Was at the Texchem warehouse sales the other day.....aiyoooo.....it was like war....ppl grab and grab like no need to pay.

I managed to grab some train tracks, The Dream Liner, A Factory Set, A Ferrari model, A few Exoforce sets, Technics Rough Terrain.......all for only RM600 plus. Most of the stuffs were 50% discounted. Not too bad...

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie here, basically a Lego maniac and have been buying more than 30 sets in past 3 months. Have been following this interesting forum since then. So far I've been collecting anything Lego but my favourite is still Star Wars and huge Exo-Force robot.

Hehehe....I went to the Texchem sale as well last Friday (took my annual leave to attend it, reach there at 11:30am though it starts like 12:00pm) and like designer 69 said, it was crazy there. I managed to grab some Exo-Force and Knights Kingdom sets, realy cheap at 70% off in fact. Since the past few months of active shopping for Lego, I do have some guidelines for purchase as below:

1. For anything general and not a hot selling (such as Star Wars) items, wait for Texchem sale which I suspect will take place twice per year
2. For certain hot items but very costly and huge, just wait for any toy department or store sales i.e Isetan, Jusco or Toys R Us to clear their stock, you might be lucky to get more than 40% sale. I've got Star Destroyer 6211 from Isetan 2 months back for RM440 or so.
3. For exclusives or anything obsolete from the market then can visit Ultimate Toys or Brickboys. (if you don't mind paying premium or market rate)

I hope this buying guide will help, so that you could save RM1000 or so in 6 months time and grab the Lego in Texchem warehouse sale like mad....

aiks.. the lego sales came n left oredi issit..??
is so.. them y even bother to post it here.. demm...
anywayz.. was there any mindstorm nxt for sale there..??
i really wanna get 1 (online or thru retail).. but scared that not many ppl have it here.. thus the community to make such item better is lost.
like u can share thoughts on building a better bot n such.. n seek help if ur stuck.. I know online community got.. but local community is alwayz better imho.
*
Aiyah, johnnycp posted on 11/7/07 regarding the warehouse sale, I also got the news from his posting here. But there's no Mindstorm there. Well, if I'm not wrong the warehouse sale have everything besides Mindstorm, Star Wars, and the newer theme such as Castle and Mars Mission. Well, now that everyone knows it's going to have a warehouse sale probably 6 months down the road, at least it will prevent you from buying something that's not hot selling at retail or 10% off. Again, the warehouse sale is to clear old stocks that not sellable (more often expensive items), so don't bang on it to get something that you've been drooling for.

Oik, you've got Viking Heavy Catapult? I didn't see any when I was there. Not sure what time you went but when I was there at 11:30a.m on the 1st day, I saw many people who probably have connection inside Texchem actually walked out with all the nice sets. Sigh, I guess this is the society we're in, preference given to well-connected people. So when I went in, just grab anything I could see, but honestly buying Exo-Force's Bridge Walker and Striking Venom at RM100 and RM120 respectively is really a good price.
No worries guys, just wait for another round and buy anything and everything in sight, should not be more than RM1000.

Hmm...Not really war if you go on time or earlier (at 12:00pm), the crowd only build up at 12:30pm as it is lunch hour for offices, so you really see many working adults rushing in like mad people. Actually the packaging is not damaged or anything, just as good as those in retails outlet. The reason they have the sale is because the items are too expensive or not popular (but by saying this I'm not saying that it's the ugly ones, just not so popular) and after some time of keeping it, they have no more place to keep in the warehouse due to the fact new stocks keep on coming in. So they have no choice but to sell off those that has been in the warehouse like more than 6-12 months or so.

There are basically many products there besides the new ones like Castle and Mars Mission and of course Mindstorm. So it's really good bargain for us as I saw some of the Technics that cost RM500 or more in the market is selling for RM200 or so. It is just advisable that you grab the big sets looking at the price difference and the savings you are enjoying. I bought more than RM900 products for only RM300, isn't that great? I could have bought more but have been spending like RM3000 for the past 2 months on Lego doh.gif

And for all Star Wars junkie, Brickboy will be bringing the X-Wing next week for RM349.90.

great idea for meetups!  I wanna suggest "brick swapping" sessions.

