QUOTE(athlonmax @ Mar 12 2012, 12:23 PM) i dont think our players is lack of talents,it's their mentality on becoming a professional player that are missing. I share your sentiment. Foreign players and coaches have all said one thing in common, that our players have the ability and skill. However, there is doubt over their mental strength. I'm not merely referring to onfield circumstances e.g. going a goal down. I'm referring to environmental factors such as being exposed and having to adapt to an entirely different culture, food, language, weather, customs and living conditions. I'm talking about having the discipline to train harder, to watch their diets, etc. Recent history would suggest that our lads cannot do so. Everyone who has been sent away on stints, has wanted to come back citing a preference to stay local. its all in the mind, and playing in the local league also doesnt help that much on their professionalism and dedication to becoming a better player. I for one think that Fahmy is good enough to play abroad and I don't mean in countries like Cambodia or Vietnam. However I have doubts over his ability to acclimatize. My colleague works closely with KAFA and meets the Kelantanese players often enough. They are almost all very reserved, shy and are uncomfortable in social situations. How then can they adapt to being on foreign soil? Safie is another one but then Indonesia isn't that different from Malaysia culturally. |

If Lim Teong Kim, Zainal Abidin Hassan, Dollah Salleh or Serbegeth Singh was 20 years younger, we have a strong team.

Aye we had a strong team back then even after our Golden Era. We had our version of David Seaman in goal I.e. Khairul Azman. Other solid players were Ismail Ibrahim, Azizol Abu Hannifah, the Kinta Express I.e. P.Ravindran, Yap Wai Loon and P.Somasundram. |

Everyone who has been sent away on stints, has wanted to come back citing a preference to stay local. Maybe that's because it's in our culture, especially the Islamic ones? ( I notice that the more reserved Kelantanese are the ones who are most Islamic in nature ). Hadith : Malu itu separuh daripada iman. But dont let it be a hindrance in our careers...I for one think that Fahmy is good enough to play abroad and I don't mean in countries like Cambodia or Vietnam. i once argue with duke red abt his ' avoidness' to support NT
but i do agree with his points. will you venture out to other places when u're well paid here? of course not. safee alone is not enough to spur the other talents to go find some playing time outside the land. |

the thing about malaysian football is, if they have all that intelectual inteligence needed to adapt to foreign place to begin with, then they wont be a footballer in the first place....
to be fair, a lot of good footballers in europe have trouble to adapt to other environment and influence their game also... for now, i think the practical way for us to get the best out of young talents instead of them fizzling out alone in foreign land is to send them abroad in group so that they have more support group as a cushion to live in foreign land... that way, they not only improve individually, but also learn how to tackle the teams with higher standard as a group... |

'malu separuh dari iman'? 1st time i heard of it
religion should not be reason for you to not do anything. people (wrong)interpretation of religion usually does that if there's chance for Apek to go to Japan, he should do it. he already looks like them |

I think the problem with our football is that everyone worships the ground EPL / European football walks on. Everyone wants our boys to play in EPL / Europe when we should be looking east instead. I think encouraging our footballers to go to J-League or A-League should be up for consideration.

Except with Ariff who sponsored by Mister Potato and sum amount by FAS, the two siblings Faril and Fandi simply gone to NZ using their own pocket money while looking for a job there. I guess lady luck is with them when both of them playing together as first eleven with AFC Grisborne City. They were not only playing as first starter but shone as talisman of the club. Fandi for example does not looked back when he became the club golden boot! Now,they are spending time with their family in malaysia due to the league break and maybe during april or may, they will travel to Europe to attend trials with few clubs there. I wish to both best of luck! With their good attitude, spirits and perseverance, only time will tell when will Malaysian breed could break the Europe football market.
