managed a 1600 @ 7-7-7 (1.6v iirc)/1800 @ 8-8-8 (1.65v iirc) on rana before. didn't have d chance to test it any longer as i just had d ram for a day or 2.  smile.gif

U poison me buying this ram actually, i see ur review back then. biggrin.gif Ive tried 1.65v 1800 default clock, can boot but not stable. i guess my mobo is not really friendly in overclocking laugh.gif. But i think 1600 @ 8-9-8-24 still ok considering the dfault is cl11.. Btw will it likely easier to oc if i only run 1 stick?

I wonder why when i oc my ram and set the voltage to 1.65v, every time i shut down, my system turn on again. when i use 1.5v or1.8v, no problem. Oh yeah my ram could only hit cl7 @ 1333mhz. but i will test it on my amd system, see how low it can go. my asus c4f just back from rma & asus swap it new. rclxm9.gif

Hi guys, i wonder why my 3570k really2 hot. Currently test it @ 4.5Ghz, 1.29v. Highest temperature @ 100c & increasing, using both CoreTemp & RealTemp. sweat.gif Cooled with NH-D14. Fan is set to highest, mobo ASRock Z77 Extreme 4. Stress test it using LinX 0.6.4. Is my cooler not good or my proc is just bad ? sad.gif

Ivybridge are really hot. That's standard temp with air cooling... i guess
*
But last time when i was using Hyper 212 Evo, even @ 4.4Ghz, my temp didnt even hit 95c. But after using NH-D14, even wit the same frequency & voltage, it's hitting 95c. There's must be something wrong. Going to buy new thermal paste later but now most shop still closed since its hari raya week. sad.gif

The temps u got sounds legit since my old 3570K hit 90C under water in ambient ~34C
4.5GHz @ 1.3v, it was a bad chip. There's nothing you could do until you got a better chip or remove the IHS  biggrin.gif

Added on August 20, 2012, 9:08 pmI highly doubt that Noctua will perform worse than Hyper212.
Remount and re-appy TIM might help.
Also, cannot compare old LinX/prime95 with the latest version packed with AVX instruction which is more stressful + win7 SP1.
Besides that, different LLC level also will contribute to the difference (load vCore different).
*
I don't have the guts to remove the IHS. laugh.gif Hmm. either sell this proc and get 3770k or stuck @ 4.4Ghz... I spend about RM600++ buying new mobo and cooler just to be disappointed wit my chip. sad.gif
Anyway i will try buy a new thermal paste 1st, see if it helps or not. But i doubt it will decrease the temp more than 3c.

THIS guy had his CPU die scratched & died. My advice is to be very careful when using knife or razor blade sp that you dont accidentally cut the die & know the location & size of the die. Once overshoot then gg already. Ones must have balls to do this job. Good luck on deliding.
Well that was extreme. laugh.gif I will do more reading and thinking before i decide to open the IHS or not. rclxub.gif

Done some tweaking last night, 4.5Ghz @ 1.26v. Manage to get it stable running LinX for 25 runs. Stress test in an air-condition room. Highest temperature @ 93c. Forgot to take screenshot just before the test stop. doh.gif

Also manage to get it boot @ 4.6Ghz(1.3v) & 4.7Ghz(1.36v) but when running Linx for like 2 run, the temperature almost hitting TJMax. So i stop before i risk damaging my processor. sweat.gif

Something wrong with your GFlops looks rather lower than expected 100ish.
*
Just realise when you pointed it out. laugh.gif I dont know what happen with the gflops there, maybe that has something to do with my ram? hmm.gif During this test, i put my ram @ 1600Mhz & default timing (11-11-11-??).

Now i ran @ 2000Mhz (11-12-12-29), 1.65v. Not really good timing there. sweat.gif 1.7v++ needed if i want to go 2133++ or lower timing. But i kept it under 1.7v just to be safe. It seems i can oc ram much better with this mobo compare to my old 1 (Z77A-G43). Gflops now @ 112. smile.gif

Edited my post. smile.gif Btw i just placed an order for THIS unit from Newegg Malaysia. Hopefully can get the item asap. rclxms.gif Btw kinda noob question, is it safe if i run my ram @ 1.7v++? Cos ivy bridge only support up to 1.575 if im not mistaken? unsure.gif I do some reading, most people not recommend running more than 1.575v with SB and IB cos it will damage the proc.

i did not try the LLC. dont really sure about the setting.mind to shed some lights?

Have you tried running the proc on stock voltage? Last time i didnt even change the voltage setting, just set it to auto and increase the multiplier to 4.1Ghz, seems to work & stable. Cannot help you to test cos i already in kl, no pc. sad.gif

when Vcore on auto, it can boot n stable at 4.1. but i think the Vcore is too high if set to auto. thats why i plan to OC it manually by setting the lowest Vcore.
*
4.1Ghz @ 1.175V should be okay. Run IBT or LinX for 20-25 run. If stable, lower the vcore until bsod/failed. Do refer the 1st page for BSOD code, its very useful to determine what causes of instability. For the LLC, you can refer on the mobo manual. Page 2-15, 2.4.5-DIGI+VRM. smile.gif
