Trade, battle, pirate & bounty for galactic riches in an epic space sci-fi RPG

"Star Traders RPG" is a FREE Version -- play as much as you want before you go Elite. E-Mail us if you need help!

Experience the Elite Upgrade: Epic new content includes 2,000 new Sectors, 200 additional Zones and more than 150 exclusive art files. Take your space based adventures to a huge next galaxy.

The paid version adds 200 ships, 110 planets, 200% rumors, twice as many officers, awards and content.

You can copy your profile/Captain from Star Traders RPG to Elite.

From the first day i bought, downloaded, and played this game, I am still terribly in love with it. The game is essentially a turn based like game. You can take your time, and think through your decisions before making them. You start out by choosing a class, a starting faction, and a ship. And then the game begins. There is no "plot" or "linear storyline" but the game progresses as however you wish it to be! While people who game for some interesting twists or plots, this game is more of testing your abilities to strategise and plan. Also when you die, you're dead, and must start over (unless you play on the lower level difficulties which i think takes away the fun).

What makes the game really shine is the immense amount of mechanics behind the game. No two games are ever the same making replayability insane. First off while other games like this are simple "buy from point A, go to point B and sell" there's no way you can do this in Star Traders. The mechanics of the game relies heavily on "rumours", which are essentially random events that occur throughout the galaxy. You can find out about these rumours if you're lucky by visiting Spice Halls or going to the location whereby the rumour is taking place. So you can only make a profit by trading if you actually find a planet having a shortage of a commodity.

Speaking of random events, there are several stuff like pirate attacks, merchants abusing the populace, alien attacks, or even open warfare! Every single rumour has implications. If you're a pirate stuff about a planet doing well means more ships going in and out, and richer pickings when u attack these ships for example! Also while going about discovering rumours and building a name for yourself and upgrading your ship, you have to balance out diplomacy between the factions. While you choose your starting faction, it doesnt mean you have to stick with it. As part of the random events mechanics, these factions (there are 6 of them) can do stuff like have alliances, go to war, have a spy battle, etc, and everything you do would most certainly affect one faction or another. If you're really careful you could stay on the good sides of everyone but with so many conflicts it is unlikely. Piss a faction off too much they will start sending ships to hunt you down, or even get neutral parties to join in the bounty hunt! Meanwhile a faction that favours you would give you discounts, etc. These random events are essential to the game and what makes every game different. It ain't easy either, especially because there can be several conflicts or alliances going on at any time. If you accept a mission to do something naughty to faction A, faction A's allies faction B will get pissed off too. And then Faction C, faction A's enemies would be happy! So every action has far reaching consequences.

There is also insane amount of character development. You (as a captain) have several skills and attributes that you can raise as you level up, each with different uses. And then there's the hundreds of types of ships you can buy, and then the several dozens of upgrades that you can make to the ship to customise it the way that suits you best.

And then there's officers you can hire. Morale of your crew you have to take care of. Fuel. Water.

Yes, there's so much to do. But if it's overwhelming or you need help, the game has a very active community that the Devs get involved in as well! There are constant updates to make keep the game alive! Definitely one this Blogger's most favourite game for android. It doesnt have flashy graphics. But I have not seen a mobile game with as much dept as Star Traders.

You can try the free version of the game before purchasing. But its definitely worth purchasing. This blogger recommends DEMANDING difficulty for beginners. And then slowly progress to INSANE.

title : PES2012

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

We reviewed the previous PES game, the 2011 edition way back in the early part of the year and really liked it, citing its gameplay on a touch screen as its best feature, good enough to forgive a lack of content and multiplayer options.

So, you would hope that this 2012 release will simply add some tweaks to the gameplay, a few new modes and that all important multiplayer component? Well, I have to say I do feel disappointed with this iteration of the franchise, as while it adds a couple of interesting modes the game feels largely untouched, save for a few minor modifications here and there.

Think of it as a step sideways rather than a step forward, with all the new bits feeling like a piece of DLC for the previous game.

