actually the Toysrus Clearance Sales is due to low monthly sales,
so the distributor of Hasbro , Mattel, and other brands want to do these sales,
after a while, Lego distributor also heard about it and wanted to join as well to clear some of their old and not sell out stock..
so this is nationwide TRU sales, item will almost the same base on product availability.
for other product they have 70%,
but for lego, they only give 30%, if the sales stilll tak jalan only give 50% or really damage box...
like in penang, the exo-force sentai fortress, sky gurdian and the city airport 1st week give only 30%.... hardly anyone touch...
2nd week give 50% ... help friend buy 2, but myself already have so din buy... so will wait for the 3rd week or 4th week, as the sales will be ongoing till mid of may...

Well there was a time Lego was really did making loses, not sure when, but that is due to the fact that their sets were too Dulponize or to reliant on licensed trademarks like Star Wars etc. In the process they forgot to produce nice basic sets which appeal to more ppl.
That's why some of the newer city sets or even the latest power miners have some functions or gimmicks that are well designed. Like my power miner thunder driller contra-rotating drill. They could have easily opted for a cone shaped chromed piece like rock raiders, but decided to add some Technic gears to make it more playable. Not to mention it is a very good example of how a contra-drill works in a very good application (mining).
Then the new city crawler crane, bull dozer, dumpster, roller, all looks like the real thing. The farm sets with the new harvester, farm and the horse transporter all look great (with the jeep looking like a Range Rover).
So while the overpriced Star Wars sets do bring in some profits, their basic bread and butter sets like City are showing some innovation to attract more buyers. That is also why Pirates are returning, space police are returning.
lego loose money is when the electronic games / pc games time, which is around 1999~2002/3....
that time most of the kids and teenage are more into pc games or PS1,
so that time, the LEGO group nearly backup, so they close down a few of thier factory to avoid the losses, and sold thier theme park to other management to avoid big expenses.
after that to make their products more variety, and to boost their market, they sign their with star wars for their 1st licensed product.
the Star wars product is a very successful product line (which LEGO group extend their licensed agreement 3-4 times)and give LEGO group the opportunity to turn over..
after that they have sign agreement with ferrari, and others licenced product as well...
besides from joining with star wars, they are aware that they need to get a stand in electronic game as well,
so they come out LEGO games like chess, racers, education product and others.
which later they come out Star wars games, indiana jones games, and batman games.
the games not only design for pc use , bu as well as PS2, nitento, WII, and others...
after 2003 we can see the lego product are different of previous years,
to cut the cost, they have minimize the usage of bricks in the sets, so when we built our sets, we can see alot of "unseen holes" inside the truck, tractor, or house....
besides that they will not include the catalog in the set like last time, instead they will distribute to the dealer, while in the instuction book they will include some other sets to lure ur interest to collect the complete sets..
hope my "essay" on LEGO will help newbies to udnerstand more on LEGO...
ps: most of the information can get from lego.com if u have time to read all their reports ad analysis...

Wah, so much stock?
Those stock for M'sia only or for Singapore and M'sia combine? I'm surprised to see that the demand for Lego here is so much. No wonder we get a Legoland
For the catalog, I think can scan and upload, but for those released sets. Those unreleased one better dun show since it is like you leak the 2009 or even 2010 sets oledi. Dunno if it is legal to scan a dealer catalog though (all those leak images on the net are from dealer catalogs)
However if those catalogs can be obtained from retail anyway (like in TRU, Brickboy etc) and are meant for customers, then scan the whole thing.
As for opening a set to show us, well go ahead and open one!! You know you want to! Maybe for size comparison place it next to some other lego sets.
Was at Gardens today, Brickboy selling the Pirates set oledi, but they have not build any of the sets yet for display
P.S: try to know your account manager better

maybe can get discount for legos for us

Malaysia LEGO is imported and distribute by ALJ distributor, previously was Deitherm, and the one before that was Texchem, while the earlier 1 is Lit Tat,
Singapore LEGO is imported by various company, at least 2, but the biggest 1 is LEGO Sing (LEGO Singapore),
so is totally different
