i'm using 3.33.401 stock

my major problem with anthrax kernel is my CPU temperature reaches 60+ C and automatically throttles to 972MHz. I don't know if this is due to using stock firmware. everything else is ok. the handset doesn't feel that hot, battery temperature is around 37 C when on max cpu load, so not sure why the CPU temperature reads 60++ C

any ideas?

you can extract it from the zip file, or read it while in aroma installer.

btw I've installed axetilen's Mod for SebastianFM after installing Anthrax, and now my cpu throttle issue is gone. lol weird

you cant find anthrax page on xda because anthrax contains proprietary components from htc and qualcomm hence not GPL compliant. xda bans anthrax to avoid legal issues.

I reflashed anthrax, so far the only issue is my CPU cannot OC faster than 1.67GHz. This might be due to -9% undervoltage, but when I was using SebastianFM's I could run at 1.78GHz undervolted -100mV with no restarts.

Another thing is the SmartassV2 governor causes both cores to lock at 1.56GHz, and for some reason this governor also increases CPU temperature up to 65 C, which throttles the CPU down to 972MHz.

No other problems so far. AnTuTu score 7200 (1.56GHz, 300MHz 3D GPU, 228MHz 2D GPU, cfq I/O, 2048KB SD cache, class 4 cheapo card.

I don't have battery issues so far. Could it be that some background processes have been gobbling up your battery juice?

I notice with anthrax, charging using the stock wall charger is slower because the current automatically goes down to 100mA when the battery level reaches 80%. However I don't have this issue when charging using a 3rd party car charger.

SmartAssV2 Governor (Balanced)

This governor has a built-in "profile" similar to SetCPU, so screen off will use lower clock rate thus conserve more battery, but it also has a fast wake up feature so that user interaction will not see the lag when switching from Sleep to Wake state.... (So SetCPU Profiles are sorta redundant when using this governor, you can still use SetCPU to OC to higher than default Clock frequency).

since you used sebastian before anthrax, flash Socali's kernel reset mod (search his posts in virtuous inquisition thread) to remove any extra scripts etc that sebastian may have left behind. then without rebooting, wipe cache + dalvik, and flash anthrax, use default settings and choose xondemand. after flashing anthrax dont reboot, wipe cache + dalvik again. after that, reboot phone, leave it for 10 minutes, then reboot phone again. dont use smartassv2, it's buggy. install setcpu and make sure your phone is using the right governor. you can governor settings using setcpu too. the phone will use three-phase frequency most of the time when it's not idle, so i set this to 918MHz. goodluck

in case you want to undervolt, use system tuner or flash D-shell's undervolt.

edit: i found that my phone can only undervolt -12.5mV on anthrax, compared to -100mV on sebastianfm. probably because anthrax, like bricked, has some undervolting built-in the kernel.

setcpu to adjust cpu & governor settings. i prefer it over system tuner because in my case setcpu's settings really stick after reboots, and it offers more governor tweaks. system tuner cpu settings sometimes dont stick on my phone, dunno why. install the version of setcpu for rooted users. setcpu also has profiles that can change cpu settings according to scenarios like battery level, launching certain apps, temperature etc.

i changed the values in setcpu's governor settings.

batt life seems ok, on standby currentwidget shows -33 to -50mA drain, battery monitor widget shows -6 to -20, i dunno which one is correct lol. i just did a fresh reinstall of vipers, i will do a few recharge cycles this weekend and see how it goes.

i bought sensation because it's cheaper. s2 cheapest used set i found rm950. bought my sensation used set at rm650.
i've never used s2 so dunno what i'm missing.

So far so good, sense 4.1 is much more smoother, and the widget transparency effect while scrolling through home screens is really nice. Very worthy upgrade from 1.1.0. Mine is running 1.2.1 on yank v2.52, so far so good. My only minor issue is I can't use Liam Stears' theme with 1.2.1. Have to wait until he updates it.

In my case, CPU will throttle to 972MHz when my battery temp exceeds 38-39 C. So I don't think battery temp should be that high with normal use.

Did you overclock it?

i ran vipers 1.2.1 on anthrax for 2 days, found that it tends to increase my battery temperature, feels heat when using the phone. so i reverted to faux123 and so far no problems except for inaccurate battery percentage.
