i recognize this problem long time ago when i try to get into TMNET Streamyx website to upgrade my 512 package to 1M, then there are many bug & errors at most of the pages in their website.

till now, streamyx still not improve it & i think they have a "noob programmer" kind of website..

My (RM66) line gets chocked to 1~3kb/s ,upload and download, almost everyday. It starts from around 11~1pm and ends at 5pm.

Whats my problem? not enough bandwidth in the area?

Heavy traffic..
streamyx should have enough bandwith to allow for all their customers to get max speed at the same time

Then you would be paying RM3000/month for it.

hi guys,

i'm using streamyx wireless and i have problem connecting to my network. i called them 3 times and the problem is getting worst!!

1st call, they asked me to connect my router direct to the phone socket on the wal. NOT WORKING.

2nd call, they asked me to turn off my modem for 10mins while they restart the port or something. STILL NOT WORKING.

3rd call, they asked me to establish new connection. NOT WORKING! and worse, my laptop couldnt even detect my network!!

so guys, what should i do??

regardless the speeds. both pings are totally crazy.... mad.gif
regarding the speed..... mad.gif

both upload speed is too damn low.
the download speed for local servers are acceptable.
but for other region servers...... mad.gif

anyway i can improve all this shit??

and i think its absolutely noobish & absurd to upgrade the packages.
jus use a basic 512kbps rm66 package.
it gives similarly the same test speeds.

TM Net jus scams us with those higher bandwidth packages. 1mbps, 2mbps, 4mbps are all bullshits.
at SINGAPORE, you now can get 100mbps connection jus at the same price as our TM NET Streamyx 4mbps package.

but of course, we cant compare with Singapore.
we live in MALAYSIA.
soree to say.... its ashame.....

Questions about latency and online gaming (not sure if this even the right thread for it) :

Situation : I'm using Streamyx's 1Mbs package and I play Guild Wars which its main server is either via American or European. Ping was normally about 300 to 500ms in December prior to the Christmas holidays. Since then (and has been worsening lately) to an average ping of 800-1200ms with spikes of 4000-8000ms lately. Initially had thought that it was due to higher traffic during the holiday seasons but now that its well over the holidays, it should have improved back to its baseline. When talking to my other international gaming friends, they do not face similar situations.

As for speedometer testing, I am aware that using local TMNet's speedometer, I register about 160kbytes/sec (roughly 1300kbits per sec). This of course drops when using international speedometers because of distance, server exchanges, ports and routers when going internationally.

Question :

1. Is this worsening condition due to internal Malaysia's TMNet server issue or is this an external/international server issue?
2. Any ideas on improving latency on my own computer via settings?
3. Before I start spending hours on the phone waiting to tech monkeys in TM to read their user guides, will upgrading or changing ISP improve latency?

i've got a n00b question... one of my office branches is using SDSL from TM and connected to a SDSL modem.

any Wireless router (without ADSL built in) should be compatible with the SDSL modem, right?

Yes as long as it uses a LAN interface (which I believe modems nowadays are on LAN, moreover this is SDSL) any router would work with it.

Since TMNet hardly updates us on what they are doing, we won't know when exactly they are doing maintenance or upgrading works. However, the performance on their services are quite random and very unpredictable, you may get good speeds today but tomorrow you could be ranting too.

Hey guys,

I'm using 1mb package for the office and my home but both are under performing.

The office is getting around 700kbps for download whereas my house is getting only 220kbps(!!!) for download.

I've contacted TM and given them the results 3 times and they said that they've reconfigured and saying that my connection is fine.

What can i do to get it back to the performance we're paying for??? Getting really sick with the speed I'm having.

(Note that benchmark is done with Dlink DL-500T modem connected directly to computer)
