now seeing as its USD700, and gold ring...
i wonder if its made in china like the current 105mm micro.
and yea, i agree no need for it to be gold ring...will look out of place beside the 85mm 1.8G

Most probably made in china/thailand
but looking at lens like the 85mm 1.8G, don't think there's any problem with it if it's made in china
I rather it being cheap and made in china than paying rm500-1000 more just for three little small words saying it's made in japan, considering there's hardly any quality difference. If it's above rm3k and made in china, that's another story

Don't tell us later you miss your D700 than your D800

How much you're selling your D700?
I couldn't be sure, but is that the first f/1.8 Gold Ring lens? Probably the N coat will make it an interesting lens to own

couldn't see any reason why would I miss my D700 if i own the D800.
Don't understand what is wrong making a $700 lens nano coated and gold ring?!!
As a consumer that's a big welcome really.
And the gold ring means that it would be a stunning lens. The pricing of the 85 & 28 1.8G really is great from Nikon.
Hopefully they are trying to set a trend where the days of Nikon's lenses are always more expensive than Canon are gone.
Looking forward for more affordable gong ring + nano coated lens!!!