I've some new unused green and brown bricks which might be useful for castle collectors out there to build your scenery and hills. I've no use for them since I primarily built LEGO mecha. In return I wish u guys out there would hook me up wiv some juicy wing plates/bricks and some hinges.
*
Hehe....Anyone interested in minifigs swapping as well? Or swap between bricks, minifigs, horses and etc? Actually the Castle theme this time around is pretty cheap (compared to Star Wars) but sometimes the unnecessary things (to me at least) come along like dragon and so forth. I'd prefer to have more horses and minifigs instead of the dragon. Sigh, I bought a couple of duplicate set such as Final Joust because this set has the best horses and minifigs of all the Castle theme. This in return causes me to have all the bricks and weapons which I'm storing it in a bucket.
Btw, anyone have any idea if the Spongebob's set is coming to Malaysia? The last time on the web it's written that the Spongebob is only available in U.S and Canada but now they have removed the caveat, so I wonder is it going to be available worldwide including Malaysia?

about the new 2 sets os spongebob which available in US i wont think it will available in MYS so soon... or even that it maynot coming..
unless guys who wanted it ask brickboy to order.....

Oic, hmm.....In this case I really need to check out at Brickboy soon. I'm really keen to collect minifigures as my room is exploding with bigger sets, no more place to keep it. At least minifigures I could keep it in my display cabinet, dust free as well.

Guys, let me know if anyone of you is interested in Vulture Droid (it comes from the set of Star Wars Jedi Starfighter) as I'm willing to exchange it with minifigs.

Now my aim is keep as much space as possible to get the huge Castle lar, too many Star Wars....Have been holding on my urge to get the huge castle but no space rclxub.gif

Bro, please give me some time as I'm sorting out the stuffs, just bought a toolbox to store all the different things neatly. Hehe, scared to lose the slightest things, grown up have to be more careful lar....I'll identify things that I'm sure I won't be using for the rest of my life first, then I'll snap a photo and attach it. Do you have any minifigs which you don't want and available for exchange? I'm even thinking to get rid of some other stuffs (which I'll attach as well once I have identified). No worries, all in good condition as I keep most things in the display cabinet, those that requires stickers I did not stick. So stickers are in the box as well, brand new.

Man, I really got into the Lego poison lar, couldn't stop buying it especially the Castle theme. Collecting all the knights minifigs, 'cun' like crazy thumbup.gif Do you have those Lego poison too? My colleagues and friends think I'm really mad.

Wow, cool toys you have johnny........And I do believe you are a great fan of Lego just like me thumbup.gif I started collecting Vikings and Castle theme as well lately. But like I've said earlier, I'm holding on to my urges on big sets because of space constraints in my room so what I do lately is to buy smaller sets to get enough of minifigs and start a war while building towers own my own rclxms.gif I keep all these precious minifigs in a display cabinet, will snap a photo soon to share. This month itself I bought Army of Vikings with Heavy Catapult, 5 sets of Crossbow Attack, 4 sets of Final Joust and Knight's Kingdom King Siege Tower on top of buying some other Star Wars set. Oh yeah, bought some minifigs from Brickboy as well, got the Werewolf minifig. Hmm...for the next couple of months I'll just be concentrating on Vikings, Knights Kingdom and Castle theme. Plan to have another 20 horses and 30 minifigs perhaps hmm.gif

Hahaha....Need to buy wall mounted shelf for my Lego lar...

If consistently spend RM2000 a month also I can faint lar rclxub.gif Better wait for Texchem sale and grab everything you can thumbup.gif

Hehe, looks cool to me mate. I also wanted to customize more things but time is a constraint since I'm working vmad.gif I guess the only time available is weekend. This whole weekend I spent on re-arranging and dusting my Lego while buying more small Castle set as I realized there is gap in the shelf, so just stuff it with minifigures. Hehe, now I have 119 minifigures rclxms.gif But I guess I need more horses, soldiers and Star Wars Stormtroopers to build a huge empire, enough to build a community in my shelf. Just got a small Bionicle today for fun but putting it together isn't as fun as Castle and Vikings set lar. But I also need to buy the 500 brickset soon as I can't just keep on building tower without huge number of bricks hmm.gif
Well, will snap more photo soon and attach it (if the attachment works) for you guys to view. Last Friday when I visited Brickboy I saw some classic Castle and Red Indian set as well but the small little set cost more than RM100, will only get it when I have loads of extra $ and nothing to buy (which is not possible huh?).
Guys, please show me more photos lar and keep this thread alive while I'm figuring out why my attachment can't work vmad.gif Hmm, what happened to all the hardcore fan of Lego lar?

