Anyone know where to get this body kit? Personally I think they are better than the famous TUIX drool.gif

Update for taillight issue. I just called hyundai careline, the officer said official notice will be released soon, but probably still remain with the half taillight as of now as they claimed that they are following EU regulation. He further told me to refer to other car like Honda, Toyota and Kia. No update for tweeter though.

By the way, how long does it normally take after getting chassis and engine no until car arrival?

if chasis no allocated already, should be very fast regardless of color and model. meaning car is out from production and waiting to be sent for inspection. my car is ready although i only received my chasis no last friday. merely 3 working days of waiting. now only wait sa to register.

Added on June 13, 2012, 1:03 pmguys. do u think a normal rectangular shape back no plate is better or a full size shape which follows the curve?

Finally received my car today. biggrin.gif

D.O.Booking : 1 April 2012
D.O.Birth : 16 June 2012
Region : Penang
1.8 Premium WHITE
ODO during collection: 29km

Please update me to the tiong list.

Some small incident though.

1st, found the rear right door lock spoilt, cannot open from inside mad.gif Fixed on the spot by technician, due to cable detached blink.gif Luckily got check.

2nd, trunk release latch broken (spring detached) during 2nd try when back at home. vmad.gif Although is a small issue, but still feeling a little bit disappointed. blush.gif

On the bright side. The car is indeed powerful, I live in a quite high place (in front of a small hill), the car can easily climb the sloppy road (maybe 10-20 degree) in 4th gear (I know because I purposely shift it to +- mode) tongue.gif The NVH is good, minimal wind noise and tire noise travel at 70-80kmh (yet to confirm with sound meter apps though). 6 speed transmission is silky smooth, not jerk whatsoever, I don't even know the car is actually changing gear rclxms.gif A minor comment on the 1st and 2nd gear is that I also experience the little bit higher engine brake effect similar to some bros here. Not an issue, maybe is just the Hyundai 6 spd characteristic, who knows it will improve after engine and transmission run in. Like what tony bro said, 1.8 seems a bit overkill in Penang island, as traffic is quite heavy and distance is short, but guess some more power and torque does not do any harm tongue.gif

Tinted with WinGard Royale series, security tint, 60% VLT.

Still playing with the stock China HU, GPS is working, but respond time not as fast as branded 1 like Garmin maybe due to slower processor. Bluetooth pairing is working. Found some different display brightness mode, turned to the brightess setting, under 60% front VLT tint, I think the visibility is OK.

Fuel consumption wise, SA gave me full tank, do a reset on l/100km, went to tint shop, came back home (100% city and typical penang jam), the reading is 9.5l/100km after around 25km or distance, still too early to say anyway.

Congrats! Only small minor issues tat can be easily fixed. Just take note before and after 1k service if the engine noise got harsher. I don't trust shell engine oils...
Thanks bro, I think my service center allow to bring own oil, but have yet to confirmed. Never know shell is so bad, I thought the new HX7 is a very new product? blink.gif Have you fixed your engine sound different issue? What would be your recommendation besides shell?

Lol damn. So the best tint there is now is vkool elite? Whats the difference between ceramic and normal tints? Like huper optik. But the heat rejection and vlt is not as good as tints like vkool.
*
Yesterday went to tint shop, the technician told me vkool elite is metal type, and the quality is not as good as before as mercury price is increasing (not sure how true, but since the shop is an authroized dealer for vkool and 3m, I guess his comment has some credit). If only strive for superior heat rejection, his advice is to take 3M rather than vkool. Downside is 3M crystaline series are non security tint, and almost as expensive as Vkool. However, I ended up taking Wingard as 3M is out of my budget and not a security tint.

However, if IR rejection rate is too high, might have problem with Smart Tag as it is using IR communication technology.

As I know, even ceramic type has alot of different technology. Huper optik nano ceramic series don't seem to have high IR rejection rate, clear ceramic series on the other hand, Huper optik C70 has 91% of IR rejection rate, but still lower than 3M and vkool.

