A UEFI bios looks like this :

user posted image

Other than looking much better than the usual bios setup, it also allows you to select things using the mouse.

Anyway, I believe that the UEFI bios is only compatible with the latest Acer laptop models that come with Windows 8 by default. You won't be able to switch to a UEFI bios from a standard bios.

i bought this laptop on 30 of september and i believe this model is suppose to come with windows 8,even the windows button on the keyboard(beside alt button) is the windows 8 logo, and there is UEFI for my model on acer website... hmm.gif icon_question.gif

Well, in that case your laptop should be eligible for the bios upgrade then since it's not in the upgrade from Win 7 category. hmm.gif Download the file and see what it says.

Hi there to all Acer users,

Recently interested on Acer Ultrabook, Acer Aspire S7

Anyone of you all using it? How is the feedback?

I like its design and specs, but still hesitating about Acer's laptop quality.

I think the only thing that bothers me is the heat and the performance issues that come AFTER that. Other than that, everything else is fine smile.gif

Haha, yeah. But then, back then when I use windows 7, the performance issues that happened after the heat was more obvious. Super lag in games But in windows 8, not so obvious. Still okay. smile.gif

I noticed that the laptop sometimes fail to detect that a game requires a level of graphics processing power more than what the HD4000 can handle, and does not set the game to run on the GT640M. If you're facing lag issues with your games, you can try setting the games manually to run on the GT640M via the nVidia control panel.

blink.gif I did actually think about this too, about the Nvidia card not kicking in when playing games. I totally forgot about the control panel.. I'll do that and post a report back here soon biggrin.gif

If you insist on a RAM compatible list, you can try asking it from Acer's support.

Any standard SODIMM Value RAM will do, but there's always the chance of incompatibility due to a manufacturing defect, or if the RAM module is "like that". laugh.gif

A picture of what you're experiencing would help.

Your friend may have negotiated for the extra RAM to be added for free. I don't think it's standard since Acer lists even the latest V3-571G with only 4GB of RAM by default. 2GB of RAM is very cheap anyway, and the V3-571G comes with only one 4GB stick.

It won't reflect in your dxdiag. But if you want to use Nvidia as default, go to the Nvidia control panel > Global settings> Preferred graphics Processor and select the Nvidia.

My is initially 4, but the shop free upgrade for me to 8 thumbup.gif

BY THE WAY, Today I notice got once screw come out from the back blink.gif
The top left screw below (right under the power button).

I never applied any pressure to it, and also never unscrew before, and no shock before la.
All I can think of is the laptop too hot (especially that part, the hottest) and the plastic expand then the screw drop off. shocking.gif

hmm.gif. I think Acer updated the information for the latest V3-571G model not long ago, since I recall seeing the standard memory amount as 4GB the last time I saw it for the i7-3630QM V3-571G.
