Bro, you have been asking quite a number of us to wait for WXA, do you know something we dont? wink.gif

If uve waited this long, why not just get the WX series since its already started today? Doesnt really make sense to still go for the older series unless uve got a really special number.

Finally...
Got my car today.. It was a wonderful nite for me and my wife driving our new car..WWV..
Great experience especially when we have to stop at traffic light and people start look at our car..! Hahaha.. Amazing..
Proud to be one of the K5's owner..
Why WWV? U booked early?

But yes, the looks u get at traffic lights, restaurants, petrol stations and as ure driving by is really amazing. On 3 occasions ive even had ppl approach me and ask me bout the car. Twice at TTDI and another at the Tapah RR Shell station. Even while driving on the NSE, when i overtake cars, quite often you see the passengers in the car cocking their heads sideways to get a look at your car. Sometimes, cars in front give you way cuz they wanna see your car. Ive done that myself at times to catch a glimpse of some car which i couldnt recognise from the rear view. I experienced the same thing in 2003 when i first bought the Toyota Vios when it was first launched.

But my best experience so far was when i parked in front of the Toyota showroom in TTDI just 1 week after the launch of the new Camry and the 5-6 customers in the showroom turned around to look at my car almost simultanously. Im sure the Toyota SA's inside werent impressed as nobody handed me a brochure when i walked in to look at the Camry. biggrin.gif

But more importantly, lets hope that the Optima proves to be durable and problem free for many years. That would be a strong statement for potential owners.

Yes, i think this time there will be more participants. But lets wait till everybody has got their cars. Maybe suggest having a TT somewhere in early Aug?

Thought of that as well but tomorrow going outstation and wife got early doctors appointment so dont want to rush...anyway..any tips since i will collect the car and drive it oustation, i guess should be ok right if i dont floor it too much..
Its the same with most new cars. U can drive fast (110-140kmph) but just avoid hard acceleration or braking. Keep the eco button on even on highways as it helps reduce overthrottling. Ull have a really subdued drive but doesnt matter. But pls do check your car tyre pressure first. Most of us here found that it had been over-pressurised.

Based on the list so far, there are 13 Silver cars and 14 Pearl White cars. Quite an even mix. But most importantly guys, spread the news bout your cars and convince more ppl to buy. Let others also enjoy the car as much as we do. biggrin.gif

I just got my car this afternoon. Got some paint dented in the front bumper, but the SA wrote the in deliver list and will re-paint it during 1st Service.

I'm very small size girl. The car really too big. Sit in barely can see the front. Don't really dare to drive this monster. Plan to swap car with my bf's forte ..
Trust me. U just got the car. I too had alot of getting used to changing from the Vios to the Optima. But now after 2 months, im quite confortable. If u run away now, u will never learn to drive d segment cars. Size is not an issue for small drivers since the driver's seat is power adjustable. Its height is more than sufficient for you.

Considering either camry or this car.... I am always an Toyota fag , so can you all tell me how's the reliability of Kia ?? tongue.gif (more concern about the reliability compare to specs) My last car was a camry too... 7 years without any major problem. So help me out please guys
I'll tell u this. Reliability of the older Kia models were crap. New models, nobody knows as its still new. But older Kia models did not have the Chief Designer for Audi during their time. Read thru all the pages on this thread and ull be able to make up your mind. But ill tell u this much, i owned a Toyota for 9 years before i moved to Kia and i too had an excellent experience with them but i refuse to be ripped off by Toyota again. For me safety, handling, value for money and warranty are more important. I believe the Optima will be durable but only time will tell.

If u wana be a boring person who doesnt mind spending alot of money and getting far less in return then go for the Camry. If u want value for money, great design, much higher safety standards, cheaper price, better warranty terms and better handling then go for the Optima.

QUOTE(JuneSeptember @ Jul 1 2012, 11:48 AM)
Good morning my friends,

I've just driven my car up Genting yesterday, and it didn't really impress me as i've imagined. The power feels lackluster, the automatic gears kept trying to shift higher to save fuel so i was forced to switch it to manual mode. However, handling wise it was good, it gives you the confidence that your car will stick to the line and not roll off the hill. And most importantly of all, a few other camrys were moving at the same pace as I did  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

After four months of ownership, my car has so many dents and damages even i also gave up.
1) Scraped my side skirt against a f**king makeshift private road curb,  vmad.gif
2) Scratched my rear rim badly
3) Few scratches here and there on the car body (it wasn't me, some bastards did those)

As for interior, I wonder why nobody here has ever complained about the clicking noises everywhere in the cabin?
1) I have annoying clicking noise from the sunroof right above my head (it comes from within the sunroof rail)
2) Annoying vibrating noise coming from underneath the front passenger seat
3) Annoying vibrating noise coming from the front left speaker grill on the dash
4) Annoying sound coming from the right side B-pillar, behind my head.
5) Sound coming out from the rear right suspension, it goes "gyaaak" when people step out of the car

(All the sounds come out when you drive over rough road surfaces, very obvious especially when radio is off)

And best of all, went i complained to the service centre during my second service, after 1 day, they told me "Sir, your car is still brand new, we dare not to open up your sunroof and scared that we might cause it to leak in the future. We shall report your problems to the central technical department and they shall contact you." Now my car is due for second service and I have not even received a missed-call from them yet.

