Planning to put gloss black vinyl on my car hood, but got advise from the sticker guy not to do so... apparently it is easily scratched, he advise matte better. But does vinyl wrap really spoil the ori paint? How true is this? Also, then I thought of painting the hood to black paint after I saw this: http://www.groupon.my/deals/klang/wai-netw...-care/717581005But dunno how reliable is this... like quite a cheap paint, dont know can last long or not. Any suggestions from the pros? This post has been edited by shawnloong: Oct 21 2013, 11:32 PM

QUOTE(ewan8811 @ Feb 26 2012, 04:02 PM) I agree with what Shawnzz said. Painted my ex-exora white and when want to sell it, the dealer told me that once I spray it, the value of the car drop. Btw, my hilux is fully wrapped with carbon sticker and it cost me around rm600 only cause my cousin owns a sticker shop well, i kinda like it cause its the only car in my hometown which is fully wrap with carbon sticker & from far it looks like matte black hi there, may i know where is ur cousin sticker shop, would like to do wrap for my car with carbon.

Reputable car shops will offer a few different brands of wraps
The most popular brands are
3M Oracal Arlon
Quality among these brands are quite similar, the biggest difference are shades of color they offer and patterns.
Bear in mind even within the brands, there are different series of wraps. Some are meant for indoors usage while others are meant for outdoors. And then there are the China or Korean wraps which cost significantly less but are also a lot less durable.
Wrapping a whole car basically starts from as low as 1k (no brand paper) to 30 to 40k depending on type of car and type of wrap. Most mainstream C segment cars cost around the RM2500 to RM5000 depending on the type of paper and design.
For people who want to save money, they can buy the paper direct from the vendor (at the risk of buying fakes as well) and have the shop provide the workmanship for wrapping. The most expensive part about car wrapping is workmanship and labor.

QUOTE Oic.. mind to explain why bro ? Im curious. Re-paint the car makes it looks new. Shouldn't lower the price in logic way. HAHA.. anyway gt idea why ? thanks for telling this. the value of the car will drop after repainted even it looks newer because its not the original paint from the factory and the paint quality is often softer then the one that came out from the factory. Just like an aftermarket exhaust will lower down the value of your car eventhough it sounds better. This post has been edited by adisonteo: Nov 7 2018, 10:38 PM
