QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Feb 4 2009, 10:12 PM) One thing I like about classic Lego is that you are building stuff out of ordinary pieces and not specialize pieces unlike now. Like the airplane; the front part is made out of several normal bricks. I so agree. Been in a pre mid life crisis of late so am looking to get back into old toys and hobbies i had as a kid - it was either gundams or lego. To my horror, Lego's seem to have both increased in price and became more 'kit' like. The Lego i remember were made up of very basic pieces, the single row thick block of varying lengths (1x, 2x 4x, 6x), the thin ones (1/3 the height of the thick blocks), standard wheel sets, men etc etc. All interchangeable. Nowadays i see specialised blocks more often than not and the remind me more of the old duplo and megablock.I still have some leftover creations i made as a kid... will try photograph these next time i'm back home. Most were road vehicles, sorta inspired by zoids and micro machines, definitely influenced by Mad Max This post has been edited by madmoz: Feb 5 2009, 01:31 PM |

I still single-lah I remember I wanted to buy that fire engine set last time, but I dared not ask my mum for it. Those days, we could do window shopping for LEGO in almost any supermarkets. Well somehow this 3 sets managed to be stored in some kotak in the storeroom and never mix up with all the other pieces, hence still like new. Last time I wanted the Lego Launch & Support Seaport with crane, container ship etc but that time it was too expensive Interesting to note that Lego has now tripled or more in price compared to last time. Added on February 8, 2009, 1:02 amI decided to construct my vintage airport set today. I would say almost complete, but need some parts from other sets to make do with. Some key components are missing so if it look out of place, then there is something missing The interior of the airport. Policeman manning X-ray machine next to center waiting area and counter area. Upstairs got a lounge with a table and 2 seats and the control tower (1 glass is missing, have to make do) ![]() Outside the passengers walk to the airplane. Some ppl looking at airplane behind the fence. Also the luggage is loaded onto the baggage cart. ![]() Time to board the airplane. The pilot greets the passengers while someone loads the luggage. Since there is no steps or ramp so need to climb into the cabin ![]() The layout inside the aircraft ![]() Once everything is ready, it's time to go!! The engine is at the bottom since I only have 1 jet engine! ![]() As the plane takes off, the luggage cart heads back to the airport. The take-off is also observed by a helicopter pilot who just arrived ![]() This post has been edited by paanjang16: Feb 8 2009, 01:02 AM |