Now i just wondering, is my car a lemon? I'd suggest we all list out our car problems here, and compile a list of the problems for future references. Shall we?  sad.gif
Well, im not surprised that you didnt feel the thrust going up Genting. The Optima is underpowered and thats a fact. I thought u should have known that rite? Its 0-100kmph acceleration is 10.9 secs which should tell you that its underpowered. The Optima is slightly heavier than the 2.0 Camry and the 198Nm torque isnt enough. U get the idea.

As for the noises, ive driven for almost 6,000km now and i dont hear any squeek or rattle or vibration anywhere in the car. Everytime i think i heard something, ill off the aircon and radio but i have never heard anything so far. Im very sensative to all these sounds and im glad so far ive not had any issues with this.

Yes we can list the problems but bear in mind that this thread is also visited by potential owners. Sometimes we list these problems, but it may not actually be a problem but it sets off unneccessary alarm bells. Im all for transparency but let's be a bit careful with what we put down.

Yes thats called the twin memory function. Can have 2 settings. The seat will always move backward when u off the engine and engage P to allow easy access.

Alot of problems? Compared to what? U know what ure talking about or not? Most major car manufacturers have issued recalls for various issues. Does it mean all of them are crap? The problems we discuss here do not even warrant a recall.

If ure looking for a car without any problems, then ure better off taking public transport. In 2010, a number of units of the latest Ferrari 458 Italia caught fire at multiple locations worldwide. Does it mean Ferrari's are crap cars and u wont touch them even if u could afford one?

Anything that you make in mass will have a certain percentage of defects. Its the same with any product from hard drives to phones to cars. Anybody in the manufacturing line will tell you there is no such thing as perfection.

Read this before making assumptions la:

Can someone do a comparison of the various features in the Optima vs the 2.0G spec Camry?

Mazda6? That old model with old tech? What a waste. Especially since a new M6 is due next year.

cm98, I think we should list all problems with the car so that everyone can look and compare. If someone has already managed to fix it, they can update for everyones benefit. Trying to limit info isnt' really useful to anyone. Perhaps we get this as a natural insticnt from the way our govt runs this country and controls what info we should get but lets try to share info as much as possible without worrying if ppl will wanna buy the car. If the probs are highlighted and solved, it will make the brand more popular. If they're swept under the carpet .... well, that was the main problem for Proton. Just my suggestion as I'm also interested to understand what the issues are with the car and what are still not solved. tq.
I didnt say dont list. I said check carefully before listing as we sometimes perceive an issue to be a problem when it actually isnt.

For example, saying that my boot is damn hot after driving long distance. Thats not a problem. But if u go listing such stuff on the main, when someone looks at the whole list of similar 'problems', what do u expect them to think? If everybody lists every single rattle or bump, we will have the front page with 200 issues there and u can be sure anybody reading that list will not bother about your solutions. Its bye bye Optima.

I dont have that foul smell but sometimes smell from the outside does into the cabin..like When i was trailling behind a taxi which I think engine needs overhaul, I can smell his fumes but only slightly...not sure if the vents are fully closed for modern cars as I notice this in quite a number of my colleagues cars as well from inspiras to c-class
There is a small problem with the air vents. I got Kia to adjust them but the outside air still comes in. Many of the Toyota vios also had this problem. IM also now getting that bad smell from the aircon for about 10 secs after switching on the aircon after leaving the car for about 5 hrs.

Gonna get it checked out this week. I had the same problem with my Vios.

OK but what requirement would a 2.5L fit into? Its more of a preference rather than a requirement.

Thanks, I think the culprit is because the vents automatically opens (not sure what you call that function-recycle??) when you switch off air con which was not a feature of older cars. dust and insects may find a way inside during this time. I always manually close the vent each time before I switch off the car. My wifes forte now has that damp smell each time she switches on the aircon just like you for 10 seconds before it reverts to normal. Can try getting the SC to change the filter but not sure if it will help...
I dont off the aircon when i off the engine. I leave it as it is so the outside air button does not light up. So i dont think the problem is here. Ive had this problem with my previous Vios as well. I think its due to mould on the aircon fins. Requires a complete chemical cleaning to eradicate smell. Will highlight to Kia.
