Hi all,

I've just passed my p3 exam. I'm planning to take part time for P2 (resit). I was previously attended P2 Menon class at Sunway and due to distance travelling (from KL) and heavy tuition hours (12 hrs etc). I would like to obtain more suggestions and advice from you people which lecturer and college is recommended? Preferably with people who pass those who are not is welcome to comment too (maybe you heard from your friends? :-) )

On top of that, I would like to know the scope and way of lecturer teaching style whenever possible. Thanks.

Try advanced learning center's workshop that targets students who repeat
http://alc.my/ListProduct.asp?subject=HOME
ALC is just 10 minutes walk away from asia jaya lrt station

or you can try kasturi's joe fang's class
kasturi is in KL

hey guys, got something to ask, I want to fax my details and payment to acca uk, do I just go ahead and fax it or should I call them first?
*
Write your reference number on the documents then fax
Wait for a day and call to follow up for fast response
Or email them but will usually takes 3 days to respond

im taking paper based...any diff for paper or cbe?

Sorry I took CBE, so I never bothered to look at the past year questions for F1 to F3 before.
For me I think CBE is easier cause the questions are very short and they never ask deep.

Just keep doing your past year questions to get familiar with the way the examiners test the knowledge.
I think exam kit consists all the past year questions and A FEW new questions they wrote on their own.
Basically, I never had the time to do the study kit.

Sorry,I'm new to acca but where do you get past year questions for F1-F3??
*
Aiks sorry doh.gif I thought F1 to F3 paper based exams will have past year questions posted on the accaglobal website but I just checked there's only pilot paper. You can find the examiner report on each sitting though (it's quite important to read that to prevent any common mistakes that students make in the exams)

In that case, your option will be to buy the kit and do as many questions as you can.
If you're free, get can GTG exam kit as well. It goes chapter by chapter.
BPP I'd think the questions mostly target the whole picture of the situation.
But no worries, F1 to F3 very easy rclxms.gif

Just got feedback from student in uk £630 for full course in P7 in BPP. Only 3 days class and 2 days revision. 7 hours each.  shocking.gif  shocking.gif

He said Britain is a rip off case for ACCA. But based on that feedback, it seems logical that ACCA moves to exam every 3 months.  Suppose that if you fail a paper you will pay 4 times in a year vs. 2 times in a year. Assuming that you cannot pass the paper.

Those that studied in uk, share your class experience. As far as I know, all of them start classes after results. Common approach is 10 - 6 hour class and 3 - 6 hour class for revision.

Fee ranges from £300 - 600.

Is it a renowned university or something?
I think westerners never buy the whole 'extensive notes and long hours of classes' thing.
To them, the thinner the notes, the less time required to cover the whole syllabus, the better.
This is said by my british lecturer, Mr Michael

Never mind, still very easy rclxms.gif
Paper based exams can prepare you for all the following papers; they're all paper based
That way you won't get shocked when you sail on to F4 nod.gif
You'll be used to having to write a damn lot already then

Hi, is it anyone attend before Low chin ann for f8?
And Sheila from elitejaya? How is the way they teaching ? Mind to share?
Is kolej Bandar's environment good?
*
Attending Sheila's P7 class at elitejaya. She's a very friendly lecturer, never spends a second bullshitting or boasting. She tends to emphasize on the exam technique since most students are found to be weak at writing. She'll discuss questions with you at the end of topics. Forces you to think, sometimes pressurizes you to do it. She will expect you to do your homework.

QUOTE(frodo baggin @ Feb 27 2013, 10:04 PM)
Remember that acca will move to 4 sittings, f1 to f9 will be MCQ. That means more to study and cannot spot, I suppose that it is a way to ensure people don't pass by just spotting.

What do you think? People pass because of spotting, true or false.
*
MCQ will be easier because malaysians do not have good writing skills. I for one will feel relieved. Too bad, no chance to try it.
Some people spot, some don't. I did some spotting for P2 Current Issues question. Didn't hit it so I went on to choose another option.

Hello !! Anyone tried Mr Chan Tze Kang P5 class? How's it? Any feedback?
*
Just attended one class, too soon to tell.
The way he talks bugs me a little bit. Seems to be trying too hard to sound professional.
But I love his perspective on tackling the paper. Knowledge comes from understanding the very basic. His notes even include the technical articles. So far so good!

Guys,
Is it possible to study f7 own your own. I know you must be very good in f7 in order to pass p2 but i just want to know. Is it humanly possible to study own your own? haha. Thanks
*
Possible..
I passed F7 by self study. I didn't know any exam techniques, I just followed the examiner's answers.
I just passed P2 last sitting. I attended half of the classes, skipped IRC.
Let's just say I got over 60 for both papers.

Guys, I'm selling my GTG P1 to P3 textbooks. If you're interested, click the link in my signature for more information. I'm moving back to Sarawak in a few months' time, the books are too heavy to carry.

Anyone i need help to solve this.if there is journal voucher state amount due to director double entry for employee salary.so double entry is dt salary ct amount due to director rite(this is for last year financial year end account).as for this year director can claim the amount of employee salary? so what will the double entry be ct bank dt?and do i need to present the journal voucher again???many thx
*
The correct journal entries will be Cr Bank (cash at bank is reduced) and Dr Amount due to Director (amount owed to Director is also reduced since you paid him with the cash at bank)

The amount due to director is a current liabiity. It is just another form of loan or borrowing. When you borrow more, you credit; when you repay, you debit.

I'm sitting for P7 and P5 this sem.
Am okay with P7, am just worried that I might not write enough to score the points.
Am very nervous about P5.. This is the first time ever in my ACCA course I have no idea how to tackle a paper!

F8- dead. Not really sure what procedure to give
P2- dead. Can't finish the syllabus. The syllabus is so big!!
*
For the audit procedures, you should understand the recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure for each item so that you can come up with specific procedures on each area.

I didn't finish the P2 syllabus as well. Totally ignored the Current Issue topic but managed to score 66 for P2 last semester (last sitting's current issue question was easy, bummer) I think I did it by scoring well in the console question.

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jun 1 2013, 07:13 PM)
Good luck man..Think you need it. Both also difficult especially P2.

Focus on current issue. Usually Q4 is (free) easy marks.
Don't worry about P5. It's not as difficult as most people make it out to be. Just do your best!
Why die? Relax man. F5 and F9 shouldn't be a problem. Mostly calculations based which should be relatively easy to pass.

How much have you prepared for those 3 papers?
*
Thanks! Hope I can pass both and be done with ACCA already.

QUOTE(junggle @ Jun 1 2013, 07:57 PM)
So you didn't do the current issue? I'm like more than 50% incomplete for P2.
Thanks. But I'm desperate already.
*
I skipped class and didn't know what to study for Current Issue. Yes, Current Issue is easy to score marks.

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jun 1 2013, 09:12 PM)
Don't ignore current issue. It will help you get your pass in P2.
*
Yea, i agree!