The game plays just as well as the last one, with smooth play across large pitches. Through balls, headers and shooting all feel just as natural, and the developer has made sprinting far better, because if you are controlling a decent player, you can now smoothly change direction and stop with a much higher degree of control than before. This is probably the best thing that has been added to the entire game. Stroking the ball around the pitch is still as satisfying as it was, with goals still pretty tricky to score on the higher difficulty settings.

The player A.I seems to be the same, which is to say very good as players still intelligently run off the ball and cover quite well in defence. The graphics have been given a minor face-lift, appearing sharper all round, even in the menus. Still no commentary.

The game features many of the same modes of the last game, so you have Exhibition, league/cup, and the two European leagues to play in. A quick match also puts you in a random match inside of a minute, and there are new Super Challenge and Challenge modes. These are both community based, so for example in the Challenge mode, you can challenge your friends, either from Facebook or other contacts lists to a set of gameplay challenges and compare and compete with the results.

This is the main new addition and it is pretty good, with the game able to branch out beyond itself. If you have a few PES 2012 friends on Facebook, the competition can get really interesting, and the addition of leaderboards here is good. The new free kick mode is a fairly nice time waster.

The massive problem is that those are the only new modes, so if you were waiting for a Master or Career mode you are going to be bitterly disappointed. The same goes for multiplayer. There is no way to play against your friends directly, and it really makes me question why the option has been left out, after all some of the tiniest one man studios working in their spare time have managed to add a simple two player local WiFi options to their Android games. To have it missing from the last release was forgivable, but two years in a row, from one of the biggest game studios in the world? Shameful, especially when the iOS version of this very game has a full multiplayer suite, with both Bluetooth and WiFi play.

The great replay feature remains, and the training mode has been improved but I can’t find any new options when it comes to organising and managing your teams. The fact that you can’t set each players individual behaviour is an annoyance. I may want a player in the middle of the pitch, but I can’t set him to be an attacking or defending midfielder for example, and there is no way to alter the set formations.

The big question has to be, if you bought the first game, is this one worth buying? It gives me no pleasure to say that no, if you already have PES 2011 then I can’t recommend this new game. The new social and free kick modes are a nice addition, but they are the only additions content-wise, so unless you really want to swap scores with your Facebook friends then you will have to give this a miss and either go back to PES 2011, try out Real Football’s wealth of modes or wait for the arrival of FIFA 12.

New players, especially PES fans from other formats should consider this as one of the silkiest playing soccer games available with the best gameplay of any soccer game currently on Android. Anyone in between those two polar opposites I would point to Real Football.

Great gameplay, but a case in point of a developer sitting on its laurels, and when compared with the iOS version a bit of a slap in the face for Android fans. You can pay us more but you will get less.

FPSE Playstation Emulator on Android (running Diablo on Android)

Strictly not exactly a game (an emulator), but its just so frickin cool to have Diablo running on your phone that i just HAD to bring it to attention.

FPSE is basically one of the fastest playstion emulators out there for android. It sure as hell beats any iphone playstation emulator, and it beats any cheap knock offs on the android store. It has a very strong foundation and beginning with development starting during the windows mobile (not windows phone) era, before iphone 2G came out. Development has continued and the devs have been kind enough to make it for android as well! Do support their hard work and development by purchasing this emulator.

Reason why i ran diablo to test run the emulator is because its one of the hardest games to emulate, since its gotta render the entire map with monster and mobs etc. Dont ask me to emulate Final Fantasy, simple because if it can emulate Diablo, it can 1000000% emulate any Final Fantasy playstation title. Final Fantasy is actually very easy since the game actually has scenes so the emulator is actually taxed very little to emulate that game.

Anyway, above is a video i had made some time ago showing FPSE on S2. Results may vary device per device, and from my testing Tegra 2 devices far poorly compared to other dual core processors. ie hardly playable. For diablo anyway.

