i always thought Apek is good enough to play outside Malaysia. sure there are aspects of his game that need to be improved on, but i have no doubt that he can make that step up to play in the better foreign league

i dont think our players is lack of talents,it's their mentality on becoming a professional player that are missing.
its all in the mind, and playing in the local league also doesnt help that much on their professionalism and dedication to becoming a better player.

time to get excited (as always). 2 of our olympic players might go for trials in Japan 3rd div club

but this time, it's another way around. instead of us recommending players to them, this time the scout for the players and ask the availability of the players.

KUALA LUMPUR: National player Wan Zaharulnizam Zakaria could ink his name in the history books by featuring for Okinawa-based club FC Ryukyu.

Wan Zaharulnizam, or better known as Kecik, caught the attention of talent agency Japan Dream FA during the Olympic qualifying match between Japan and Malaysia at the Tosu Stadium in Japan last year.

The Tumpat-born lad will be joined by Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor during trials with the J-League team. The dates for the trial has yet to be fixed.

Japan’s football structure places the J-League as the highest division followed by the J-League Division 2 and the Japan Football League.

This was confirmed by Harimua Muda A coach Ong Kim Swee, who left with the Olympic squad for Jordan for their final Olympic qualifying match against Syria this morning.

“The agent came up to me during our first clash against Japan and told me the club was interested in Kecik,” said Kim Swee.

“Right after our second match against Japan, the agent came up to me and told me they are finalising the paperwork and would like to see Wan Zaharulnizam in Okinawa. I’m happy, and amazed, that it was more of a case of the club showing interest in the player instead of us recommending him to them.”

Kim Swee then suggested Wan Zack should accompany Wan Zaharulnizam for the trial at the club.

“Who knows if Wan Zack can also impress them, then we could have two of our boys there.”

Kim Swee added although it was a Div 3 club, he hoped the lads would make the cut for at least a full season.

National coach Datuk K. Rajagobal echoed similar sentiments.

“Europe is difficult to penetrate. This is a good opportunity for our lads to play in the J-League although it is a Division 3 club. We know that the standard of play in the J-League is higher than our M-League,” said Rajagobal.

“This should also be seen as a stepping stone for greater things. If the players can graduate to Division 1 J-League teams, it would be another achievement. They will return with plenty of experience and exposure to a different playing style.”

Japan Dream FA, through its ‘J-Dream Project’, are tapping talents from Southeast Asia to play with Japanese teams. This is part of the progress made by several FAM officials who met their counterparts in Japan, as revealed by Mailsport in December.

There are also attempts by another club for national goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat but it has only been a verbal approach so far.

Observers believe penetrating into Japan — albeit in a lower division — will be a step in the right direction. With many talent scouts and agents keeping close tabs on players there, the chances of footballers being spotted for bigger clubs in the Middle East and even Europe are higher.

Correct. Malaysia only allow one nationality to be Malaysian. Malaysia's.

So technically, its either you are Malaysian or you are not. I think Gan and Maloney falls into the latter cathegory.

it's not a weed tered so try to be realistic

anyway thread title(+ the description) is self explanatory.so discuss about footballers that you think could break it overseas.mainly Japan or europe

as for me,other that the usual suspect(safee,Nazmi, etc),i think both Fadhli and Muslim are good enough to play at least in the J-league

they're tall, well built, good in zonal marking(though got prob in man marking) and still young.

other than that,i think Matyo should be good enough as well.but he is quite injury prone
*
sorry, not harsh but for Fadhli and Muslim quality in japan, there are so many of them ...

means no reason for japan clubs to sign them

Yeap, I know what he meant but considering he was born in Malaysia, so he could have been Malaysian but I guess for footballing reasons, he would rather much prefer to be Scottish.

Shaun Maloney is obviously Scottish as Gan is Australian. Until they are ready to relinquish that status, there are no use of speaking as if they are Malaysian.

nationality decision goes way beyond football....

Fair enough but shouldn't Malaysia at least be able to call Brendan Gan since he has Malaysian parents? He could of choose to represent Malaysia (due to his parents' nationality) or Australia? Unless of course his parents are Australians themselves...

dia kena ada passport (nationality) Malaysia at the first place bang = giving up his OZ nationality. nak apply kerakyatan Malaysia pun bukan mudah, Malaysia dah stop naturalization program after 98 commonwealth games.

it had been rumoured Vijay Singh nationality application was also rejected previously.

this is not just abt football/sport like what arresandro said. it's beyond that.
culture/ political & etc.

the ball is in Brendan's court.... what FAM can do is REQUEST for the immegresen dept. to speed things up should he RESOLVED to CHANGE his nationality...
but nationality is a serious governmental process and many people mistakenly think FAM is THE GOVERNMENT which they are not...

as in many govermental process, it could take some time for it to complete but it need to start with Gan's resolve first...

but then again, is he thaaattttt good to begin with?
