Hi all. i just bought a 2nd hand samsung galaxy W from my fren last week. Tis is my 1st time using smartphone. I have read the post on the first page but still confuse with something. Here I got a numbered of question to ask u all. I am still new to this hope u all can give me some guide here.
Questions:
1) I want to use my own account. But this phone still have the old account. How can I delete it? Is it must use the factory data reset? Will I lose all the app? Can't I just sign out from it?
2) When I go to settings>storage. I got 3 storage display.I read the 3 layers memory. I understand the sd card. But I am still confuse wif usb storage and device memory. I know both are built in. Is it the
internal memory mention in the 3 layers memory =
device memory &
internal sd =
usb storage ?
3) I have tested, when I download app it will automatically go to device memory. And I checked under task manager> storage. My currently system storage =350mb/1.07gb and usb storage= 424mb/1.7gb. So does this mean I only have 1.07gb of space for me to store the apps that I will be downloading?
4) Under settings>applications>manage applications>On Sd card. I don't understand this part the apps already under the tab SD card but why when I access the apps it still have this option for me to move to SD card?
5)The messages tat I received is store in which storage?
6) Why are there so many same person appearing in my contact list? What I mean is for example there are 7 Adam which is the same number in the list. Some have the google icon besie it some dun have.
Sry for the long questions. I would appreciate any1 of u tat willing to guide and teach me. Thanks
1) Impossible to log out. It's designed so for safety purpose.
2) In total W has 4GB built in. User accessible is 1.7GB then 1.07GB device memory and some others not sure where they are

I think is allocated to ROM. Basically device memory holds your installed apps file (main file/folders). If the app requires external data/user data, normally saved in usb storage. Some games requiring game data then is normally downloaded to USB Storage. You can choose to move your apps to SD card which brings the main installed files/folders to SD card. Game data, depending on the game programming, may stay in your USB Storage despite that you've moved the main application to SD card. For large game data, you can do memory swap or patch the game apk to set the location of game data in external sd.
I think this answered also your no. 3. Yes, you only have 1.07GB to store apps you're downloading. Else, move them to SD card. This doesn't apply to game data. Game data sometimes just stuck in USB Storage. Your idea of 3 layer memory is right. Some phones have only 2 layer which basically is the device memory and SD card. All data in SD card. All apps in device memory.
4) If it's ticked (the box beside the name), then it's in SD card. If it's not ticked then it's in Device Memory.
5) Not sure about this. I think is in device memory or usb storage. Removing SD card you'll still see them. Use sms backup and restore to backup sms.
6) You have the same contact in your SIM Card? If you have a copy of ALL your contacts in your sim card, you can choose to delete all contacts.
BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL YOUR CONTACTS BACKUP OR IN YOUR SIM CARD. After that do the sync again. You can also dig into settings and check something about show contacts with phone numbers only. If you've synced other accounts like twitter and facebook, these contacts will probably also appear in your 'Contacts'. With G icon means it's on your Google account.
