Good luck in binning. In case you're not know yet, try look for 3218 costa rica chip.
Was told there are many golden chips come from that batch  icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for sharing bro... Will look into this goldies.
The chip which I'm looking for is not only low VID, it must have a good IMC to do 2800+ mem as well. (greedy) biggrin.gif
Somehow I think I got problem with my luck, need to go temple pray2 mandi bunga first before buying CPU. sweat.gif doh.gif
Looking forward to seeing your CPU kissing 7GHz on subzero drool.gif drool.gif

Ivy bridge seems to release a lot of heat compare to Sandy...

just got my 3570k for few weeks, oc it to 4.0 with stock cooler.
prime test for few minutes, the temp reach around 90 already.
any sifu got ways to step down the temp?
tried step down the PLL to the Min and offset vol to +0.005v only, yet the heat... oh mai..

btw, my mobo is Asrock Extreme4 Z77
*
If you don't mind voiding Intel warranty, might consider to remove the IHS and reapply a 3rd party TIM such as Arctic MX-4 like THIS
I believe you could squeeze out about 10C off those core temps.
I myself will definitely delid it after I found a golden chip. biggrin.gif
Now start aiming for 5GHz 4C8T @ 1.3x notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Managed to do some quick tests on the Costa Rica 3218B123

I think this is the very first time I could finish Vantage CPU tests @ 5.0GHz without throttling. smile.gif

so the suggestion about this 3218 batch is true. They generally have low VID thus consume low voltage & good IMC up to 2800 dram easy.
I will try the Malay chip tonight hopefully it's not a dud touchwood smile.gif
Still looking for a 5GHz 4C8T @ 1.3v LinX

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Jul 5 2012, 09:33 AM)
You don't use stock cooler.
With decent cooler, IB can clock to 4.3GHz with reasonable temp.

arghh nearly forgot about 3rd party air cooler i quickly jump to delid solution LOL biggrin.gif

as promised, got some time to play with the 2nd 3770K, MALAY batch L220B296
It consumes slightly lower vcore & cooler than the Costa 3218B123

LOL good question. biggrin.gif
Hard to decide bro i think i will keep both until i found a 5GHz HT 1.3v chip or wait for my $$ turns to subzero then only dumb these haha

But one thing for sure,

I WILL KEEP HUNTING!!

Added on July 6, 2012, 9:44 amVCCSA attempted for 2800 was 1.35v
VCCIO 1.35v
2709 takes 1.25v respectively

The Costa does 2800 at 1.25v VCCSA & VCCIO

Just now I try to OC my processor to 4.4GHz....
But for 1 hour only, then I revert back to the factory settings...
Afraid to see so much heat produced by my processor..., possibly it can turn into chocolate chip cookies if I continue to OC this processor  sweat.gif  notworthy.gif

Anyway, can I OC the integrated HD4000? WEI score seems too low for the IGP....  sad.gif

Your CPU speed is throttled down once you hit 105C so it's not really the frequency you set in BIOS.
Try lower clock and lower vcore to get below 105C.

I'm not sure whether your mobo allows IGP OC you might wanna go through this:

Finally I've decided to remove the IHS & replace the TIM with MX-4.

Before:

3770K L220B296 @ 5.0 GHz 1.44v
WC: EK HF + 2x RX360 + 12x GT + D5 + EK Top + EK X2 Ad 250 Res + EK FC7970
Ambient: 30C

After:

Ambient temp: 34C

So that's around 8-14C improvement. rclxms.gif thumbup.gif
That was on I will test it under Quad TEC later, followed by sandwiched Quad + single TEC. biggrin.gif

After replacing the TIM now I could run LinX 5.0GHz HT @ 1.416v load.
Look at the GFlops. biggrin.gif

Stopped halfway & will rerun 20+ iterations tonight when the ambient goes down.

update:

Finished 20 iterations... so 1.41v BIOS set is the lowest vcore for 5.0GHz HT

I've checked in the BIOS settings and seems that the option to click on the vcore settings are greyed out (unable to click)
*
yeah I've just checked the manual this mobo doesn't allow vcore adjustment so it will decide the voltage for you automatically at limiting value.
I believe all you could do is to play with the ratio aka multiplier only.
well, this B75 chipset is not meant for OC that's why you can't expect much from it and so for 3450.

bad to bad if upgrading from my m5g
btw the Thunder FX is good? Kevin u bought m5f bundle Thunder FX or not?
*

Basically both MVG and MVF perform very well
Can't see what's the difference in terms of normal OCbility unless if you're playing extreme cooling in which MVF can take more MORE voltage.
I personally think that MVG is a brilliant little monster that you won't be missing anything on this board.

Gene = Small form factor
Formula = everything you will ever need
Extreme = as above but more features & accessories that are extra for you

My Formula doesn't come with the TFX, as I don't really need a sound for a 100% benching rig. nod.gif

Just lurking around reviewson TFX, seems it is not performing as good as Asus Essence series? Found out the new sound card from asus. Asus Phoebus. Seems gooding thumbup.gif
*

I will let audiophiles to comment on the sound quality of TFX vs Essense. biggrin.gif
it all depends on your ears and if you can hear the difference.

Good evening fellow OC'ers ... I'm newbie in overclocking. Just want to share my 1st overclocking attempt on air  rclxms.gif Ambient temp of 33.5 C in room w/o air cond. Specs on my sig

Also, want to ask one question. Is 40 C a normal idle temp (for air cooling) on 33.5 C ambient temp w/o aircond? I googled idle temp on good air cooling is around 30 (ambient temp of 25 C) on most forum... I'm using thermalright archon heatsink with a TY-140 fan and Gentle Typhoon AP-15 (temporary fan before another TY-140 arrived) in push-pull config. Hope any1 can give an insight on this.

Looking forward to see my name on the 1st page  icon_rolleyes.gif

The core temps is normal, considering your ambient temp is that high.
Did you try any lower vcore?

i'll bump +0.015v now....
1 thing is it ok 1.5 ram running 1.585v?
stated here scroll down by lingloong this 1333MHz ram easily run 1600MHz,but may b possible with 1.585v
later i'll test after cpu stable...
*
As you could overvolt CPU so does the dram right?
Just give it a bump dram can take high vdimm w/o dying or degrading.

wats the point having it stated 1.5V while it works over tat btw....hehe

because it is tested stable with 1.5v at rated speed/timing so they label it as 1.5v.
don't be surprise to see a 1600, 1866 or 2133 etc Vengeance having the same ICs as your 1333 kit but they're labeled @ 1.6v & 1.65v smile.gif
