when i got my car, wanted to do vkool elite..but then, so to let u know, the car comes with solar cut glass, all windows...and i find it acceptable even without additional tint to the car..the car manage to get to good temperature after less than 2 mins air cond blow..in the end, i put in 50% light trans eco tint cheap cheap all round 6 windows except munroof rm850 minus rm200 voucher, rm650....

hence, the difference u might get before and after might not 'worth it'..of course, thats my thinking
unless, for security reason, then different case
Well said. Most ppl dont realise that the Optima comes with UV cut glass which reduces the heat alot. I too planned to have tint installed but once i started driving i noticed that tinting wasnt really neccessary. My car spends a good deal of time in the sun too (which is why i went for silver) and it doesnt get that hot. In fact, the heat is about the same as my previous Vios with 50% UV protection.

So guys, dont be in a hurry to tint your car. Drive it for about 2 weeks and see first.

exactly what i said earlier...if u that kinda keep laptop or got things inside car, for security reason, go ahead, and tint it...

abt the moodlight which i modded, noticed that it ngam ngam bright enuff to shine ur leather seat at the side..so when no passenger seating, the leather is sort of coloured with red...but not that bright like can hurt ur eyes, but just subtle, soft red...

earlier, i didnt notice coz i compare when i walk in straight to car...optical illusion, like how u see nothing when u walk into dark room from bright room. Slowly, ur eyes will adjust can can see dim
I dont think the tint is gonna keep out someone planning to steal your laptop left on the seat la. tongue.gif

Anyway, what mod u did with the mood lights? I really want mine to be more visible.

Hi Bro, how's the Nexen tyre noise?  It is noticeble or bearly?
I too was planning to change to Michelin but then after driving for some time i feel that the Nexen tyre noise is not as bad as i expected. Surely u cant compare with a Michelin but do keep in mind that changing all 4 tyres to something like Michelin would cost you about 3-4K. As far as braking efficiency and road grip is concerned, its quite ok. Not the best for sure but not bad either. You dont need to worry too much as the car's safety features are also good.

So in short, i didnt think that spending 3-4K to change tyres now was a good decision. Ill change when the tyres wear off in a year or two.

I plan to change to Michelin PS3 right after I get my car. As the tyre shop allow me to trade in RM250 per tyre provided the Nexen tyre is still new.
The better tyre would be the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2. I heard the PS4 is already in the making.

You are right la cm98. the nexen tyre is not that bad. As long as it can grip the tyre is fine. We don't have to spend 3-4k to change to a new tyre. We will wiat until the tyre wear off then we should discuss bout which tyre brand to change...
Yes new tyre models are coming out every few months. So im not gonna change the Nexen now unless i have good reason for it. Ive driven at high speeds on the highway during heavy rain and the tyres did not disappoint. No loss of grip and braking distance is quite ok. Maybe cuz its still new but ill see in about 6 months time.

If not, check out the Nexen N8000, my regular tyre workshop said is a quiet tyre.
It depends against which tyre he is comparing. If he compares against a NCT 5 tyre, the Nexen would be super quiet. biggrin.gif

Anyway, i wont really trust tyre shops about tyre ratings. Most tyre shops will talk very positively about tyres which they wanna push off fast or tyres which are their backbone. Best way to know is to go online and read independent reviews. Many good websites out there. But dont just go for brand. A Michelin may not always be the best. Go for value for money.

Many think the Michelin PS3 is the best out there for this range of cars but in actual fact its the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 2 which comes out top.

How much is Nexen8000, NCT 5, Michelin PS 3 and Goodyear Eagle F1? Do you know CM98?
The PS3 and Assy 2 are top of the range tyres while the NCT is just entry level. Nexen 8000 is somewhere in between. Both PS3 and Assy 2 is about RM900 or less a piece depending on the shop.

You mean Nexen8000 is around RM600 - RM700 or less?
Not sure. Could be. But why bother going for another Nexen tyre if your intent is to change?

hmm... that would increase the fuel consumtion... I will try call goodyear tomorrow to check whether they have 225/45/18, not no, then stick back to PS3
No, Assy 2 comes in 235. I checked earlier tis year. Aiya how much extra consumption are u talkin about la. Almost negligible la. Assy 2 is a much better tyre than the PS3 in many ways. Also more quieter im told.

