Hi guys! I've just started playing FS2004 on my lappie using keyboard. Seriously, FS2004 is fun but I seem to have difficulty controlling the plane. The problem is, I'm using a keyboard and I don't have a numpad:cry:. Then I use the FN key to activate those "num pad" keys. But when I use the key "5", it doesn't seem to level the plane back. Sorry for a noob question because I've just started playing...

key 5 is only used to level left and right.... that means if u wanna turn 10 degrees, u press key 5, the plane will stay at a turn of 10 degrees....

key 5 is not to hold the positiong of the head and the tail....

to do that, u can use autopilot, press Z (only for certain aircrafts)...
but when u press Z, the autopilot system automatically return ur right or left degree turn to 0, means to stabilize the plane...

edit: and yeah, i use keyboard to play... after like months of practice, it works fine for me

I'm playing Falcon 4.0 : allied assault rite now...very hard... no tutorial like MS flight simulator....

guys im using ati 9550, whats the best settings i can apply for fs2004?

probably display settings at Medium.

2X AA, 2X AF on your display card settings, DISABLE AntiAliasing in FS.

Set framerate locked at 23-26

why lock framerate at 23-26??
isn't unlimited better?

Oh... I see... I'm getting better in controlling a plane after some practice. But still don't know how to fly a helicopter...

Dont know if this is normal or my problem, when i am flying an aircraft using joystick, if i do not hold the joystick to back, the nose will head down on his own.

why?

Check if your joystick is calibrated propely 1st


The aircraft nose would also pitch down if u dont hv enough airspeed , u can overcome this by either adding more power or deploying the flaps

helicopter is quite hard... but practice makes perfect...
for helicopter, dont pull the nose up or pull down the tail too much....
just make small changes....

anyone got the link to download some alternative joystick calibration software , something like CH Flightstick Pro.

When I fly a helicopter, I take off straight up... Then I tried to move the plane. Before I can do anything, the helicopter sways left and right vigorously. Even if I don't touch the controls, it will soon or later turn uncontrollable.

just press F4 to set full throttle and the heli will go up...
and it will actually move forward itself...
and yeah, dont press and hold the keys, just tap it once or twice....
which helicopter ur using?

The name of it is something Beta. It takes off easily, but once it's up the ground, it sways left and right like crazy. Is there something that I have to set before take off?

The human eye cannot diffrentiate framerates more than 26. Even if its 100fps you see it as around 26fps.

Set it at 26 and let the pc render other stuff faster.

nope there's nth to set.... i've tried it just now... works fine
i find that u need to really keep it balanced by adjusting the head and the tail....
just tap the keys, never press and hold it..
i jus found out that i can even recover the helicopter when its swaying left to right like crazy to its normal position... hahah
it takes some practice actually...

how do i back a plane out from a gate? you know, thrust reversers arent for reversing the plane

U need something called Active Camera to go to the WingView .

Push back from a gate ?

press Shift + P + ( 1 or 2 )

1 will make the tail go left and 2 will make the tail go right or vice versa
