since the k1 sorta like floating..is it ok to be used for other type of filter like canister and so on because so far all of the k1 user only use it for sump tank..Arowana Lovers V6, All about Arowana

k1 media not recommended to be put in canister..coz, k1 media are mend to be aerated with strong air..means powered by high dosage of Oxygen..keeping strong and active nitrifying bacteria..meanwhile, during the aeration process which make the k1 self collide, weak bacteria or dead bacteria will fall off the K1 surface, giving space for new strong active bacteria to colonize..
So k1 = unlimited strong and active nitrifying bacteria..no need to change unlike any other stationery medias.. If u put the K1 medias inside canister, it will still colonize by bacteria, but losing the properties of knocking off dead bacteria and growing a group of powerful bact.. Me and pigpig are trying to import K1 in bulk..we will keep u guys update on this.. |

QUOTE(Travies @ Apr 9 2012, 11:27 PM) bro ...basicly the k1 media is actually a self-cleaning bacteria house for bb...k1 needs to be aerated and circulate it with a strong power head ( which i think is better to improve the self cleaning ) since k1 is moving/rubbing to each other, dead/old bacteria will eventually fall off and only the strong ones will cling to the media...thus your k1 media only holds the strongest and healthiest bb to fight for your tank..the best thing is...since is self cleaning..you don have to worry bout washing/changing the k1 media anymore.....you will have the best BB to cleanse your tank..but ofcourse, weekly/monthly WC still recommended i've read this k1 thingy last few months ago and i found it very very good...almost perfect media for a sump tank users. Im aactually planning 1 compartment in my sump tank for k1 media with powerhead and strong air stones. I just cant find anyway to get my hands on it LOL .... any sifu out there can elaborate more? im just stating some k1 info..im sure theres a lot more to be explained lol...
