Asus seriously sucks to the max.

Bought a Vivobook S400CA less than a week ago. After getting back today from work, I put down my laptop bag leaning to my cupboard, went down for dinner, when I got back up and to my horrifying surprise, there was a pressure damage to the display that came out of no where. Really huge 1 right at the center of the display. I suspect is the build of the display not aligning properly.

Not sure if this is claimable at the warranty center, anyone here with experience claiming issues like this? This is a company laptop, hoping I do not need to pay some dumb ass cash to fix this less than 1 week old laptop.

Exactly what happened to me. Let me share my experience dealing with them below as my case had been dragged since July 2013 until today.

Product: ASUS S400CA

Problem: Technician calls it sticky point (layers between the display sticking together)

A bit long story below, hence shrink it in a spoiler for whoever is interested. sweat.gif

Total months of struggling: 8 months
Total visits: 4 times and counting... doh.gif
Total calls unstated: > 30 to NCCC, Asustek & etc.
Total time wasted: Lost count.. Time to backup data is a headache... doh.gif

THEREFORE THINK! BEFORE YOU BUY ANY ASUS PRODUCTS! BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK

If the tablet's warranty is over, do you want to try your luck rooting it and installing a CM11 maybe? Not sure if it helps but here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transforme...00t/development

If your laptop come original with Window 8 then they don't know your key because it's embedded into your motherboard. Either you send it back to them or use software to retrieve the key and input it yourself.

Use pkeyui.

I did 3 screenshots of the unactivated windows as proof and sent them already.

Tried your method and I did get a key. However when I key in again to activate again, it still shows me the same error as what I've screenshot and sent them below. Really fed up with them edi. vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

"The activation server has determined the specified product key has been blocked."

Tried calling and inserted all sets of numbers and it appears to be an invalid key. Think there is nothing that I can do other than going back to the service centre to screw them upside down. vmad.gif

Don't buy, or you'll regret it. Get a Dell or something as my colleague's Dell get on site inspection and hardware replacement straight without going all these hassle.

Updates:

28 Mar 2014
Called the person responsible from 2pm - 5pm, he picked up 3 out of 20 calls and he even DARE TO PUT IT ASIDE ON THE TABLE AFTER ANSWERING, I can hear him talking to someone at the background. I was really pissed and decided to shoot an email to his superiors (not sure) and he called back at 7.20pm quickly explaining with all his grandma's stories and also mentioned I gotta try to settle it with Microsoft myself first if I don't want to send in my laptop.

29 Mar 2014
Called Microsoft, spoke to the CS as she tried to guide me through the reactivation process and seems none of her ways are working. Advised me to bring back to Asus and so I did at 5pm today, AGAIN! Talked to the CS in Asus service centre and they don't know how to reacivate it back. Wanted me to leave my laptop there for another 5 days but I rejected as I have my sensitive work files in there. Gotta visit them next week after backing up all my files. Really regretted I did not just opt for the REFUND instead I asked for a replacement. Way to make my day Asus.

I swear to God, this will be my first, and last Asus product. Won't even recommend it to anyone else. vmad.gif

Definitely Apple if you got the cash for it and loves Mac OS, and Dell for Windows as so far that's the better ones I heard at least from my side. whistling.gif

I sent in my memopad 8 for warranty and its already 1 week plus still cannot pick up... Asus u sucks............................

What I learnt after purchasing Asus product, is to follow every damn thing on your own. Take own initiative and chase them as they will just shake leg in the office hoping you will forget it.

Try emailing them using the CS's email on your RMA receipt to follow up. If you send in @ lowyat service centre, don't bother to call the "COLD" line because nobody will pick up. Even if they do, they will just say "we will follow up" but in the end no news. vmad.gif

Been there, done that. icon_question.gif

SOOOOO bro... What u did in d end to rush them repairing it ?? i m fking fed up dy la .. juz like u said they wont bother to pick up the phone .. And everytime i go there they sure tell me next week next week .. if need order mobo then have to wait very long .. fk it i damn du lan
*
Erm, if you read my previous post, my case for my Vivobook S400CA is still ongoing. 8 months edi, ding and dong here and there and I'm more fed up then you. My brand new unit still got same shit, but this time more shit on it. The CS whom I contacted at Asustek resigned some more. doh.gif sweat.gif

1 week+ is okay la tbh, if 1 month+ edi u have to chase edi because sometimes they need to ship the parts from Taiwan in order to repair your device.

This is the words the i sked the most  , "order parts from taiwan " , if they tell u this then u will know u re in for some long running shits ...
and this was what he tol me this morning .. i m fked... zzzz...
are they stupid or smtg ? i mean they should have all the parts ready in malaysia but not only order it when its needed ..
fking i know it might sound harsh bcuz its just 1 week plus but i m still gona say asus sux !
i did a warranty with smasung las time and they only take about 1-2 days to inform me what is the problem .
*
I think they don't stock up a lot of the spare parts, trying to keep their operation cost as low as possible, that's why they need to get from Taiwan.

Even Dell's after sales service was quite good. My colleague's laptop cannot turn on, within 3 days a person came and check, change a new part for him and voila, as good as new.

If they ever format my harddrive I'd demand that I format every single employee's head of hair in the service center.

Sometimes they will not follow customer's requests. I've heard people complaining at the centre that their laptop was formatted by them which they did not requested for it. shocking.gif

To be really frank , thats our responsibility to back up our data on our own , you should have know that normally you send it for RMA , your data will be removed , thats a standard SOP .
*
You are wrong my friend.

When you send in for RMA, the CS will ask whether to reformat or not. If the customer say NO, then they will write on the RMA receipt a "No Reformat Needed". But somehow the smart technicians still being too smart to format it anyway. doh.gif

Check your RMA status, call them, email them. Do everything you can to annoy them so that they will revert back to you.

If the uncle really use for "few days", he should have send in for one-to-one warranty from the reseller ma. sweat.gif

QUOTE(YJYYEE @ Apr 24 2014, 06:51 PM)
How is your asus case going on now?...thank god i come across this thread...
My case ah.. Got my new brand new unit from Asus directly. The CS promised me same problem will not appear any more, but it is STILL appearing again and the Win8 cannot activate. The annoying "please activate your windows" thing keeps popping up once in a while. Went back to let them activate but after updating to Win8.1 is popping up again. doh.gif

Currently I am going to opt for a replacement of other brands but I gotta exchange with the re-seller in Pyramid instead of Asus. I've contacted the CS who dealt with me before for this but apparently she is no longer with Asustek any more. Now handled by her subordinates but last Thurs he say he's gonna call me back, until today as expected, no calls also. Gonna call again next Mon to shoot him gawgaw. shocking.gif

Conclusion, NONO to Asus. Spread the words please. nod.gif nod.gif
