Oh, nice one. No dirt bike comes with this set?

No dirt bike comes with this set. I think it comes with the Crystal Sweeper, the biggest set.

i feel that those themed sets have less replayability potential...
coz most of the parts are customized... can hardly build anything other than the original one.

I should be getting the 5 digit LEGO sets price list around next week (for the uninitiated, sets like Green Grocer, Cafe Corner...etc).

The items should land in Malaysia, maybe end of April 2009.

Would keep everyone posted.

I agree with you on that but those are the sets which sell the most, so we need ppl who buy those sets to keep LEGO in business otherwise we wont get to play with the next generation of TECHNICS & MINDSTORMS in the future blush.gif

Btw, most LEGO buyers are more collectors than MOCers.

Recent years LEGO company been making losses, and have to reduce some of their color "palette", and creating mould of "big parts" for their sets (like a huge wheel/truck bucket/drill) to stay afloat. Small parts is more expensive to produce . Some of their "walls" brick are no longer solid from all sides. For example the 5-brick tall x 6 brick long part actually has one side hollowed out.

Not too sure, they seem to be making profit recent years.

Checkout their annual report. http://www.lego.com/eng/info/default.asp?page=annualreport

Well there was a time Lego was really did making loses, not sure when, but that is due to the fact that their sets were too Dulponize or to reliant on licensed trademarks like Star Wars etc. In the process they forgot to produce nice basic sets which appeal to more ppl.

That's why some of the newer city sets or even the latest power miners have some functions or gimmicks that are well designed. Like my power miner thunder driller contra-rotating drill. They could have easily opted for a cone shaped chromed piece like rock raiders, but decided to add some Technic gears to make it more playable. Not to mention it is a very good example of how a contra-drill works in a very good application (mining).

Then the new city crawler crane, bull dozer, dumpster, roller, all looks like the real thing. The farm sets with the new harvester, farm and the horse transporter all look great (with the jeep looking like a Range Rover).

So while the overpriced Star Wars sets do bring in some profits, their basic bread and butter sets like City are showing some innovation to attract more buyers. That is also why Pirates are returning, space police are returning.

That's a piece of good news to get the 5-digit sets soon.

Actually the customized part do depends on us how creative we are to recreate a thing. So can't blame the customized parts though.

Hi, I have an extra Lego 8017 TIE Fighter to let go. I got too excited and bought so many of the 2009 sets recently, and now my better and saner half has convinced me that I do not need so many sets. tongue.gif

Normal retail at TRU is RM250, I can let go for RM200. Pls PM me if you're interested. See here for the post.

I thought the KLCC TRU Lego Sales is just for TRU members?

http://www.toysrus.com.my/inside/LegoStarMemberSale.htm

Anyone spotted Technics is having discount over TRU KLCC?