Devices with similar specs to S2 like the Samsung Note for example and any device above (in before the quadcore generation) SHOULD be able to run this emulator just fine.

XENOWAR (X COM ADAPTATION)

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

QUOTE
Battle aliens in this strategy game (inspired by X-COM and board games) that pits Earth against alien invaders. Build bases, research new weapons and technology, and send troops to alien hot spots on the geo map. Then fight turn based tactical battles in cities, farms, alien battleships, and more.

Features 3D graphics, retro 8 bit SFX, shadows, particles, and fog of war.
More info at http://www.xenowar.net and http://xenowar.wikispaces.com/.
NOTE: Xenowar uses extensive OpenGL graphics. A Nexus One, Droid 2, Droid Incredible, or comparable/better device is recommended. After download, please test the app, you have 15 minutes to return if there are issues.

Blogger's Comments

If you remember X Com : Enemy Unknown, or the more modern PC incarnations, UFO series, you are awesome. If not, it's time get back up to speed.

It is a great strategy game that basically has a campaign map, the map of the world, and the battle map. You start the game choosing where you want to set up your base, which continent, and then equips your ships, and soldier to get ready to win back Earth from alien invasion. Encounters with the aliens are random. If you shoot down the alien ship and they crash you can visit them with your team and kill off the aliens and salvage some loot. Gameplay is turn based tactical, with a lot of emphasis on line of sight and fog of war. Dont expect to rush into the fray and win the battle. It takes a lot of cunning and strategic thinking to win a battle.

If you love strategy, tactical turn based skirmishes, be sure to get this game. Graphics has nothing to scream about, its simple, but it does the job. The gameplay is what counts. Also has replayability. Definitely recommended for strategy fans, and X Com / UFO fans will feel right at home with this lightweight adaptation.

MUPEN64Plus (STARCRAFT on Android)

Blogger's Comments.

Not many people know that Starcraft was actually developed for Nintendo 64 as well. There is just so, so much win here, that i just have to share with people. Who could ever boast Starcraft running on their handheld?! It takes some practice since you dont have a mouse, but once u configure the layout to suit your needs you'll have no problems! Its absolutely wonderful on my Galaxy Note's big screen as well. If you need more motivation to play Starcraft on your android, how's this, taken from wiki :

QUOTE
In 2000, StarCraft 64 was released for the Nintendo 64, co-developed by Blizzard Entertainment and Mass Media Inc. The game featured all of the missions from both StarCraft and the expansion Brood War, as well as some exclusive missions, such as two different tutorials and a new secret mission, Resurrection IV. Resurrection IV is set after the conclusion of Brood War, and follows Jim Raynor embarking on a mission to rescue the Brood War character Alexei Stukov, a vice admiral from Earth who has been captured by the Zerg. The Brood War missions required the use of a Nintendo 64 memory Expansion Pak to run. In addition, StarCraft 64 features a split screen cooperative mode, allowing two players to control one force in-game. StarCraft 64 was not as popular as the PC version, and lacked the online multiplayer capabilities and speech in mission briefings. In addition, cut scenes were shortened. Blizzard Entertainment had previously considered a PlayStation port of the game, but it was decided that the game would instead be released on the Nintendo 64

Review

PS : Game is only in Japanese Language

Fans of gundam games who are used to playing past SD Gundam games on other consoles can easily pick up this game as the game play is still similar to other SD gundam games (PS2,PSP etc), for newcomers, SD Gundam game is strategy chessboard game similar to other strategy titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics etc. The game basically is a stage based game where u select any map from any Gundam series and play them. So far after one month playing, they updated this game weekly by adding more stages, mobile suits (paid and free) and characters where u built up your own army and play each stages. The mission's are fairly simple (ranging from destroy all enemies in map) to (move xxx unit to xxx point), and there's special situation where u can get bonus if u relieve the scene of a gundam series) . Control and menus are fairly simple, u touch and unit and move it to anywhere u want then they will be and option of attacking, special commands (for specific/special units) and end turn. U can also add support attack or support defend i there's any friendly units nearby the unit attacking or defending. Then after completing a mission u will get Capitals where u can purchase mobile suits/pilots/warships. U can also combine your units to create new units or power them up.

