Hey guys, would like to ask you all about car wrapping service in Malaysia . I seldom see workshop providing wrapping services , mostly from Johor. I wanna chng my car's color. Wondering shud I go for CAR WRAPPING or PAINTING ? The price for wrapping is about 1.8k and painting I haven't survey it. Whole car for Gen2 . Any suggestion ?

Added on February 26, 2012, 3:17 pmWhat about the maintenance of car wrapping ? Can I use ordinary car wash and polish on it ?

I agree with what Shawnzz said. Painted my ex-exora white and when want to sell it, the dealer told me that once I spray it, the value of the car drop. Btw, my hilux is fully wrapped with carbon sticker and it cost me around rm600 only cause my cousin owns a sticker shop tongue.gif well, i kinda like it cause its the only car in my hometown which is fully wrap with carbon sticker & from far it looks like matte black biggrin.gif

Full wrapped you mentioned refers to full exterior body ? How much is that cost me ? RM600 for you then shud be 1.2k for me ? LOL... sad.gif anyway.. can I have the contact number of your cousin's workshop ? Mind to intro ?

Other than tat , can u just simply wash it with normal car washer and polish thingy since it is carbon fibre sticker not paint. Guide me pls.

Added on February 26, 2012, 5:38 pmmatte black is awesome anyway.. I love matte black most for cars.. mine is metallic grey now.. SOB..

Yeap full body & for you the price should be around that. And forgot to mention that I'm from Sarawak. Sorry >.<'! I've been to the ar wash which the are using the machine & so far no problem. You can just do normal car wash & it will be good as new.

Wrapping is getting popular in Europe. Reason is simple: Especially when doing it to a new car you keep the paint in mint condition. Want to sell the car, tear it away and you get a brand new looking car. smile.gif (if the buyer doesn't like the new color). Also you can buy a car with a conservative color that will get you a higher price than a more striking color, while you still get to enjoy any color you like.

Added on February 26, 2012, 5:59 pmI think the value drops cause why do you usually spray a car? Cause there was an accident. Accidents lower the value. At least that's my guess. And I'd guess that mostly applies to newer cars. A 10 year old car where the original paint is gone due to the sun but that was repainted shouldn't drop in value, I'd guess increase even.

Any more accurate pricing for both of the painting or wrapping?

Also any nice shop doing them?

And does the color of paint differs a lot from the price? Like Beige color compared with Black color.

IMO, re-painting it will up the value compared to leaving it as it is now. But only if you pay for it out of pocket and not go through insurance. If ins pays for it, it is listed as an accident and that lowers the value of the car.

So what makes you guys think that repainting the car will lower the value of the car? If the dealer told u that, well he's making a profit from you.

Wrapping have to choose what kind of sticker also. You buy china-made sticker also ruin your car paint only when you plan to take it off..

Now 3M got brushed metal color also not bad. Few months ago i also wrap my car with matte black roof. 3M brand, so far so good.

But good sticker + good workmanship = $$$ ... just prepare..

The 2nd hand salesman will find any problems with the car just to drop its value so he can earn more.
