These 'ambition' that made RVP today. If Arsenal were really ambitious, like i said before, RVP was among the first to shown the door. When at one time he looked like a deadweight, even some fans running out of patience with him. But Wenger, club and fans stick with him through thick and thin. Remember the reception he got from fans inside the stadium every time he make his return from long-term injury?

RVP can put the blame all he want on the board shoulder, but he also responsible each time Arsenal went short for title and cup. He wasn't even there to help the team on several important occasion. I hope he stay. At this stage, only his family and Wenger could change his mind. Help the team, Francesco Totti one of the most gifted Italian player also not really have great time at AS Roma since the club start declining, But he stay even when he had better offer and opportunity elsewhere.

With RVP departure, it actually reflects the ambition of the club. Unwilling to invest, with the latest acquired Podolski and Giroud. No doubt its a good addition but to RVP they werent a proven addition. He is 29 and he wants to win trophy which he only have 1 FA cup with him after 7 years with us. In order to keep RVP, Arsene need to recruit players with proven records. Man Utd have Rooney with them, Chelsea have Lampard and Terry, Liverpool have Gerard. We only have RVP as one of our most senior player and of course the iconic player. With the leaving trend continues, the likes of Theo, Vermaelen will only leave in the matter of time.

In order to to keep RVP, the club will need to invest heavily. Its sad to see him leaving. He could have been a legend who finishes his career with us. He could have been the person to drag us back to the old glory days. The board manages the club differently from the others so we gotta bear the different result from the others. Its so sad that this case is happening again as it reminds me of Henry's case. 7 years in the club, the club couldnt assure what he wants. What else can we fans ask from? Maybe Dein saw this is going to happen years back, thats why he pushes Usmanov up to the board. We initially think he is going to be the person to destroy the club with excessive spendings. Now is this the time for us as fans to question ourselves once again?

Are we really proud of the self-sustaning club with important players leaving frequently? or do we really need to splash our cash to keep everyone and also to recruit the others?

It's a difficult call. When a player decides to leave, there will be all sorts of excuses. If we do splash huge amounts of money and yet Robin chooses to leave, there's always some other reason or explanation or shit.

I'm happy that Robin gave his all on the pitch last season, and behaved like a true leader off it as well. What prompted him to release his scathing statement we'll probably never know, but for now he's as good as gone.

Despite Robin being my favourite Arsenal player for the last few seasons, his departure still doesn't hurt as much as Titi's. And we all know that Titi still loves Arsenal, and would not hesitate to wear our shirt again. This is why he is the one that's hailed as the King, and he is the one that has a statue outside the Grove.

It's easy to be a great player.
To be a legend, that's one step higher.

Nicely put the SG.

Rvp could be legend. However he decided that he is bigger than the club. His ambition doesn't match that of the club.

And as angel of death puts it... Totti did stay loyal to as Roma. Same can be said with buffon. These guys will be legend at their clubs...as Henry at Emirates

I admire Buffon at one time he's even rumored to replace seaman. He Stayed with Juve even when they are relegated and now he tasted invincibles.

I still cannot understand why some fans rant on the board and the manager. RVP's statement was clearly a way to force the club to sell him so that he won't be looked like "betraying" the club and the fans.

I don't buy the "not ambitious" and "have different idea on how the club should move forward" claims. With Poldoski and Giroud in plus RVP himself, we already have the best strike force (bar Man City) in BPL. The defensive problem can also be solved largely by having a true DM (M'villa ??) and I believe AW is working towards signing one, whether it's M'villa or another player. With that, most fans are optimistic that we can challenge for BPL next season.

AFC deserved better from RVP because of all the faith and patience the Club and manager have had with him in the past 8 years where he spent almost half of the time in the treating room.

I don't know about you guys and I know while he has been injured alot, he has only won one trophy in his 8 years at the club and that was in his first season.

He stayed when Pires, Henry, Fabregas and Nasri left. Yes, Pires and Henry have contributed so much in their time at Arsenal before the left and Wenger didn't exactly like giving 30 year olds long term contracts. Fabregas left to go back to his boyhood club. Nasri well, probably money but I think it's more because he felt Man City had a better chance than winning but his attitude towards Arsenal after he left was IMO, kinda disrespectful aslo.

I don't think RvP is motivated by money and I'm in no doubt he loves Arsenal but I think he wants to win trophies more than anything else and perhaps he got fed up with the lack of investments in the past. I don't think the signings of Podolski and Giroud made any difference because he probably already made up his mind.

You know, finishing top four for the last 8 years is just not enough. While I envy Arsenal for always being in Champions League, there are no prizes for finishing top four. Playing in Europe's elite competition is important but winning trophies is also important.

I don't think you can compare Buffon or Totti to him. Totti was born in Rome, perhaps, supported Roma and he has more reasons to stay there. Buffon is Italian, he plays in Italy and he has more reasons to stay there as well. While RvP is no Torres I'm sure, Torres claimed to loved Liverpool and all that but he was never a Liverpool fan or even born English.

I was pissed when Torres left because other than scoring goals for Liverpool, he went against everything he said and signed for another English team and he has only spent 3.5 years at Liverpool before he ran out of patience. RvP has spent 8 years there and it wasn't his fault he got injured often. He could have easily gone and sat on another team's bench offering 150k per week or he could try to help the club he loves to win trophies but it just never happened for him.

I hope he remains at Arsenal because I enjoy watching Arsenal and RvP play. I never want to see him play for another English club (except for Liverpool of course! smile.gif)
