Superlight is easy on the wallet in terms of maintainence lo. One bigass bolt, a pair of bigass bearing. Same goes for Heckler.
Note that it's the best 'single pivot' XC bike. Who else makes single pivot nowadays? LOL VPP, DW-Link, Maestro and those fancy linkages are the shizzle for reduced bob when coupled with a platform shocks. |

Seriously, if you're getting that Polygon IMHO it's best to ride it as it is. Most of the stuffs on there is heavy as fook. No point to topup money just to get Deores. Save up for some serious monies and go for really light stuffs.
If the frame is more than 1.3kg, IMHO it's not worthy to buy it in the 1st place. A proper aluminium 'race geometry' XTC is at 1.4~1.5kgs. A friend that rides his XTC everywhere except doing jumps and it's holding up fine. He does drops though. |

Err... Cycling hasn't gone mainstream enough to justify the exorbit rentals of a shopping mall?
Not sure bout roadies but for MTB atleast, it involves mud. Sometimes lots of it. The shopping mall management will have a hard time justifying to their other tenants on why the floors muddy and smelly. |

QUOTE(moc @ May 11 2012, 03:18 PM) not necessary service the bike inside the shop lot....shop lot meant for showroom n barking bay for servicing and fixing. That'll be like a boutique shop? but rental in kl/sgor mall is xtrmely high. If selling low end bikes to attract the general consumers? That'll need very high sales volume just to cover the cost. If selling high end bikes, a shopping mall would be the wrong target market? |

It's been a while since I went Kiara. Seriously, 2K has lost it's uniqueness now with the flatten roots. Those minature drops are fun though. Saw Rad there today.

QUOTE(waikeatyeo @ May 14 2012, 01:07 PM) thanks everyone for your kind reply.. just dont get it why is branded better than under 2k.. to what i understand is the difference is just the frame no? components can be the same or similar right? help me understand whats the difference between them branded and under 2000 bikes... 2012 Alivio's are yesteryear's Deore. Don't bother with low end square tapered cranks. Minimum go Hollowtech for Shimano. Unless you're going retro highend, then get a Titanium square tapered BB with oldskool XTR crank. The old Alivio just sucks. The RD's spring tension or lack thereof, makes for a noisy ride and prone to drop chains. Why 2k bike just need to choose color and size? Simple, a complete groupset of Deore's with brakes oledi cost almost 2k IINM. So if you're a manufacturer, how do you make a complete bike and still make money at 2k pricepoint? Cheap out everywhere lo... IMHO for below 2k, best to go 2ndhand. Atleast you'll get some decent parts in the deal. Agree that all being equal, the louder the hub, the more resistance it will have, but not when pedalling but while coasting. When pedalling the pawls are engaged so all it matters is the bearing inside the hub. For coasting, the pawls are clicking inside the hub, and what makes it louder is a harder return spring or a deeper grove in the freewheel.
One can have a somewhat loud hub and free spinning wheels by using thinner lubes in the hub assembly instead of grease, but maintainence will be higher and more frequent. |
