I feel the cruise control will be bad for FC. Cause it need to rev the engine in order to maintain the speed you set.

Cause the highway along KL to Melaka have lot of hills. I feel it will be better we juggle the pedal ourselves by the ECO or 5min consumption screen.

Anyway you really have good FC compare my average is 22-24km/l.
*
To be honest, I was surprised too. I thought the Fc should be bad when using CC. However, it turned out to be otherwise. I will try CC with some intervention next time to see if can further boost up the FC.

BTW, the CC in PC is a bit strange because when I press accelerator, the manual function over rides, but when I release it, the CC function resumes. I thought once we press the accelerator, the CC should be cancelled. Not too sure if my unit is defective ???

CC you can speed up with accelerator but will only cancel with braking.
*
Ok, thanks. I did not use the brake, but reduce the speed of CC instead. When the traffic did not allow, I just turned it off.

i agree lo..CC sumtimes juz not so suitable in MY coz too many slope and uneven roads..i tried on highway but hafway i cancel it coz i found bad for my FC..
*
I think I should increase the speed a bit when going down a steep slope and vice versa. Otherwise the energy will be lost as the battery level is already high. Will try next time

For those who pay cash, remember to deduct RM50 from the purchase price as there is no hire purchse claim fee.

Making some progress in FC over the last 3 months. I have traveled 593km, and still have 4bar+ of petrol (shown as 5 bars)

Highly recommend Viva 660. Cheap, very good FC, no matter how hard you press the pedal, 15km/l is easily achievable. City use no need air-bag lah. Lowest price in the market, unlikely to be a target of car theft

I have traveled about 900km since the last petrol re-fill. The tank still has 2 bars. Trip meter shows 29.7km/l.

Added on July 11, 2012, 10:17 pmI have been using my car for 3 months, thinking of waxing it. Can anyone recommend a good car wax ? Currently, I am using the "99" Brand wax for my wife's car. but thinking of getting a better one for my PC.

It has become my hobby to get a good FC. A kind of challenge.

Traveled to Melaka again from PJ today using cruise control set at 85km/hr. Average speed was 70km/hr, including Melaka city. FC was 29.3km/l.

i should learn from u..if normal city drive, how u drive n wat speed?
*
If possible, keep around 70km/hr. (1) You can check your real time FC on "5-min" page, (2) your eco score will also give you an idea how good your FC is. If it is >80, it should be good, (3) keep your ecoscore accelerator indicator around the first section will give you >29km/l.

Release your pedal to slow down rather than applying brake if you see there is a jam ahead. If you need to apply brake, the decceleration should be done gradually.

For a long distance travel, I found out recently that it is not a must to have a high % EV to achieve a good FC. You can keep the battery fully charged all the way yet you can still achieve > 29km/l. I have tried cruise control set at 95 & 85km/hr. I will try 75km/hr tomorrow.

EV is very useful when u drive in car park or housing area. No engine sound & no carbon emission. Of coz ensure you don't over accelerate & your battery is full.

You can observe the different by using the ECO screen which good in showing how much you press on the pedal.

Enjoy the car  thumbup.gif

I think Garet meant the ECO button. I have not used it too. I think there might be a difference. I guess if you press the ECO button, and your battery has sufficiently power supply, the car will not switch to petrol engin. On the other hand, if you do not, the car engin will start if you try to accelerate. If this is not true, I agree that the button is redundant.

I noticed that if the battery is charged when traveling at a low speed, the EV can last longer. When charged at high speed, the energy stored seems to be much lower, i.e. very fast consumed.

Once the battery is sufficiently charged during long distance traveling, the fuel consumption is easily above 26km/l when cruise control is used.
These are my observations for single passenger case:

75km/hr = 31-32km/l
85km/hr = 29-30km/l
95km/hr = 28-29km/l
100km/hr = 27-28km/l

Manually controlled average @55km/hr = 34-35km/l

Conducted another experiment today.

Normally. I would try to drive on EV mode (without pressing the EV button) until the battery power is consumed and allowing the petrol engine to charge again. This can only be done, of course, when driving at a low speed. So when I reach office or home, the battery power level is at the minimum.

Today, I tried to avoid using the battery power as much as I could, i.e. ramp up the engine and then reduce the speed. As expected, I noticed that the car is more powerful when the battery is fully charged. What surprised me was that the FC was not compromised with this method, i.e. 28+km/l. With the battery almost fully charged, I could possibly increase my FC by another 1-2km/l. This is normally what I achieve. So, low speed is the factor in deciding FC, not the EV mode.

There are 3 FAQ I always receive:

(1) How long can the battery last

My answer: The battery can last as long as the life time of the car. However, if you are unlucky, you may get a faulty unit

(2) How much does it cost to get the battery replaced?

My answer: RM8k

(3) How is the pick up of the car ?

My answer: I have never tried the pick up performance because that is not my purpose of owning the car. I bought it because of the good safety features and duty free. I wanted a hatch back car so that the passengers at the back will not be exposed to sun light and also the temperature inside the car will not be too high when parked under the hot sun because unlike a sedan car, the areas of the car that exposed to sun light is less.

found out today my rear tyre got sound.. the sound can be hear if u wind down your side windows. the sound is not loud and it sound "ring ring ring"...

you all have that?

yesterday i found out after my car serviced, the tyre tubs closer is missing on 1... i think that bangi toyota service center really have to avoid.

pump my prius c this morning, the fuel consumption for 32little of petrol only can drive for 700km...

Mine is squeaking sound. Not from the tyre.

I just pumped petrol yesterday. 25litres for 714km. May be my daily journey is smoother than yours. PJ>Shah Alam in morning and back in evening.

Which petrol brand you using? mine almost 40% of the road is smooth, i already tried my best to drive on the EV situation, and usually i got 28KM/L at least.. suppose i should have 896KM for 32 litres.. but look like the meter is not so accurate

actually the rear sound not really from the tyre... seems to be somewhere after the tyre start spining..
*
I am using BHP because UOB Bank gives me 5% cash rebate plus 2% smart cash. For my case, actual FC based on km traveled per actual petrol litres used is about 1km lower than the displayed km/l figure. I presume that it is due to the evaporation of the petrol as I park my car under the hot sun during weekdays.

Tried to connect my phone to the audio system by Bluetooth but not successful. Looks like the audio set does not come with the Bluetooth function despite the manual indicates otherwise
