u want to put pasu bunga also can... ha ha ha ha~ in my tank, underneath my slopes are petrified woods + small pots when buying plants that time to support my rocks 'puzzle'. LOL~

- the thing is, the purpose of having those lava rocks and creating slopes are for 2 different purpose.
- using lava rocks: for BB colonizations underneath the soils. so some people taking this opportunity to create slopes with it as well.
- creating slopes: well, definitely just for the slopes. which by means, if u already have  Power Sand at your base, it wont be necessary to use lava rocks. so u can use whatever thing (seriously, even pasu bunga) to make the slopes higher as you wanted it. because you wont be worrying about bb colonizations (if got then good, if cant then nvm.. u still have powersand anyway).

- to me, the more BB the better. that's why it's name is "Beneficial" Bacteria. ha ha ha..~
- BB in filter and in the soils done the same thing in different way. ever wonder where's all the poops gone?
- u can replace the powersand with crushed lavarocks if you want. more cheaper. but in these kind of thing, i trust ADA.

my only concern now is how large is the driftwood and where to plant the narrow ferns. moss decided to tie on wood. the nanas i will try to figure a way between the rocks and beside. narrow fern plan to use as background but duno what or where to tie them
if i attach the narrow fern to the driftwood i need to bury tht part of the wood or just leave it as it is?

i use dolphin 500, 500l/h (too strong for 40cm tank)..now regret and wanna downgrade to slower one.
media inside: sponge, carbon (will remove a bit later), bio-ring (around 10pcs)

u can flat the front soil to become one line
re-arrange the DW instead of all lying together
trim the long fern leave, new leave will grow nicer
cover the anubias rhizome with rock
re-arrange the rocks as well
maybe u done it too fast

For ess K u can push 1ml/2days mean every 2 days push the fert
plus ur plants are low demand type, u even can dose every 3 days

aquaclear 501 II enuff already..i assume that 1.5ft tank will have ± 30 liter of water. that is 10 time than your water volume. if it come with flow control, thats better..dolphin have flow control..but the rattling sound when i select to slower flow is annoying. sponge + carbon come with the filter. i only add bio ring for BB house. nirox brand only..less than RM5

may i know where u gonna buy the aquaclear HOB , i only saw it in pet safari ikano but
the price is quite high .. aquaclear 20 cost rm82.00 , with that i can buy Eheim Liberty 200 or 2041.
somemore all those aquaclear are left over phased out stock, only few box left are unopened condition.

filters media can opts for JBL micromec, aquaclay etc or more expensive like eheim subtract pro , biohome etc.
but all depend on ur budget.

eheim currently still doing promotion on the classic canister model , 2213(rm279), 2215(rm389) , all come with free filter media.
worth buying.

with rm100 , then u can get the eheim HOB 2042 aka Liberty 200 at promotion price of RM95nett(normal price >rm150).

but u using only lava rock as media inside this filter? hope not as lava rock won't hold much beneficial bacteria.
if budget is the constraint, can buy those cheapo cap ayam filter media. cost < rm15 a box.
btw do they still have stock for those aquaclear filter model 30 & 50?

3rd - Water sprite..
Best to avoid it, it grows alot root from its stems and very ugly.

3 times planted glosso....ALL MATI (special thanks to cory and flying fox).

Then change to the pearl grass...supposely cantik cantik for the 1st 3weeks..then in a sudden, since last week, my tank temp suddenly shoots up to 30-31 celcius..then all mati in 2 days...shit...my tank got carpet curse...

It cost me merely 2hour to plant (include process of seperating the yellowish or layu). I respect the 3f above

i buy a new tank, korek the soil in my old tank...put 5element in new tank n put soil, tanam, n direct transfer all fish n plant go there w/o cycle.
