if you already s-off, the lock/unlock bootloader has no effect. it has been neutered, so to say. any custom recovery can write in bootloader once it's s-off.

s-off will let you write bootloader even if it's locked. you can do stuff like install new firmware and install ROM without unlock bootloader

unlock bootloader only let you install ROM with recovery that support it like 4ext where you need to enable smartflash. you need to root first, install recovery, than flash ROM. with s-off you can actually skip the root of your stock ROM and use ADB to install custom recovery, then use it to install custom ROM. way cooler.

just managed to flash viper rom starting from stock rom. first s-off, then install custom recovery (use clockworkmod), then root. final step- flash viper rom. but dont understand why titanium backup will hang if i try to restore the msg and contacts from stock rom...

i never used TB to back up messages and contacts..bcos we can easily export the to SD..then re-import them back after installing a new rom.

nway how do u s-off you fon?

using controlbear without htc dev unlock. successful at the 4th time during wire trick, i tot i brick the phone cos at some point it become non-responsive but thank god i managed to s off it.

it's not that hard to DIY. doesn't matter if you have not done it before, it still take luck on how many try you need. but eventually you will success.

unless you have severe muscle related disease like stephen hawking, you won't take more than 15 minutes for successful try.

Sensation xe beats user reporting in, just take a lot of effort and times in unlocking the phone recently, even hang in boot screen...
play around with custom roms now
so far i use
stock rom - slow, lagging, stupid rom
Android revolution HD - so so, same with stock rom but smoother, battery is leaking in 3g, not as good as their mentioning
pengasus - better than ARHD in term of display,very nice interface, but slow sometimes
ViberS the snake - nice interface, but beat disable, this i dislike the most
OrDroid - so far i using now, battery can stand the most, but lags sometimes, still adapting

i found this phone battery in 3g quite bad even swap new battery, your guys same too?

yeah i stuck at this wiretrick for sometimes
my case is is sucess wiretrick, but after reboot just forever stuck at controlbear screen
this freak me out of many, i afraid i just brick the phone

but i dun guarantee for brick ya phone
make sure u have all the softwares, htc sync, drivers, recovery.img. anything...
it takes me one day....

btw do we need to unlock the bootloader again once sucessfully s-off the device? and do we need to flash custom kernel?i very afraid will brick da phone

my recovery is cwm and not 4ext. is that why everytime i wanna update phone (viper update) or manually flash update, the blue android with exclamation mark pops out?

and viper also super laggy sometimes. sensation custom rom currently is not as good as dhd rom. my dhd running jellytime (jellybean 4.2). ultra smooth.
