I am using an Alphamax A845 outdoor filter. Been in use for over 10 years. Looking to change the sand media inside. The stainless steel casing still nice, no issue.

Any recommended technician who does media replacement?

Thanks.

I am using an Alphamax for 10 yrs too. I called and asked them for maintenance, they mentioned the micro z media is lifetime and doesn't need to be replaced. Anyone here can suggest otherwise?

zheilwane can you provide your expertise in this?

Thanks

Pressure still ok I guess. But the quality of filter has reduced though.

Change as in the whole filter? What sand filter do you recommend now?

I recently had the filter media replaced on my Alphamax filter. Whatever media it is, it is still sand, so over time, despite backwash, it's going to accumulate dirt. The media that was removed from my filter didn't look clean, and there seems to be some algae as well.

I did contact Alphamax as well, and they quoted an exorbitant RM800 to change the media, and proposed that I buy a new filter instead.

Since the stainless steel casing was still in good condition, I didn't think it was necessary to change the entire filter.

Actually, the filter is a very simple device; it is essentially a casing, a filter head (with a pipe running to the bottom of the casing), and filter media. If your casing and filter head are still in good condition, only the media needs to be changed.

i just wonder how Alpha can give you this info ... doh.gif

no such thing as lifetime bro.
best to replace the sand media every 5 years or earlier depends on how dirty the backwash .

So you opt for the rm800 media replacement?

I see the multi valve head is just a screw on. They just remove the head, pour out the sand.. And pour new ones in?

Yah I did see it on Lazada and was considering it. However, in the end, after having spoken to some filter installers, decided to go with cheaper option.

Nope.. I did not pay that crazy amount for a media change. Went with another installer that only charged RM350 all in. That said, he wasn't very experienced / skilled, and I wouldn't use him again.

Yah.. the valve head is only screw on, but depending on your piping set up, may have to cut off your piping and install new one.
