The new update is a bit more faster that's all and the color banding is still there...I am beginning to think that the banding is due to hardware sad.gif

hello fellows.. i want to ask. if there any nessary for me to have CWM installed if i just need the root because i want to use TB, SetCPU, so on... I dont do any firmware backup nor custom firmware.

BTW, can we apply the same thing as Uncle Benny tutorial?
1. Downgrade to 2.3.5 rootable
2. Root the 2.3.5
3. After have root, upgrade to newer v2.3.6 using ODIN or OTA.
4. And remain the root capability.

Basicly will this working?
*
No need CWM if you just want root.. anyway, once you root you should install the CF kernel (which is basically stock kernel), that give you CWM and you can use it to do nandroid backup...

Once you root, cannot update thru OTA, you will lose the root.

Use mobile odin with CF kernel, the root will remain.

PC ODIN not so sure, I think you will lose root too.

will all data/contacts and apps be gone after updating to the latest firmware?? just in case i need to back up..thanks!!!
btw, the latest firmware before this is DXLA or DXLB? thanks!
*
DXLA is the latest before DXLC

QUOTE(rebooto @ Mar 28 2012, 12:21 PM)
better be save than sorry but according to dr.ketan from xda he said that anything update via kies will not wipe you phone's data...still its better to backup
*
DXLC will clean wipe your phone. Same with other LC firmware like XXLC. Better backup all your apps and data.

oic. i understand now that to remain root when updating to newest firmware, we need to use mobile odin + CF Kernel that support the latest firmware. Thanks for that explaination. Seem like i cant avoid to downgrade my firmware now.. so sad.

did anyone have try that if update via ota the root will remain?  hmm.gif since the cf-root still dint have the LC2 kernel.

for now seems like the only way to maintain root is to use the mobile odin pro with the ever root option from google play.
*
You can always use other region kernel such as
XX_OXA_LC1-v5.3-CWM

When you want to flash full stock firmwares, use Odin or MobileOdin Pro where you can keep your root and Superuser.

If, the LA1 not rootable, for sure i will downgrade my firmware to any rootable, v2.3.5. Eg: KK1. If i already downgrade to KK1 and root. Can i choose the "CF-Root-SGN_XX_OXA_LA1-v5.0-CWM5.rar" from the attachment above or "CF-Root-SGN_ZS_MUL_KK1-v5.0-CWM5.rar" ? I get confuse in this thread mention that root and CWM. but, what actually consists in the "CF-Root-SGN_ZS_MUL_*"?

If you flash official firmware wont get yellow triangle.
When you flash custom roms or custom kernel then you get yellow triangle. Better use MobileOdin if your phone rooted already
