QUOTE(blurr00 @ May 20 2012, 06:57 PM) hey guys i got a question to ask. is it okay to get a giant yukon fx and start go DH ? not goin for anything agressive for someone who is new to this LOL... There's nothing that is not aggresive in DH bro. Have a trail walk in Kiara DH trails or PCP black trails. You're like bringing a fork to a gun fight Unless you're talking about descending rather than pure DH, then lain cerita lah. |

QUOTE(timothyy @ May 21 2012, 10:16 AM) The latest development... They put like 1 lorry of coarse sand at the rocky climb from bike wash to Office loop. If I see these people I will throw rock at them. Stupid people. This is like chinese saying "Tak boleh berak, blame tanah keras (or blame anjing tengok)." Tak tau naik beskal, blame the trail. |

I was under the impression that duty and tax is based on invoice value, as it will also mention the freight charges if any, including INCOTERMS involved.
HS Codes would be better to determine the item falls under which tax bracket, but again it's subject to local customs interpretation. HS Codes is just a generalization of which the product falls under and it's pretty vague in itself. Anyway, just in case anyone needs it, IATA freight charges from London to KL is RM60.00/min and RM8.80/kgs, whichever is higher. |

Go FRIM and ride fast fast and scare the shit out of hikers and little kids. If you paid the entrance fee, you're entitled to enjoy yourself there.

QUOTE(majorsinbad @ May 24 2012, 11:09 AM) Yeah....its 2 distinctively different tyres ....which is why I asked....Minion can not la ...later I wanna climb pengsan ... Sinbad, mind I ask what hub you're using?Wallauwei .... I calculated total cost to convert my rear to a 142x12 axel.... Comes to about RM600..without shipping some more ... Hub Converter Axel = RM225 Frame component = RM150 Shimano 142 skewer = RM207 With shipping easily RM600 ++ QUOTE(anthony_nch82 @ May 24 2012, 11:31 AM) Actually 142x12 doesn't really helps. IMO LAH~ Personally I don't find much difference in drag on different front tires, but when it's on the rear... OMG, climb like mofo! I ran a DHF at the back for a very short period of time. The DHF is stashed somewhere in the storeroom now. LOLIF.. 1) We aren't do FAST cornering, and 2) We aren't do big drop/jump. (It is stiffer) Though it is easier for dismatling the wheel. Unless you have more $$ to spend. That's entirely different story. Added on May 24, 2012, 11:35 amI'm using Max Minion. (Comes with bike) The drag is immediately spot on. But quite good in hitting gnarly section and decending. But climbing wise.. It's out! I phobia for frontend washout. So the extra grip upfront is for peace of mind, IMHO. I think the idea of 142 or 150 rear hub is so that it's has lesser dish or dishless wheels. Theoritically a dishless wheel will be stronger. Try a bolt on skewer, it will stiffen it up abit if one finds using QR is abit squirmy. |

QUOTE(anthony_nch82 @ May 24 2012, 12:20 PM) IINM, the DT swiss one is different. The diameter of the bolt on is 9mm? A normal QR hub skewer is around 5mm I think? Here's some I was refering to: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p51...skewer&_sacat=0 It's meant as a direct replacement for QR skewer. QUOTE(majorsinbad @ May 24 2012, 01:08 PM) Im using CK... Wow... Ck with it's 72pt engagement angry bee sound must have been sweet! The reason I want to change to a 142 st up is because: 1. Looks more secure 2. Since my rear swing arm is carbon ...I think 142 is better compared to a QR...QR tends to affect the surface of the contact points 3. Hopefully it ll make it stiffer .... 4. It looks neater (looks...last but not least hahah) Currently Im using noby Nics front tyre ....its works really well at Kiara ...but with my tubeless set up ...its advisable to change to a new tyre ...so I itchy itchy wanna try new tyre .... Not a must ...but its a consideration .. Did some quick searches and found the below... Seems like it's the same dish with 135. _________________________________________________________________________________________ The goal of a 12 x 142 mm axle standard is to make thru-axles as quick and easy to use as a quick release system Stiffness of a 12 mm thru-axle, but with a quick release's wheel self centering feature 12 mm is the axle diameter, 142 mm refers to overall shoulder to shoulder width of hub (end cap to end cap) Cassette and disc rotor are in the exact same relation to the hub's centerline as a standard 135 mm QR hub Wheel dish remains the same as a 135 mm quick release wheel Frame dropout's have 3.5 mm of inset per side that hub endcaps fit into - just as with a 10 x 135 mm QR wheel There is not enough room on the driveside of a 12 x 135 mm thru-axle hub to build in the same hub locating ability, the extra 7 mm of overall width was required for the system to work Whereas 150 mm rear hub spacing requires the use of an 83 mm bottom bracket shell for proper chainline, 12 x 142 mm produces the same chainline as a standard QR rear wheel and works perfectly with any variation of B.B. that you'll find on modern XC or AM bikes Most hub manufacturers will simply make slightly different hub end caps to work with the new 12 x 142 mm spacing - no need to panic about having to buy a new rear hub or wheel The goal of the 12 x 142 is not to make a stiffer rear end, although it will be inherently stiffer than the equally convenient 135 quick release system that we're all used to, but to combine the best of both a quick release and a thru-axle design. Yes, we can all manage to install a thru-axle rear wheel on our current bikes without much hassle, but after playing with the new 12 x 142 layout I can honestly admit that it was even more effortless to use. The system's auto wheel centering feature meant that I didn't have to flip the bike over or struggle to line up the hub opening with the axle before pushing it through - just drop the wheel in and slid the axle home. I'm not saying that I'm all for it, but I think it's important to remember that a bike is the sum of it's parts and that if bikes never evolved, even if only in small steps that we're seeing now, we'd still all be using threaded loose ball headsets and cup and cone bottom brackets on our bikes. When it comes down to it, no one needs the new 12 x 142 axle size, but there are benefits to it that are worth looking at. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/12x142-explained.html |
