well i try to do it myself if possible, and now i am not in KL and the nearest LBS is nearly 30km away and they mainly selling kid and cheap bikes thus I have less confidence on them...

ow well maybe i will leave the sound as it is right now and service it when i back to KL....actually the grinding sound is nearly unnoticeable when doing normal turning... tongue.gif

that is because it is the top bearing that rusted and not the bottom.. the bottom is the load bearing "bearing"... and usually very hard to rust because it gets hit with water less frequently...

it should hold up till you are back in KL... since rust is the case, you are most probably expecting a change anyways..

taking it apart is easy... putting it back and make sure that everything is down tight just needs a bit more attention to it...

why need torque wrench...you have carbon stems and bars?

even carbon steerer are not too afraid of slight over tightening... it should be able to take up the forces that you wrist can dish out unless you are the incredible hulk...

why didn't you bring a camera...

we need more hot chicks in here... or at least their pics...

i'll go home today and print a few to stick it on my handlebar, stem and top tube... gives me motivation during hard efforts... heck, i'll find a nice booty and hang it on the end of a stick and mount the stick right in front of my eyeline...

the power of hot chicks with nice asses... beats power bars and gels any day...

actually any alloy frames will do... more commonly it is steel followed by titanium... aluminum will do too worst come to worst... steel is more easily repairable if you can find people to weld it in case the worst happens in remote places... steel is also more compliant on the road and is the more comfortable among the three... carbon is the worst as it won't be possible to carry loads from things like pannier racsk..

then it comes your choice of either running an MTB or Road frame.. road frame generally will be the type with tall head tube and long rear calipers to fit in fat tyres... and the frame must have huge tyre clearance on the seat stays in case you venture into muddy terrain....

most importantly is a bike that is easily repairable or find replacement parts in case you reached places where you don't have a lot of the newest cycling equipment.....
don't think the surly brand is available here... they are very known for their steel frames and cross bikes in the US.. but nearest i think will still be SGP or Thai... but most probably brought in their fixie instead....

Actually I quite like this steel-framed bike user posted image which is a Raleigh Oakland, however the malaysian version doesn't look like this nor is made of steel. sad.gif

steel does not entice the normal customers anymore... hence, the lack of it in local market...

however, i have seem some raleigh single speed some time ago and i think they are steel frames... not really long distance usage, but more of leisure rides around the park and stuff...

haha... we are just kiddin... we don't want to see pretty girls on their bike with their ugly looking panting faces trying to crank it up a hill... destroys the perfect imagination of what pretty girls is in our minds....

just leave us with our imagination and we'd be happy...

speaking of camera...

i can't figure out what good will that be for road bike except for capturing cars running into you or you rolling over some dog that ran out of the road UN-expectedly and flipping over your bars and breaking your expensive carbon wheels...

freakin hillarious for viewers... not so for the owner of the camera...

oi..i avoid watching any video where cyclists hit by a car..scary mah..haha...

hey anybody tried KKB-Fraser Hill before? I recce at bikemap.net and seems like it is only 40km..how's the traffic like? I understand that for odd hours the traffic will accend up to Fraser and even hours traffic will decend downhill..

So there is a possibility that when I'm climbing up, there will be cars going downhill am I right?
