Hi guys, I'm going to Langkawi on 25 Jan 2013 for only ONE day. I really appreciate if you guys could recommend a place for me and my family to stay. We only intend to relax by the beach and maybe doing a bit of duty free shopping. So the requirements are as follow:
1. The place of accommodation MUST be by the beach.
(one of the best beach) / near airport
Price for one night around RM500-600
2. Quite near to duty free shops. (chocolates, cigarettes and cooking wares)

Please recommend.....

Thanks in advance

what bout pulau tioman? any interestin there? but har i always heard many ppl like to go langkawi.
*
The beach at tioman is much better and the water is more clearer and you can see more fishes. Tioman is a marine park hence there will be more variety of under water life for u to see if you go snorkelling. Furthermore it also shares the same duty free status as langkawi. However it is quite out of the way hence people would prefer to go langkawi. Cheaper air fares and bigger.

To all experience langkawi travellers,  i'd like to ask what is the budget if travel from kl to kuala perlis by car? Toll is around rm60, what about fuel for a 1.6 car? Googled but cant find an answer.
Another thing, what time u recommend i depart from kl if i plan to arrive at langkawi around 12pm? N in kuala perlis any tips on where to park my car?  Which is safe n i read some parking area require u to leave ur car keys. Id like to avoid that.
I'll be going on 27/2-2/3, as it is on a working day, will the jetty be crowded? This is my 1st time going there by car.
*
aiyo, how will people know about your car's fuel consumption? you should know best right? go figure out how much petrol your car consumes every km then multiply the distance to kuala perlis loh. from kl to kuala perlis alraedy 5-6 hours depending how fast you drive. then ferry takes about 1.5 hours to reach langkawi. so all in all you should leave at 3am? not sure about parking.

How to join mangroves tour or island hoping? Does it available at any hotel in langkawi or something?
*
you can head to kuah jetty. there are many operators there offering their packages. usually hotels also offer their own package or they work together with an agent.

I see.. The same goes to island hoping as well? Im gonna stay in kuah, do u think there is any operator for island hoping in Kuah as well coz seems like the jetty is at Awana Malai which quite far from
Kuah. Afraid i new to go to te awana malai jetty first from Kuah
*
yes there are many. as long as the island hopping covers pulau beras basah, dayang bunting lake and eagle feeding, and the price is below rm35, rest assured that you are not conned.

Peeps. Ever heard of this place called Ambong Ambong? It's located in Pantai Tengah. Is Pantai Tengah a good place to stay?

I wonder if RM 3K justifiable for for 5 peeps.
*
pantai tengah is more quiet compared to pantai cenang. good if you want more privacy at the beach.

I heard that Pantai Tengah is quite a long stretch of beach. Is it possible that some parts are nicer and some parts of the beach are just not well maintained?

First time going to Langkawi. And rental is crazy mad expensive man. RM 150 for a Vios per day now. Rawr. Should I go ahead with it you think?
*
yes its possible, but generally shouldn't differ by much. even public beaches like cenang still quite ok for me. pantai tengah should be slightly better.

wow RM150 is very expensive shocking.gif if you have already bought your air tickets you dont have a choice do you?

Actually the cable car is more than enough. The view from the sky bridge isnt that nice compared to the elevated platforms.

Sad to realize that skybridge is closed as I'm planning to visit Langkawi on April. Is there a good location where we are still able to snap few photo of the bridge (since it is closed)?
*
http://zhishan90.blogspot.com/2012/02/lang...lage-cable.html

you can still visit other parts of the platforms... the bridge is just part of the attraction..
