Of course man. I was also in the same boat as you. Been doing SL for 11 months and then switch to PHAT because I also wanted to have the aesthetic body but didn't want to left the powerlifting side entirely.

Anyway, an article by CT about training for different purposes.

nahh, 11 months to learn about form and getting strength progression is very nice to be honest

i did SS/SL for around 8 months too, i sambung lama because i know i can still progress a lot with SS/SL

went from 200lbs squats to 255lbs squats. For my bodyweight of 136lbs, 255lbs made me wet already Lol

now aiming for 2x bw squats and 2.8x deadlifts. but my lower back sakit so end up kena tunggu lama sikit doh.gif

after SL i did some 5/3/1 before i change to madcow.

Would say that i really love doing squat and deadlift progs.

Dunno about you but this site has proven helpful for me to overcome the skinny fat scourge.

http://anthonymychal.com/.

Since you're fasting you should take advantage of it to test out IF + carb cycling and see how it goes
*
Ahhh, talking about diet, i find myself in ddeeeep shiet

the only thing that i do right now is

a) have complex carbs
b) have enough proteins and fat

but still, i don't watch what i eat because

living with parents ( if you eat eggs, chicken a lot they will scold you etcetc. just want to jaga hati, end up makan ayam pun sometimes sorok sorok Lol)

Well, you can always talk to your parents about the eggs or anything that is 'against' their belief. But don't just talk, provide them with the science. As you know, the 'it is bad to eat lots of eggs' research are done by cereal (as in breakfast cereal) company to downgrade the eggs reps on a very little sedentary people about cholesterol; which entirely disregard about the good and the bad cholesterol. This is what Charles Poliquin said:

i've been providing lots of scientific proof

end up they will go "dengar cakap orang tua"

not to mention the "u lift weights u go pendek"

and not to mention after i get injured most of them discouraged me to lift

Hey guys, been gyming for 2 months and my left hand elbow (joint) will hurt sometimes and significantly but still bearable when i workout my triceps.  Should i take a month break or lift lightweights for a month ?

I'm afraid that if i take a month break, my muscles will start to shrink.

GP ?? If it's a specialist then that's a rather slipshod and lazy way to check  hmm.gif

Nerve issues would at list get you a trip to radiology so i'm not sure on your end.

On a side note being on this forum makes me even more impatient to hit the gym again. 3 more weeks of physio and it's back to the gym.

sakit apa pulak derr

i have physio trow Lol for my lower back

tbh Physio is useless, i can do all those exercise and stretches at home doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Dude, get checked up. Sciatica is a common symptom when something (ie slipped disc like my case) is irritating/pressing against the nerves around your spine. Nerve injuries are a b*tch and the longer you wait to get some form of treatment, the longer recovery takes.
*
I did some icing, ibuprofen, neurobion (?) and stretches.

trow got physiotherapy, i want that guy to x ray me lah terus

last time i tanya doktor mintak x ray semua cakap

"oohh x ray is for raptured disc je, tak payah"

fak, as im typing now i can feel some nerve pain on my shins

Been there done that. I'd say go to a chiropractor. Regular GPs or orthopaedic surgeons usually won't do anything except send you home with anti-inflammatory meds unless your bones are sticking out of your skin(slight exaggeration). I went to 4 different doctors (who didn't help one bit) before going to a chiro. If I had known better I would've gone to the chiro first.
*
what did the chriopractor guy did? massage? ubat?

i hope my Uni got one since they have a specialist there in my Uni

QUOTE(Decky @ Jul 31 2012, 09:28 PM)
Hi guys a question about the SL 5x5 routine.

According to the 3rd revision, there's workout A and workout B where it is alternated between sessions.

Workout A starts off with Squats, Deadlifts, OHP, Pull ups
Workout B starts off with Squats, Benchpress, Barbell rows/Inverted rows and Push ups.