5: The License is on the 3rd menu (1st menu : Mobile Suit Shop , 2nd menu : Pilot Shop, 3rd memu : License Shop, 4th menu : Lucky draw shop) u can easily know the license option because its in Gold Colour and cost 315 yen

REBUILD (Zombie Apocalypse Sim)

http://underratedandroidgames.blogspot.com/

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

QUOTE
Gather survivors of the zombie apocalypse and defend your fort against undead attacks. Reclaim one building at a time and put your survivors to work scavenging for food, building houses, rediscovering technology and of course killing zombies.

Beware of rival gangs, illness, thieves and even riots as you rebuild a city in this post apocalyptic turn based strategy game.
    FEATURES
    - Unique turn-based strategy gameplay
    - Randomly generated cities
    - Customizable characters
    - 5 levels of difficulty
    - 7 endings to discover

Blogger's Comments

Have never seen this take on a zombie apocalypse before and I'm definitely adding it to my list of must try android strategy games. The game starts with you naming your character and choosing your starting item. Then its about (turn based) expanding your city, exploring the city, salvaging items from the cities, recruiting more people, killing zombies outside your walled gates. There is a random element of events that occur as well, such as the zombie horde and passing traders. Also when you sourge a building for supplies you may find valueable equipment that boost your citizen's stats. You can also research new techs. You have to manage the morale of your people as well as manage the food and supplies. As your city expands the danger of zombie attacks increases too, as the perimeter of your city increases. Its prudent to often go out and cull the number of zombies outside your perimeter before they get too big a horde and attack your city.

Truly, an interesting sim game. You can take your time to think your actions through. I played on the third level difficulty, and managed to win it, and would definitely be trying the hardest difficulty and hoping it offers a better challenge.

Definitely something original, and replayability is awesome as well. I suggest trying it! After all you have 15 minutes to decide a refund!

PS : Online Game need Internet Connection , strictly Japanese Language (with English Menus)

Fans of Monster Hunter will be able to pick this game up as it is similar except u play in an Arena any fight with huge monsters. When starting a game u have a choice of 3 types of character to choose with different attributes. After creating a character u will be inside a lobby wherein u can choose to Play, Customize, and Shop. When playing, there's a choice either for u to create a new game or join another person's game, when creating a new game u will choose level of stages (varied difficulties/etc) and will be prompt to wait for other people to join or u can straight play a solo mission if u prefer. Up to 4 person can play in an arena at a time and the mission is fairly simple where u destroy the "boss" of the stage. Once completed u will get upgrade points and money wherein u can purchase new weapons/armor etc or upgrade your characters stats.

PS : Korean game, but everything in menu is in English

An easy to pickup hack n slash game where u fight monsters in every stage. Controls are fairly easy, u have directional button to control your character, attack button, roll button (to evade), change equipment and skill slots (skill varies with the type of weapon u equip). There's two types of game, first is mission where u will be thrown down in a dungeon and need to climb up until the top floor, each floor have a number of monsters for u to kill in order to proceed to the next floor, on every 10 stages there will be a boss (HUGE). If your killed in a stage u will be able to continue but u will start with only half of your total health (buy armors or headgear to increase maximum health) or u can buy potions to fill up your health to continue. While survivor mode u will face an onslaught of enemy from wave to wave until your health depletes, playing survival mode unlocks special equipment that's not sell in the game shop (mostly funny weapons ranging from a fish as your sword, boxing gloves etc.) There's two types of items sold in the game shop, one uses coins which u can accumulate while playing Mission or Survival mode and another types require u to make in game purchase of jewels. So far its and enjoyable hack and slash game which doesn't require any brain power (lol) but it can test your patient when you reach upper levels where enemies become stronger and require u to buy new equipment and have fast reflexes.
