Copy & paste from Arsenal Mania. Overreacted little bit, but still a good post. Sums up modern football player today.

QUOTE
People need to stop saying not enough new signings/top players nonsense and what not.Wrighty didn't even read some of his contracts just walked in and signed.

**** the assurances this is arsenal you in or you out ride or die.

Lets keep it real out here he has been unreliable and a liability over the years with his fitness. One good season does not make up for the m.i.a seasons. They were times we were in the running for things this guy was nowhere to be seen.

Standards have drop and desperation is embarassing in here. What happend to players doing it back to back seasons proving they are top,top players. Now one good season constitute as the bestest player talk smh.

If he's not on staying needs to put his hand up now.So we can work on getting a new striker in asap we dont need time wasting that disrupts the team.

He's been good in bits but 1 season does'nt cut it.If he had been doing henry back 2 back numbers than maybe I would'nt rant but he has'nt.

No ones bigger than the club.If he wants out needs to put his hand up now.

Hopefully RVP will prove that he can perform back to back and sign new deal with the club.

There is no loyalty in football nowadays , only money . There will never be the like of Buffon and Alessandero , who stayed with the club even it was relegated and scandaled .

if...
let say.. after he sign new contract, 130k-150k per week for example..
and suddenly... god forbid,
he got injured... like wilshere for example...because the record said he is quite injury prone until last year and this half-year.
how would u guys react?

Will stand behind him if the contract he signed is a long one .If it's a short one , that's another story .

i totally agree on what he said

the quality has dropped so much that even one season of good performance is already considered as amazing achievement liao

This is exactly the problem. His contribution for the last 8 years was basically lying down on the treatment bed. People tend to forget that Robin's goalscoring form started only in the middle of last season. Its not like in the past 8 years he's been banging goals and we still end up trophyless. If thats the case he should really really leave...
*
The 'repay him for what he had done for us in the past 8 years' is just a supporting statement that one shouldn't be looking into at all. But since you mentioned it, to say he had been lying on bed for last 8 years is just so unfair to him. Players play, they got injured. If you haven't realized yet, for every single season he played for us, he provided 0.5 goals per appearance ratio. That is like provide one goal every 2 appearance which is good enough for any strikers in the world. provide here of course means score + assist. He is injury prone but that doesn't give us the right to say that he contributed nothing because he had been injured all times. Given him that option, he would like to play every single match for us but that is not the case. Its non optional for him to be lying on bed and so we can't be judging someone's unwilling act. That's why insanity is a defense for murder because its not in the assailant's control. Its not like he wanted to kill.

So for not judging his injury-prone, then we judged on his performance when he is available. Starting from his 3rd season thats 2006-07, stats don't lie that he provided us at least 0.5 goal per game ratio. And for that consistency alone, we should really thank him alot.

Having said all that, again I will mention, I was merely answering a hypothetical question, an 'IF' question if one had forgotten. So the full sentence will be... I don't wish he leaves us so soon, but 'IF' he did, I will wish that he can join Barcelona as its one of his dream to be there besides us.

Now I’m going to ask this question again; are trophies all what football is about? Is there absolutely nothing else that matters? If that’s the case why are there teams remembered even though they won nothing? The 1974 Holland team comes to mind.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that  Arsenal should not try and win trophies and nor that I want us to stay trophy-less but its high time some people go back and learn the definition of being a football supporter. It is not only celebrating with your team in the good times but also sticking by them in bad phases, giving them SUPPORT when they need it and not acting like complete twats (can I use that Tony?) [yup - Tony] when things are not going your way.

This is just a bad phase and it will pass as the saying goes no matter how long it is there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I’m sure we are going to win trophies in not so distant future but that should not be what support is based on.

Trophies should not be your definition of football but the memories (good and bad) and the experience should. We didn’t win any trophy in the last 7 years but how many times have we been ecstatic due to the results we had? How many times have we been so happy that even not winning a trophy didn’t matter?

If football was all about trophies then perhaps Kenny Dalglish would have a job today.

It's all because of Champions League $$$.

I do not know about others but I am happy that we can secure 3rd place and continue building up the team with strong financial backing and competition attraction to potential new recruits as a result from CL participation.
