Nokia N9 is now being sold for RM1499 (16GB) in Mid Valley Gardens Nokia. The one in Megamall still sells it for Rm1799.
*
You mean Nokia has official drop the price to RM1499?

Can you play Farmville on N9 or any smartphone for that matter?

Can the N9 tether? Got inbuilt program or apps available?

Nope can't play Farmville on N9. U can play on iOS devices with their specific Farmville app on iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Apart from that I don't think anything else works.
*
Not even Andriod?

nope, it is optimized. Optimized = drawing more performance from the chip. Previously, Symbian 3 was not optimized, you see lagging here and there, whereby you don't see much lags on N9, not as far as i experienced.
as for what you are saying, it's stability. I have to say, it's a brand new OS coming to the market, and sadly, there aren't many users as other phones to give a more progressive and useful bug report, so yeah, for now, i think stability wise it's still incomparable with some other OS, but over the time it will catch up. BTW i'm more concern on Android on N9, that will really make me interested in it, again. As of now Meego aint really attractive to me apart of the smoothness and the swipe gestures
*
Do you think it Andriod apps will lag badly on N9?

This is embarrassing. With N8, if I want to lock the phone, I flick a side switch and the screen goes blank. But how to do that on an N9?

Hi.

1. Got the N9. Updated device. Now Maps keep crashing. What's wrong?

2. And how to transfer Favorite from N8 to N9?

3. How do you do a "take battery" out reboot?

make sure you back up your data first!

To Clear Device, do the following:

Open “Settings”
Tap “Reset”
Choose “Clear Device”
Tap “Yes” to confirm the process.
*
You mean after reset, I have to download the entire 290MB to update device all over again?

I did the reset and now the phone seems to be stuck with that 'white square circle' going forever. Hang? This is not good.

Maps data on Maps seems corrupted (partial maps shown) but Drive seems fine. I went to Maps/Manage Maps but there are no option button to download maps. It just says "Connect to a Wi-Fi network to download maps" and nothing else. I am already connect to wifi. What did I do
wrong?

The Nokia Link is a poor version of Nokia Suite and there are no option to handle Maps.

Bottom right icon, click on it. It has Add Maps, CHeck for updates.
You can browse others websites ok? Try reconnect your wifi
*
I read the manual and there is supposed to be a '3 bars' option icon at the bottom right hand corner but there are none on mine. On the bottom left hand corner, there is a "back" icon Hence my asking.....

And I can go online to OVI store so I must be online already.

Worst case scenario is, I uninstall Maps and reinstall. But I don't see Maps being listed in OVI store. I bought N9 precisely because of Maps. So how?

why did you uninstall Nokia Maps? o,0

yours right now PR1.2?

if yes, better reinstall the software back using Nokia Software Updater sweat.gif
*
I have not uninstall Maps. But if I can't solve this download maps issue, I might have to as last resort.

Yes, I think I am on PR1.2

Check settings->About Product. Under version : PR1.2, 30......
If it starts with 20 then it's PR1.1

Dont uninstall your maps yet. Try reboot, dunno why you dont have the bottom right hand icon
*
Meego 1.2 Harmattan
Versin PR1.2

I have switched off the phone numerous time and still no icon.

How do you do a 'battery-take-out' reboot? I tried pressing the power button for long time and nothing happen.

not sure the missing "3 bars"  he meant by 1) or 4) ...based on my guide.

Sceenshot will be helpful, Optiplex330 smile.gif

p/s: Optiplex330 , please turn on your Maps to "online" at Setting, exit and go back to Maps app. About syncing favorite, and sync your N8 favorite to your Nokia account, and re-sync back to your N9 using Favorite option
*
Great. Solved. Thanks

1. Map/Options.
At bottom, there are several options, namely, back & search & nearby & route & option

But somehow this 'back' option never seem to work. That option is only for 'show'?

2. Favorite
The N8 and N9 has different Nokia account and I want to keep it that way. How do I transfer (not sync) all my N8 favorite to the N9 or to some other people for that matter.

One more thing. This N9 doesn't seem to faster than the N8. Need to 'run in' like car mah? LOL.

4) Click on three bars at bottom right, you should see Add maps

5) At this screen, you pretty sure know much what to do

Thanks for taking the trouble to show me these pics? What apps did you use for doing them?

In my case, it turns out you need to have 2 things:
1. Phone have to connect to Internet. Obviously this was done on wifi.
2. Maps has a separate setting for 'online'.

The 3rd button, press 1 time, see the screen go blank with the time on. Dont press too long, will end up shutting down, happen to me a couple of times cos I 'rough' type. blush.gif  Normally use the Restart me app to reboot, seldom use button
*
I don't like testing apps so I normally ask around before doing so.

I understand Restartme gives 3 options:
1. Restart
2. Shutdown
3. cancel.

I only want the screen to go into blank instead of pressing the hard key. So does Restart do that or does it do a computer type reboot? I don't want a computer type reboot.

There is a free apps called Shutdown. Option are
1. Reboot
2. Shutdown

Again, does Reboot mean computer type reboot?

To tired to go through the 50 pages. So how do you people increase the ringing tone sound volume?

Google and found some pretty complicated and scary way of doing it. Any easier way?

The ringing tone volume is already pretty okay in PR1.2 when set to max. Any louder it would be annoying to others. The earpiece volume can be improved, I agree but ringing volume sounds fine to me. Do you still find it too soft?
*
On 1.2.
Setting/Sound&Vibration/Volume. Still low. Lot behind my other N8. Did I miss something?

Another question. When I wanted to make a video call from the N8 to N9, it says the N9 does not support video? How is that possible or is there some setting i missed?

ps. The N9 can access Internet.

There's a ringing volume with bar in blue and general volume with bar in magenta. You can adjust the ringing volume by pressing the Volume+ key in any screen including the lockscreen.

*
Missed that. I increased magenta but ignored the blue ones. Thanks. It's now louder but still not as loud as N8 but I guess that is it.

2) The restart, shutdown is to reboot and switch off the phone. If just want to on screen saver, press the 3rd button from top. 1st and 2nd button for volume. The screen saver(screen blank) will auto on within certain time. Settings-> Device->Display->Display Time out. Longest is 3 min.

Or you mean you dont want the time to be there when the screen goes blank/screen saver on?

Btw, your maps issue settle? Weird you couldnt see the bottom right icon? oops, just saw your post, solved liao. The back button works
*
I know of the 3rd button and thought there might be an apps that will do the same thing. Anything like the Pocketlock for the N8 on the N9?

Is your PC's bluetooth visibility on? I assume you know that most desktop PCs have no inherent bluetooth facility and you need to plug in a bluetooth USB device.
*
Finally got the computer to detect the N9 but the computer asking "insert the disc that comes with your bluetooth
peripheral device".

My pc bluetooth is a tongle and been using for years so I suppose it is asking for my N9 disc? Where got disc?