Guys.. I am considering this car (1.8 premium only) to replace my existing car, i have the following in my mind that i can't seems to find the answer from here would really appreciate your help to share this information for my consideration:-

1. Fuel Consumption (1 full tank can last for how many km - mainly city driving ) Highway not really my consideration as i will be driving to town to work everyday so jam is the key point.

*
Sharing..

1. Mine 1.8, medium foot (press more than I usually do as running in the engine), penang pure city drive, moderate jam, dashboard shows 9.5l/100km. Elantra has 50l tank, if assume left 5l go to fill up petrol, 45/9.5 * 100 = 470km. For a car yet to do 1st service, I would say this figure is very good for a pure city drive.

Where got 50L tank so big? My previous altis also 46L only...
48l to be exact. sorry, should have double checked the user manual. doh.gif

To Evelynn_Salt:

Massive jam (almost 1 hour of idle in just 4km of distance?), not even a hybrid car can save you from bad fuel consumption. 4km per trip is considered as severe driving condition. By the way, idle for too long is not good for engine run in for 1st 1000km. You need to take your car to somewhere further and out of the jam, and observe your fuel consumption.

Here you go:

Hyundai Elantra US spec

Notice they have only 1.8 MPI with HP and torque exactly the same with us. We should be able to hit 40MPG also, maybe because of most of us still not yet fully run in the engine.

Oh? Just get to know this tongue.gif However in the states, they normally get 91 RON fuel right? Always hope our premium spec can get their limited spec sound system and better quality HU. blush.gif

I also want to which recommended workshop in penang for the tail light.

Sharing:
just did a refill full tank, travel back to ipoh average 6.3l/100km, no speeding, mostly 110kmh. Not too bad for 1.8 I guess. Hope will further improve and hit the magical 40mpg after 1st service.

To jason:

The half tail light is not a careless issue, but is intentionally left out by SD due to cut cost. Their reason for this is to follow the EU regulation bla bla bla... You can go go back the previous pages and get to know more on this.

By the way, if not mistaken, the good thing is it can be easily installed by 3rd party workshop as many of the owners here have done this.

Half tail light not only happen in elantra, check out civic, Altis, slhphy, forte etc.. All are same.. But many of the buyer fix it themselves
*
I am sure Civic 8 gen has full tail lamp at night. It would be very cacat if only half tail lamp as civic is very obvious having 2 round shape tail lamp.

im curious if u drive in eco mode comparing to normal pedaling ....is there any difference in FC ?? bcoz i found it like not much difference...and yea also if u left ur car idle even short period of time (with engine on) the fuel tends to drop pretty fast hmm.gif
*
No difference in performance and FC for our version of Elantra. It is just merely an indicator of fuel eco driving. If not mistaken, as long as you drive below 2.4k - 2.5k RPM and throttle opening less than certain amount, the Eco indicator will auto light up. I have tried driving 120kmh NSHW, 1.8, still considered eco driving smile.gif

However, for US 2012 elantra, there is an active eco mode system which works like Honda Eco button by tuning down throttle opening, respond, transmission shifting speed etc.

U seem to be experiencing with different petrol brand? So far which brand do you think is the best for our Elantra? Me myself is experimenting with esso 95 and caltex 95. Seems not much difference.

Before u did your 1k km service, do you feel the engine getting rougher (a little bit heavy) after around 700km?

Added on June 25, 2012, 8:36 pmAnyone here experience with some intermittent vibration noise from the back cargo area? My car seems to have this kind of vibration noise "dak dak" sound from rear cargo area when the car goes over uneven road. blush.gif

I had that sound too. Mine cause by the toolbox/ safety triangle.
*
Hmm, thanks for your suggestion. I have tried to take away the toolbox, the sound is not caused by the toolbox, but I yet to try taking out the safety triangle. The sound is quite audible if radio off, I think is like metal hit on plastic sound, quite annoying sound blink.gif . If cannot solve, I will let the SC inspect during the soon to reach 1st service.