Bro CM98, how is the issue with your steering wheel feel. Did you get any help from the service centre or get some information on what could be causing this not so good response feeling from the steering especially at high speeds. On the brochure, they mention the steering wheel for the K5 is Hydraulic Power, Rack & Pinion Type. Some modern hydraulic systems also include an electronic control valve to reduce the hydraulic supply pressure as the vehicle's speed increases ie variable-assist power steering. I think ILuvProton might be referring to that in his comment. Can you check with the SC if this car comes with that and maybe that's what is not functioning properly especially in high speeds. Just my 2 cents. Tq.
Nope. The Optima does not come with any electronic valve control for the steering. Thats why the steering is quite heavy in town driving. BUt when speed increases, its flexibility also increases which is not how a variable power assisted steering should work.

The SC said they will replace my rear shock absorbers first and then see the effect on the steering. But i doubt thats gonna solve the problem.

Btw, i wont trust the SA at all. I did 9 test drives at different showrooms and out of all the SA's i spoke to only 1 guy at Red Cube PJ knew what he was talkin about. The rest of them ended up getting more info about the car from me. So no, i dont have any faith in these guys. Their product knowledge is really dismal.

Of course can. Its just a slightly wider tyre thats all.

Actually the information on Optima is quite confusing. If you look at this link (http://www.kia.co.uk/new-cars/range/mid-sized-cars/optima/specification/technical-specification.aspx), it says the car comes with a Motor Power Assisted steering wheel. I think it's worth checking with the service centre on this as it could be some issue there causing you the problems. I'm very interested to know if this can be solved as this is one point that's of concern in me getting the car although I think this car is brilliant in all other aspects. Tq.

Steering System - Motor Power Assisted, Rack and Pinion Type.
Problem is many of the SC centres are still learning about the car since its so new. But ill check up for sure.

Not only wider tyre, is also slightly taller. Since is wider, will the car feel wobble?

user posted image
Wider tyres give you more road surface contact hence better grip and handling especially in wet weather. But some tyres while giving u extra width, also reduce the height thus making the tyre more successible to damage. But since u said its not the case with the Assy 2, then i guess its not an issue.

My only question is what's the meaning of revs per mile? i mean i know the meaning of revs but what does this info mean and how does it benefit / disadvantage?

I think it means how many full rotation per mile. The calculator is at this website : http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculato...-cde-gen-by-svr
Yes i understand the meaning but how does it benefit us? Saves fuel? Doubt it.

US is 10 years bro. We just have to live with this as this is how the Malaysian car market is. More expensive but less warranty periods. All thanks to you know who. sigh.
But right now, Kia Malaysia's warranty terms are the class leading in Malaysia. Even VW's terms cant match Kia's.

Bro, can share the differences between VW and Kia warranty?
Kia warranty is 5 years unlimited mileage manufacturer's warranty while VW warranty is 2+3 years unlimited mileage warrnty with only the first 2 years under VW and the remaining 3 years under insurance or limited warranty.

If not mistaken VW is like Peugeot. Those who bought the car before the 5 years warranty was given, is being given the Extended Warranty Program (EWP), to be fair. So that's why is 3 + 2.  For new buyers is all full 5 years.
-my one cent
Peugeot was always 3 years warranty until a few months ago when they introduced the 3+2 system. If u check the VW website, its still showing the 3+2 system with unlimited mileage for both new and old cars still under warranty. I dont see the full 5 years manufacturer's warranty mentioned anywhere.

I was told differently by VW SA, she told me it is straight 5 years warranty. But not an issue now, already cancel the booking with VW.

Went to KIA yesterday, they still have my loan agreement. Just need to confirm the color and pay DP. K5 price will increase soon. Thats what the SA told me. It turn out, due to issues with MITI, NAZA has to fork out additional 16k/car just to release it from the port. True or not I don't know.

Those who has booked the car is lucky...after this price will increase...
Ive heard price increases being mentioned by almost all car manufacturers as a means of pushing sales. BUt rarely have i actually seen a price increase. I dont think Kia would be foolish to increase price at a time when they are trying to boost sales for the Optima.

Even the all new highest spec of Camry, the 2.5l, is without VSC!!!!!
What a disgrace!!!!!

not laughing bro. in fact we knew your car already arrive just that you can't collect due to AP issues. i am not planning to do any mods now as wanted to use the money for other purposes. if the mods done are nice i might consider it for future
Yes ill let the others be the guinea pigs & try out the various mods. Right now, i wanna focus on making sure the steering and other small issues are resolved first. Mods and other 'upgrades' can wait.
