POPULUS ROMANUS

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

A fairly decent strategy game that comes with a nice cheap price tag. The units may not be historically correct, for example the roman legions did not exist until after the Marius Reforms, which was way after the scenario depicted in this game. Nonetheless its a pretty fun game, if not graphically impressive. A mixture of luck (hit chance) and strategy, the game relies heavily on troop positioning to win the game, by flanking the enemy to get that much needed combat advantage bonus.

Here's to hoping for a campaign and unit editor. There is much potential in this Already a fun game at a decent price tag, the dev perhaps need to do a little more homework and perhaps add some additional variety to the units to fit the scenario, rather than the other way around, making the scenario fit the units already available. Strategy fans ought to give this a go. But if u want something deeper, see Wesnoth, which was reviewed a while back.

Blogger's Comments

You know, there are the games that are worth honourable mention in this blog. And then there are games that should really just be in the top 5 list in android playstore but just arent. THIS is one of those games! Tapping frenzy doesnt get much more adrenaline pumping and action packed than this. A truly remarkable gameplay experience, the game puts you in charge of up to two ships, your flagship and one escort. You can choose these ships which to fit your gameplay strategy. Each ship has different abilities.

Enough of technicalities and lets move on to gameplay. The game progresses where your ships start to move, and enemy ships, planes, dive bombers, torpedoes, missiles, land fortresses, tanks, turrets, you name it, the game throws it to you as an enemy. You have to destroy these bad guys and their bullets by shooting at em. Adapting the old ATARI style missle defence, tapping on the screen launches rockets at the area, and when it explodes it deals damage. So you'll have to be quick and time your shots taking into account your missile travel time and the enemy ship's movements and such.

But there's more! Your ships may have some awesome secondary weapons as well, which are activated by dragging from your ship outwards. For example you can set the arc of your close range anti air defence which is automated, or command your escort to fire several rounds of extremely damaging cannon fire at a tight arc.

Combined with wonderful voice acting and sound effects such as the random, chaotic sounds of planes, ships, and men screaming and dying in their death throes as their jetplanes splinter apart from your barrage of firepower, this game deserves 5/5 stars in every department!

Whether you're looking for a quick 5 minute thrill or are an action gaming fan, this game is a MUST have.

There's a free arcade version available i have not tried, but presumably perhaps is an arcade wave version of the paid campaign version this review is based off.

Monster Shooter

Monster Shooter is a blindingly phenomenal 2D shooter where absolute annihilation is the name of the game. Graphics and sound are pretty flawless and with over 30 levels I’d be hard pushed to name a better free game. Definitely give this liberal dose of arcade-heaven a go and before you know it, you’ll be happily knee-deep in lumpy alien remains.

Xelorians is an awesome shoot’em up inspired by arcade console games of the 90s. Your goal is to blast Xelorian invaders, dodge enemy fire, collect powerups while scoring the highest score possibly to complete the mission.

At first I thought it was some weird app that showed 100 doors, but once I realized it's actually a puzzle game that utilizes not just the screen but also the phone's sensors, things became a lot more interesting. The game is relatively simple, but gets tricky pretty fast.

Advance to the next floor by solving the puzzle!
40 levels of puzzles are waiting to be solved! More levels on the way.

Yes some apps is country restricted.
You need root access and certain apps to get them.
Not sure how though.
Ask those pros.

any RPG to recommend ?
*
I play a lot of RPGs on my Android. If you like stuff like Zenonia, just look for more titles from Com2uS and Gamevil!

I have a few to recommend:
1. Elphis Adventure
2. Seed 2
3. Seed 3
4. King Pirate I
5. King Pirate II
6. Apocalypse of Skyland I
7. Kingdom Story
8. Inotia 3
9. Destinia
10. Caligo Chaser
11. ADVENA

Here's a review that I did of Elphis Adventure. You can check out https://www.facebook.com/Applorer for more reviews on Tuesdays smile.gif

This week’s review is on a game recommended by Applorer in mid-April this year…

*** ELPHIS ADVENTURE! ***

The character designs are amazingly cute (as seen in the screenshot)!! As you can guess, this game is based on the old children’s tale of the Little Red Riding Hood.

B-O-R-I-N-G? Far from it. We’ll tell you why this game is worth your time.

Gameplay –

You start off in the seemingly conventional story of the Little Red Riding Hood where she goes out to pluck apples for her grandmother to make a salad. She then returns home to find her grandmother, somehow looking a little… different. Big ears, big arms, big teeth-kind of different. Hmm… Something doesn’t seem right here.

Suddenly, the Big Bad Wolf breaks out of his disguise and pounces…!

And he gets knocked out by Dr. Gordon’s huge time-travelling machine. This is where everything stops being conventional! This game plays like a casual RPG as you learn new skills and battle Maplestory-ish monsters (like slimes) with Red Riding Hood’s giant hammer. Follow the comic story as the Little Red Riding Hood as she travels through different time periods to battle Dr. Gordon’s enemy, Dr. Kroan, and rescue her grandmother from his evil clutches!

In this game, you can shape the growth of Little Red Riding Hood’s base statistics by choosing which ones to boost with the points that you get whenever you level up. Shop for and equip new items to increase those statistics! You can also customize her looks with various accessories and costumes and this can change her statistics as well.

For people who have finished the plot and want to continue playing on their game file, there’s an infinite dungeon where players can continue to indulge in whacking monsters to no end.

Review –

The monsters have more health points than you would expect and they take quite long to defeat! It’s more challenging than I expected from a casual RPG. But it’s still very playable and enjoyable!

The only reminder that I have for you, as with all other RPGs, is REMEMBER TO SAVE!! Once, I had to close the app on my phone to do something else, and I couldn’t save at that particular point of the story. And when I loaded the game again, I had to re-fight a boss! I stopped playing for the rest of that day.

But this game is just too cute. Seriously. Little Red Riding Hood is endearingly silly and her character provides a lot of comic relief in the plot. The graphics are adorable. The game is fun and it’s still a very recommended title!

Rating: 4.2 / 5

By the way, i highly recommend this app called Applorer for all avid Android gamers. It recommends the best free games on Google Play. You should try it if you love gaming: http://applo.re/app1
