Altis, gonna stick to coaxial as boot now needed for a lot of stuff like golfset and trolley. Do I need an amp for Coaxial speakers, is it recommended or not? I just want to blast music a bit when on highway. I have a 4 ch amp from my previous setup, but now don't feel like playing ICE anymore.

Hi all,

Need some suggestions as im also not sure what to do;

- Your ride : Proton Satria Neo R3
- Prefer : I think SQL is better for overall preferences
- File format/medium used in your source : Radio, mp3, MP4, music videos, etc. (normal format today)
- Genre of music you listen to : Preffered more to slower pace music, classical, jazz, pop, etc. however sometimes hear also big bass music
- Setup type preferences : Not sure about his one. (give reccomendations pls)
- Other requirements : No
- Remarks :
1. My thinking now is getting set of component speakers and subwoofer while retaining OEM HU (Blaupunkt NY900)
2. Budget around 3k-3.5k. 4k maximum if its really worth it to add few more bucks.

Questions :
1. What are the good/recommended component speakers and subwoofer? Really want to get good and decent quality one.
2.Based on my budget, should I get amp to support stock HU? or is it enough using stock HU for the time being while saving some more money and buy a good amp later on? (one of the shop I visited suggested this). Or is it enough just to get the 'local' amp?
3. Is it better to do sound insulation/proffing as well? Mostly on door area? Is it make a hugh difference? (I have pretty loud exhaust sound haha)

Thanks for the support!! Hope to hear any suggestions soon......

P/S : Im actually a music noobies so to be honest Im also not sure what I want. Just that want to hear a 'good' music in my ears while travelling. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hello all.
Just wanting to ask the senior ICE members here for a head unit recommendation. Currently having an Alpine 1-Din IDA-X200 with a Helix Cap which does basic job on what I need but I want something extra now, i.e. Android connectivity, Waze, Torque app, touch screen for songs. Bluetooth is optional.

Main priorities are towards the steering controls, touch screen and android connectivity.

- My ride: 2007 Mazda MX-5, already have a 2-din slot ready.
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: No clue on this
- File format/medium used for my source: Occasional radio, Frequent MP3 through USB, videos, maybe Spotify
- Music genre: Anything, not an issue.
- Budget: RM900 -RM 1500
- Setup type preferences: 2-Din, Touch Screen, Mirrorlink or Android Auto, decent music clarity without use of subwoofer, USB slots front preferred but not a dealbreaker, steering controls a must (currently with infra red sensor), rear cam support.

Ur budget seems fair bro... Perhaps You may want to invest in the head unit as well cause it will give a clearer signal to the amplifier.. but i think it can permits you to buy a single din i guess.. Double din will cost a bomb.. Unless you wanna do step by step by step which most malaysians do

My suggestions is that upgrade the head unit 1st.. then save up for the amp and woofers (hidden cost will be wiring and cables)

Checkout the 200mm size players.. most shops do have this size player.. normally Pioneer, kenwood and JVC comes up with this size.. just matter about the price tho

have you try to look at Pioneer double din? You should be able to find one that suits you as you have allocate 2k budget on your headunit.

- My ride: kembara
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQ
- File format/medium used for my source: SPOTIFY. AUX. MP3.
- Music genre: MAINSTREAM. ELECTRONIC
- Budget: 700RM

Already have good entry level tweeters. Have a good high end amp. Need to get new speakers, front and back. And a new 1din headunit.

Looking for advice on what speakers and HU to get... maybe a list of brands and models. And how much i should pay for each. So i can go to a shop and not be 'cutthroated'

May even point me in the right direction to research on HU. (Spec i get for a 200rm hu vs a 400rm hu?)

Edit: is it ever a good idea to just have 2speakers (ie just front or just back). My kembara rear speakers are facing directly opposite each other in the open trunk. Not sure if this may play a role on sound quality and if anything i should do about it.

Would love to give more info about power supply and amp specs but its all very foreign to me at the moment.

My front speakers are a lousy unknown brand component set speakers (speaker bass + tweeter + standalone crossover).

It sucks.

I've just bought a new coaxial speaker online. Is it possible for me to just disconnect the old speaker bass and just insert the new coaxial speakers and LEAVE the old tweeter and standalone crossover untouched?

That's what the accessories shop people recommended me. My question is - will it dilute the audio quality of my new coaxial speakers? or it won't affect anything at all and just channel the sound to the tweeters. If possible I would wanna leave them there as well to boost the sound quality.
