ah... never mind la... already been to those place already... got a few inspiration and also made modification to my ideal tank already....

Taiyo is a good brand. i'm using the 1000 for my 4ft tank. can clean but its a slower cycle la.. 1200CF model is better and you can adjust the out valve to suit the waterflow if you find it too powerful. even my 1000CF i find it very strong and creates big currents at the top....

rm100 is a very good buy indeed. i bought my 1000cf for rm120 but is new la...

if you cant get the canister to pump water, you can manually 'start' it my pressing VERY hard on the taiyo brand on the top of canister. it will suck the water in. but like arrow said, please don't plug in the wrong inlet and outlet on the canister.... rainbars can be bought at LFS but i don't know how u r going to split the 1 outlet to multiple outlets to the rainbar(s)...

bro, cheap one also got... look for ur LFS nearby.. sure they got something to offer to u wan... i still prefer a HOB for a 2nd filter as backup.. too many canister also not so nice.. hehe..

i'm looking at the 2 inlet and 1 outlet eheim pro 3... it will be nice for my tank... but the price.. rm13xx... might as well stick to my taiyo...

oh.. tat one called priming valve.. quite high tech name.. hihi..

its like starting engine... need multiple times. it can be frustrating so remember to turn the inlet and outlet valve to "stop" or "shut" position when you are cleaning your filter. it makes it easier to start the unit. its very noisy if the water doesn't flow through the filter but once it start running... fuh... silent all the way...

wat kind of fish damages the submersible pump?!

rainbars yes you need to custom make if you can't find anything suitable. maybe those white PVC is enough? grey ones look a bit untidy... after u make the rainbars, then u need to get the clips and suction cup to hold the rainbars... quite headache actually... well, if you like DIY, its quite fun to do it

beerbottle and luqee... u guys really can be good frens... i think you can use those canister then add on with the shrimp cage like the ones that ciohbu is selling. its fixed at the inlet to the pump (out from the tank) so that small debris or shrimps will not get into the canister pump. thats the safest bet.

with those fishes... i don't think you guys wanna do planted tank with them right? i think they will redesign your layout totally....

oh yeah, about the priming valve, if you press hard enough, it will be 'looser next time'. its a bit hard to press after long time no use i guess...

possible to use sand. in fact, my current tank is using diana walstad + ADA methods.. hehe.. still in testing phase coz i rebuilt my 4ft tank yesterday. it is possible to include the ferts in whether in liquid or tablet form but of course you must know your type of plant takes liquid or tab ferts. mine is taking either way so tats why i tend to follow the diana method and its much cheaper for my 4ft tank as well. in fact, i used only 1 x 9L ADA soil and the rest are the potting soil + building sand and the LFS yellow pea sized gravel + 2 pcs of DW. simple setup. all in all, the cost is about RM130 i think ( the building sank i curi from else where). if add on the ADA 5 elements and the root tabs (i put in the multi + iron tabs) so its higher la...

my fauna also very limited due to my LFC got a few types only... java fern also dun have and i have to substitute for other java fern look alike

today i moved back my 6 adult angelfishes into the main tank and fingers crossed, everything should be ok. i will monitor them these couple of weeks for any signs of trouble...

T8 even more cheaper but it takes up too much space!! currently using 2 x t8 total 78w (about 1.3wpg) for my 4ft tank.. the flora is growing but very slow lo...

T5HO is really the better option for 2ft tanks and larger. for smaller tanks, maybe consider PLL bulbs is better due to space constraint. please correct me

just a cheeky thought : why not wrap it with those blue transparent plastic?

then mah become white + blue liao.... hehehehe
