Considering Aquero's pay at 200k per week.....unlikely....
*
200K x 5 years = 12 million.
+ 38 million transfer fee.
Total 50 millions.

Still a good replacement. Still a sensible signing.

IF FSG pocketed the money, the sales would not have gone through.
It s an open secret that the sales of Torres was hinged to buying of Carroll.
On top of that, you think the creditors would be happy joes if FSG pocketed
the sales monies from Liverpool FC?
*
Well, our previous owners pocketed the money.
It is not something new.

You are now trying to hide your false assumption by arguing semantics. You said FSG came out with 100mil hard cash, and that we don't have to sell in order to buy. That is simply not true.
*
I first said FSG handed out 100 millions transfer kit.
It may sound vague to you (but I think people can understand it in general term).

Then I reiterated it by saying FSG allowed 100 millions transfer kit.

Let's set it straight, it is the money of FSG after all.

Methinks you better calculate again

200k PER WEEK....... thats 10mil sterling pounds PER YEAR

5 years means 50 million sterling   nod.gif

You pocket something if you made profit normally.
But thats not even possible because its hinged to the Carroll transfer.   nod.gif
*
Sorry, my bad, wrong calculation.

If we kept Torres, we didn't need Carroll.

i think we all need to remember that the money NESV invested is not just the about 50m spent on buying players. NESV invested more than 200m (is it?) to take over liverpool. so after investing more than 200m, and the target has not been reached (top 4), i think from any business point of view, it's considered somewhat failed investment. so heads have to fly.... biggrin.gif

I think you guys forget...we were 7th last season and 8th now... You expect Aguero to come ...You must be kidding me.

All the talks about Gotze, Aguero and few others just show that some of you here who claimed to be realistic, failed to be a realist. Look where we are. The best we could do is raid some lower repu club for key players , hoping that other big clubs wont come for them.

Latest name linked to us is Alan Pandew... laugh.gif One season wonder, might end up like Woy... laugh.gif

ManC ended 9th place in season 2007/08.
In the beginning of 2008/09 season, they signed big names like Robinho, Jo and Kompany.

The money attracted the players. The ambition of the club attracted the players.
Manager with pedigree can attract players too.

well if i'm antagonizing against 'anti-kd', at least i'm making it known. I still think its peeps like you that made KD got the sack when he's ought to have 1 more season to go.

2 cup finals, 1 cup, re-entering Europa.

If that ain't result i don't know what is.

could be just estimate speculation.
should start a poll, for 30 million pounds, how do you strengthen lfc squad?
*
We wasted 100 millions. It would be a miracle if the owner gives us another 100 millions.
At least we get something more than Everton. Pity the next manager who needs to work on small transfer kit.
We need to strengthen our squad with 30 millions then (err... we didn't strengthen our squad with 100 millions?).

There are managers work in smaller clubs or lower league.
There are managers would like to work at Liverpool.
I don't see a problem there.

Source, please.

If he really did, I think he really thinks he has unfinished work at Anfield.

I'd like us to get a manager not from a lower league or smaller clubs... as I feel it'll be a step back and I'm sure our ambition is back to top 4, not linger in midtable. no disrespect to managers from smaller club, but even reputable managers find it difficult at liverpool, and i feel the challenge will be too great for managers from smaller club

Yes, it is very important to have a manager with pedigree.

From what we have seen, these FSG people are much better than the previous yankees in terms of their authenticity as businessmen and their financial resources.

Unfortunately they are still yankees. Americans are generally so full of hype and many of them still have the mindset that they know best.

Well, they appointed KD as interim manager - that's fine. Then they (through their expert managerial skills etc.) gave KD a 3 year contract - that's great. Then they fired him after one contractual year - that's strange. Then they said they wanted someone who'd stay around for 5 years - that's puzzling. Then they go around inviting people to come for an interview (and along the way, got a "whack" on their faces from Mr Rodgers!) - and that's embarrassing!

Yanks - do they really know how to go about doing things?! They should hire a team of Malaysian/Singaporean consultants to manage their business! No wonder the American economy is in such a pathetic state!

Come on...on the one hand you get your man to tell the world that Liverpool's way is 'the quiet (behind the door) way'. That sounds like they've been working ever so hard behind the scene and have a great manager lined up already plus a DOF, DOC etc.. before they fired the whole bunch. One would even be forgiven for wondering whether Guardiola's resignation from Barca and KD's being fired is rather coincidental (wow!)

Pathetic yanks ... hah..even the Mancs are not spared!

"It's about the football club. We are talking about going forward, not going backwards."

The owner didn't see King Kenny could bring the club forward.
Or the owner saw the club moving backward.

It is something uncalled-for to discredit the owner.
King Kenny needed to do himself justice. The club owner needed justifications.
King Kenny accepted the decision.
What does that imply? KK knew very well he didn't deliver results.

If, and I mean IF, Rafa does come back, I wonder how he will do with the budget? Just saw the video of Hillsborough memorial someone posted a while ago, thank you for that.. I'd agree with the top comment there: "Wonder what he can do with 100 million in one summer and great support from his owners?" He has bought some great players for the clubs who went on and did so well for the club, such as Luis Garcia, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and even Lucas Leiva etc. And of course some rubbish who never proved himself in the club too especially during the last years in Liverpool..
*
Not every day Sunday. No more 100m transfer kit.
The next manager will have to work on tight budget.

The listed managers are going through an interview.
I believe they are requested to present their plans and strategies on how to bring the club forward.
Meaning they are selling their ideas and strategies to the club owner.
He'l get the job if the club owner accepts his ideas.

Now that's confusing. KD was offered 3 years contract and 100m+ to spend. Unless the yanks are damn rich, or else, what's the point of giving 3 years contract and 100m+ to a person who is only here for short term?
*
it was never meant to be short term, if King Kenny produced good results.

... sacking a Liverpool manager after just 16 months in charge.

Good managers would normally deliver good results in one season (12 months).
Good results in terms of game results, depth of squad, good football, good signings and developments.

Manager like Di Matteo delivered results in half season (6 months).
That is a solid justification to hand him the job.
Whether Di Matteo can deliver the same results in next season, 2012/13, we leave it to fortune teller.
For now, we need justification instead of fortune telling.

As we still debate on the same debate, I think King Kenny had more than enough time to do himself justice.

I doubt they pay 20 millions on no-name.