Thanks mate, I'll try your suggestion to attach pictures and by the way what is ABS? You don't mean Anti-lock Braking System right? tongue.gif Saw your castle collection and I'm impressed notworthy.gif But I guess dusting it is a big problem if don't keep it in an enclosed display shelf because it has holes here and there.. This is what I'm trying to avoid because now I'm dusting every weekend on my current collection and it's already tiring. Somehow can't hold on to my urge to get the new huge castle because it's so cool and it's my childhood dream to build huge castle with towers, horses, knights complete with crossbows and catapults blush.gif

Oh, I know which set you are talking about, the huge set with a big box right? Hey, I saw it during the Texchem warehouse sale which is going for less than RM150 or so but I didn't grab it because I'm not a fan of Bionicle. So far I have 2 Bionicle sets just for decoration. Why not wait for Texchem sale (which I anticipate in December) to buy huge set like this? I doubt they managed to sell off everything of this set during the warehouse sale, so is Boeing Dreamliner but if you don't want to take the risk of not getting it at all then grab it in Jusco. Like what I shared earlier in this thread, the Texchem warehouse sale is to clear big and not fast selling items but don't bang on it to get what you really like. Hehe, so don't blame me if you can't get what you want during the warehouse sale tongue.gif
Sometimes Toys R Us or Isetan also have clearance sale for huge and older set. My patience saves me RM350 when I bought my Star Destroyer 6211 at Isetan few months back rclxms.gif
Hmm.....my itchy hands tell me to buy more minifigs today at Brickboy after work drool.gif

Hmm....this is the modified version of Star Wars AT-AT, looks cool. I wanted 1 too but now it's obsolete, unless I'm willing to pay premium price for it. I'm collecting the minifigs of Clone Troopers now by buying the battle pack. Hehe...I have 127 minifigs now, majority castle and Star Wars characters. Hope to hit 250 minifigs by year end while buying some other sets. The pricing here in Malaysia is really funny. A Castle set that cost USD19.99 will cost approx. RM120 but Star Wars set that cost USD19.99 will be priced approx. RM150 in Malaysia (USD price is based on Lego Shop online). Terrible man those jokers selling it knowing it's hot items they just mark it up unnecessarily.

Yeah, actually wanted to see more minifigs set. Hmm...wonder what Lego is thinking, they made so many mould for minifigs, they can just sell it like how they sell the Clone Troopers and Droid Battle pack to get economy of scale. RM69.90 for 4-7 minifigs with vehicles. Don't they realize people will be keen to build an army of minifigs as well? Hehe........myself collecting minifigs now because it's cute, just got myself more than 15 sets of minifigs collection for the past 2 weeks. The coolest I'm collecting now is Clone Troopers on top of Castle theme, now I have 19 of them (Clone Troopers) though plan to collect like 50 of it to guard my Darth Vader minifig. But really want to see other rare minifigs like Chewbacca, Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks then it will be really nice (they are so, so cute). Besides it's cheap to buy this small pack, you'll need less than RM250 per month and within a year, WOW!!

KL people have a look loh!~

Hehe....good, good. Perhaps should call them to check out if other Toys R Us also have same clearance or just Avenue K as the Lego in Avenue K is of limited choice, probably less than 30% of what Toys R Us in Subang Parade or 1 Utama. Will update you guys once I've called them.

Just called Toys R Us and the guy told me all Toys R Us stores are having this clearance sale as well but Avenue K's store will have bigger range (which I think he's not referring to Lego specifically lar). Anyhow just check it out lar because you might find different things in different stores.

Sigh, went to TRU in Avenue K and 1 Utama but truly disappointed because Lego has only 10% sale which I could get it anytime in other departmental stores. The only 20% sale is the Bionicle huge set. Sacrificed my gym session for it but turned up to be a disappointing sale mad.gif

Sigh, just wait for Texchem sale while now buy more minifigs and Star Wars Lego from Brickboy sounds like a better plan for me blush.gif

Well at least now we got scout reports so i dun need to waste anymore time. Thanks superman wink.gif

Welcome dude, I 'kena' once as well in Avenue K and now I know they close at 8pm due to poor business. 1 U and Subang Parade TRU really close at 10pm but you could really understand why Avenue K's branch closes that early. The range of Lego they carry is really crappy, worse than Parkson and Jusco when it comes to variety, majority City and Bionicle sets only. I wonder why TRU is still operating there.
Hehe...but I compensated my unhappiness of the TRU sale with an old Knights Kingdom set in Jusco Bukit Raja this evening at 10% off (heck TRU, I can get 10% too in other places, so please don't call yours clearance sale!)
Guys, any old (prior 2003) Star Wars set that you guys have sighted in any departmental stores (exclude Brickboy) lately? I want those lar, but not really willing to buy from Brickboy because they mark up like more than 100%.

Golden Guardian is a model of Lego Exo-Force as below link

http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=7714&cn=34&d=70

Though it is stated as Hard to Find in the Lego website but there are plenty in TRU 1U and other TRU as well. I guess it will be an overstock product and they might clear it in Texchem sale nod.gif

I've realized the Lego website is quite funny as some of the overstock product is written as Hard to Find or Exclusive but plenty in the shelf, probably just gimmicks to clear stocks. You can even see new product as Hard to Find, how can that be? Perhaps they mean hard to find because not in market yet? laugh.gif