For the sets of A, I'm quite okay with the form (after being corrected many times and comparing myself with the videos), and I usually get really exhausted after I finish everything. For pull ups, I'm supposed to do 3xF, but if I can only do 2 till failure, does it count?

For B, I have a problem with inverted rows and barbell rows. I have no idea how to perform barbell rows as it looks abit complicated, so I decided to try inverted rows on a smith machine, but I encountered 2 problems with this:

1. The smith machine is almost always occupied, and when it's occupied, people can use it for an hour with their friends.

2. When I do get to do them inverted rows, I have this problem that when I pull myself up to touch the bar with my chest (hardly getting there though), I feel a slight pressure on my neck, making it hard to breathe during the workout and concentrate. My neck is longer than the average Malaysian's neck though.

Do you think I should try to correct my form for IR or just try to learn how to do the Barbell rows? Or can I just substitute them both with deadlifts or something else?

Thanks!
*
Pull Ups

- you can only do 2 sets till failure atau apa? if not masa set 3 tu naik je and do your best.

Rows

- Do it with a barbbell, just curi the barbbell from your bench and do it. Always did it and people seems to be mad but i dont care

DO ROWS/PENDLAY ROWS, DON'T CHANGE THE ROUTINE. LEARN IT!

Alright, will try my best to learn one of them rows.
The 3rd revision also includes prone bridges and reverse crunches which I didn't try too.
Apparently Medhi (or the guy writing the SL paper) said that the inverted rows were introduced because alot of people couldn't do the barbell rows.
One tutorial of doing the IR's with a smith is this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZV9IwluPjw
But yeah, it's really awkward.
Here's a link to the pdf of the third revision if you're interested:
http://www.lundswingtsun.se/pdfwce/stronglifts5x5.pdf
2 reps then failure. Rest awhile, do lagi and fail again lol. Yeah I'm trying.. But it is rather embarrassing to not be able to do a few pull ups.
*
i was somehow like you years ago

what i did is

a) take a barbell and set a point on the power rack, go underneath and put your legs on the floor, pull yourself up. I think it was called bent over rows something. Searched google keluar bent over rows yang macam pendlays pulak

b) pakai yang supplementary aid pull ups yang boleh buat pull ups kita ringan ke tak tu, lupa nama benda tu Lol

c) Lat Pulldown <-- what my friend currently do, but he increased the weight every week from 2/5 his bw and then when you are reaching around 4/5, do real pull ups

Hi guys, today i was deadlifting 100kg at the local gym, normally i'll be at college gym, some big guy (seriously damn big) told me deadlifting too heavy is for professional, and i should do lighter weight.
I've been deadlifting quite some time, and 100kg wasnt my 1rep max. So after he saying i pun stopped because the people in the gym started staring at me. I deadlifted without a belt, core is tight.
I will be posting a video for you guys to check my form, meanwhile, any words for me?

i have some big guy who advice me about the same thing but when i saw his deadlifts, i Lold cos his deadlifts is far more dangerous than me.

Hey, it's called inverted pull up, try googling and see the pic/video see correct or not.
Another one will be negative pull up, which is have a partner or a chair to push yourself up, then when lowering without any assistance.

I'll do more research and post video. Since ppl i met told me deadlift is dangerous. So far i've seen mark rippletoe's way of deadlifting, any other trainer's video that are famous?

You got a point there. Pro title peeps also train during their newbie and amateur days what.
I just thank you after he talked to me, didnt ask anything much cos i can't hear his english, he's a foreigner, from african i think ( my place is flocked with foreigner )
Btw i think it is a pinch of salt, read it from somewhere, but it doesn't matter lah  tongue.gif
*
yeah yeah inverted pull ups. lupe tongue.gif

anyways Rippletits coach on deadlifts is good enough imho

for the time being just use the Rippletits method for deadlifts

as long you are progressing one day you will find what is suitable for you cause lots of
opinion and technique on deads

Managed to do this for bench press:

100kgx12
120kgx10

Needed a spotter but felt like I could still increase!
