QUOTE(hfi @ May 23 2012, 12:18 PM) And Rafa has no ego ? What about Mourinho, Capello, Anceloti, Ferfuson, Wenger .... you get the idea. Frank Lampard was one of the best player & top scorer of Chelsea in 2011/12 season. AVB kept him on the bench. Rafa never had luxurious options of players. Can't comment on that. The closest one could be Ferguson. He froze Berbatov.

QUOTE(LucasPSS @ May 23 2012, 12:25 PM) Ego or not, the only problem I c is the blue senior player is trying to oust him out for not playing them and phasing them out immediately without proven results from the players he fielded. Yes, he might be hardheaded in not tweaking his tactic, but we should admire that at his age, he takes the risk to phase out seniors players and plays youngster, which is wat we often hope to that KD will play sterling suso or whoever. Unluckily for him, It just backfires in chelsea. Though if I were him, I would do it slowly till I get the right players to replace the old ones. He froze Lampard. And there was backfire. DM played Lampard and you see the results.

QUOTE(Petre @ May 23 2012, 12:28 PM) rafa himself played a big part in losing alonso, while any manager would have frozen berba for the kind of form he was in? Not this Alonso thing again. We had this few pages ago. Let us be fair, Alonso was not really good during the first few seasons with Liverpool. He was plagued with injuries. He didn't have pace. But I must admit he played exceptionally well (after the news Rafa wanted replaced him broke out). It was all too late. Berba was one of the top scorers in 2010/11. But he was kept in the freeze throughout 2011/12.

QUOTE(hfi @ May 23 2012, 12:31 PM) It's called courage of conviction. If you have an idea, you have to follow through regardless what the collateral damage is. Sometimes it backfires, but that's the risk if you want to put your vision into practice. It could be either way, courage of conviction or backfire. Imagine AVB keeps Luis Suarez on bench (while he's on his top form).

QUOTE(koolspyda @ May 24 2012, 10:05 AM) FSG doesn't quite like the almost public rejection hence the list is pretty much to the (little 2) few listed. it may usual that things are done in US, but being in europe, UK, its a bit different. ian rush i believe mentioned (think was it a tweet?) that Lfc fans should be a little more open, than to discard the possibility of Lfc picking martinez (or anyone whom fans/players thinks he isn't up for bigger club) Someone posted this in the other thread If the basterds G&H had reinvested wisely the money we made in CL, transfers of players & not used to service the loans, and publicly flogged us in trying for the highest bid to asia & some dodgy middle east, we probably would not be such a shitte path these number of years. not sure if that's the prize money amount, but it sure hell feels like salt to the open wound. If we had the transfer budget, we might have Mata on our right and Silva on our left. If we spent our money wisely, we might have 2-3 world class players in our team.

QUOTE(LucasPSS @ May 24 2012, 10:37 AM) It is said that before signing downing, commoli suggested to dalglish to take up mata for left wing position. But dalglish decided against it and opt for downing instead. I wasn't that disappointed if I do not know bout this.. But now that I read about it, who would opt for downing instead of mata seriously. Ps: I do not have the source as I read it thru twitter.. Koptalk or something. They actually posted an article bout this news, but its months back. Probably needed some digging for it. I meant, We should have signed Mata & Silva under Rafa in 2008/09 when their price and wage were still low. We should have added another 2-3 world class players in season 2011/12. QUOTE(Rotuham @ Jun 2 2012, 10:55 PM) My only problem with this formation is it becomes a 4-5-1 when we don't have enough of the ball/getting dominated. Aquilani's position is ambiguous,a proper creative forward on the same level of suarez is needed.Gerrard is always injured(especially with euros now ) and perhaps carroll can't suit this style of play. These are things rodgers needs to solve if he wants to play his formation. Henderson shelvey and adam(if he stays) can play in europa and carling cup. Pretty good formation. Put Suarez on the left and Gerrard on the right. As for central midfielder, let Aquilani and Henderson do the job. We will have Adam, Downing, J.Cole as bench players. IMO, Kelly can play as central defender & right back. Assuming Kuyt and Maxi are living, we need to sign a striker, a defensive midfielder and winger (who can play both right and left side).

Fellaini, go get Fellaini, as we need a defensive midfielder. Added on June 5, 2012, 9:26 amQUOTE(Burningsunz @ Jun 5 2012, 06:07 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Liverpool Boss Plans Mass Clearout: Brendan Rodgers to Axe Eight by Christian Bailey June 4th, 2012
Dirk Kuyt Having allowed Dirk Kuyt to join Fenerbahce, Rodgers is ready to axe another seven members of his Liverpool playing staff. The 39 year old former Swansea City manager has been told he will be handed a modest transfer budget and that more significant moves in the market will have to be funded by the possible sales of players who can recoup a decent fee.
Maxi Rodriguez Utility man Maxi Rodriguez is destined to be on his way as Brendan Rodgers looks to adopt a more youthful policy when it comes to first team matters. There is already reported interest in the 31 year both from La Liga and his native Argentina. The former Atletico Madrid man has struggled to force his way into the first team under a succession of managers since his arrival in January 2010.
Alberto Aquilani Alberto Aquilani has spent the last two seasons out on loan to Juventus and AC Milan and Rodgers has little interest in bringing the Italian international back and the 27 year old is thought to be keen on remaining in Serie A. However Liverpool will not reduce their valuation for a player who cost the club £20m just under three years ago.
Joe Cole Though Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his admiration for Joe Cole the Anfield boss is ready to listen to offers for the England veteran as he looks to remove his sizable wages from the balance sheet. Wages that are not those of a bench warmer. There is reported interest from Lille, where the Londoner spent last term on loan.
Brad Jones and Doni Keeper Brad Jones and Doni will also be offloaded as Rodgers looks to give back-up duties to impressive young Hungarian custodian Peter Gulacsi, who has impressed during his loan spell at Hull City last term
Another player who may well be fighting for his Liverpool future is local born midfielder Jay Spearing. The 23 year old battler failed to impress when called upon to act as a back-up for injured Brazilian Lucas Leiva. Rodgers will look to bring in another defensive midfielder who he feels will act as a more reliable replacement. To this end the Anfield boss is said to be in talks with representatives for Barcelona bit-part player Seydou Keita.
Henderson and Downing Whilst the sales of these six would not necessarily bring in a huge amount in potential transfer funds Brendan Rodgers will also think long and hard about the future of two players who are away at Euro 2012 with the England squad. Kenny Dalglish spent over £35m on Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing but neither player covered themselves in glory last term and their call-ups to the England camp surprised many, not least Rodgers himself. Jordan Henderson adheres to the youthful direction the Merseyside club is looking to move towards so he may well survive the cull though a lot could depend on whether Rodgers finds a more naturally suited player to take his spot on the right side of the midfield. However Stewart Downing, fast approaching 28, is apparently a player Rodgers is willing to cash-in on if a suitable offer is made. The problem in this instance may be that given his form, zero assists and zero goals in 36 Premier League appearances, it could prove a tough task to push for a bid even close to the reported £20m paid to Aston Villa for the winger. Err... Adam is not on the list. BR likes Adam more than Henderson. This post has been edited by ALeUNe: Jun 5 2012, 09:26 AM

Added on June 5, 2012, 12:03 pmyes..big wages hurt will affect our cash flow.... unless our stadium is 60k+, we have to control wages. It depends on situation. When you're at the mouth of the goal, you still tiki taka? Crazy ah? You run and shoot lah!
