If he uses the limera1n exploit then those with A5 devices will be out of luck. Let's hope it's similar to Corona.

QUOTE(otosan @ May 5 2012, 09:13 PM) don't do that! Based on his twitter, it's only for the iPhone 4, not 4s. iPhone 4 always have some vulnerability especially the bootrom exploit. But let's hope he can implement the same thing on the 4s.install SAM, go to utilities and choose de-activate iPhone (clear push) and revert lockdown to original, after done, enable SAM, plug to iTunes, and wait till your phone activated.. reboot and re-install Whatsapp and any app that using notification... Added on May 6, 2012, 2:17 am Redsn0w is hacktivating your phone, mean u will got notification problem, and little battery issue if u r factory unlocked, u should check your computer host file and remove any entry that got gs.apple written on it... if you using locked phone and depends on ultrasn0w or any sim card unlock, you should install SAM, de-activate your phone and re-activate it using SAM... from what you said about no service, i think maybe your phone is locked phone and u update it without pre-caution... Added on May 6, 2012, 2:18 am No, he already put it on 4s, should be good for The new iPad as well if i'm got what he said right... |

QUOTE(Hawaiiii @ May 7 2012, 05:46 PM) A noob question here, how can i upgrade my ip4 ios 4.3.3 to 5.0.1? I knew apple already stop signing 5.0.1, but is it possible to do so? Any sifu??? Not unless you have the 5.0.1 SHSH saved. If you do not have the SHSH saved, there is no way no how you can upgrade. |

QUOTE(otosan @ May 7 2012, 10:41 AM) as far as Jailbreak still used as a bridge for pirating Appstore app, and unlocking carrier locked phone, apple won't stop this cat and mouse game, since they will lost a lot of developer and carrier support if they simply let it happen... +1. That is why we Malaysians (yes we are well known) must change our mindset. If we can afford to pay for a 2.5K phone, we can definitely afford the 3 ringgit apps. Buy the iTunes credits (lots of sellers here in LYN) and support the developers. |

QUOTE(Hawaiiii @ May 7 2012, 06:39 PM) Means if i saved the 5.0.1 SHSH using tinyumbrella, then start TSS server and upgrade from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 using DFU mode..... is possible? Not really. You need to use iFaith or redsnow and create a custom firmware with the 5.0.1 SHSH. The guide is the same as the one in post #3 for downgrading. |

QUOTE(pekoejazzy @ May 8 2012, 06:48 AM) Hi, Download the 5.1 firmware manually (links can be found in post #1) and try the Shift +Restore method. If apple is still signing the 5.1 firmware, then it should work. If I'm still on iOS 5.0.1, what should I do now? I connect to Itunes and its forcing me to update to 5.1.1, is there any other way to just upgrade 5.1 only? Why do you want to upgrade anyway? You are on a firmware that can be jailbroken untethered (which is what everyone wants). |

QUOTE(pekoejazzy @ May 8 2012, 08:55 AM) You are right about that. However, there is an imminent possibility that 5.1 can be JB, so while Apple still signs 5.1, we should quickly move to 5.1 first. I'm pretty fedup with 5.0.1 battery issues and invalid sim issue. That's the catch 22 situation we are in (4s) owner I mean. But based on musclenerd tweet, the exploit for 5.1 can still be used on 5.1.1 so I'm not losing my jailbreak. Not worth it. The battery issue can be handled with chargers in the office/home/car so I personally don't have any issues (not too much anyway). |

QUOTE(unequalteck @ May 9 2012, 07:02 AM) Not necessarily. During the period when Apple is signing 5.0.1, If you open Cydia several times, then maybe it will try and save it. This is a hit & miss thing. That is why I usually do it manually with TU every time a new firmware is out. The next version of redsn0w will allow for 4s/iPad 2 downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.1 assuming you have SHSH saved. So finally they have found the way to do it. The more reason why you should always always save SHSH blobs. |

The new redsn0w will UPGRADE your firmware to 5.1.1 first before doing the downgrade so the baseband will be updated. So if you are using a locked set, do not be silly. Stay put at your current firmware that is currently working with whatever unlock method you are using.
I will update the 3rd post with the guides for Mac & Windows. |

Make sure you switch on the 3G or cellular data first.
