QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Mar 22 2012, 01:15 PM) what about direct use the usb cable? Its faster and better. If want to sync, choose sync and connect. If want to copy files, choose mass storage mode. Ya,can transfer contacts using Bluetooth. Nokia symbian phones to n9 is no prob. I just don't understand. The pc can link up with N8 via Bluetooth just fine. PC can now detect N9 but can't link up with N9 and keeps asking for device driver which I don't have.

Thanks.
1. How do I transfer N8's Maps Favorites to N9 Maps?. Both have different Nokia Account (I want to keep it separate).
2. When you export your Contacts to a File in N9, where is this file kept and what's it called? I did that but couldn't find it.

QUOTE(zachary22_77 @ Mar 23 2012, 08:19 AM) 1) I haven't found a way to import favourites on N9. 2) They are all in a folder called Contacts in your MyDocs folder. There are no file manager in N9. So what do you people use?

QUOTE(yeohsheng @ Mar 26 2012, 06:49 PM) i get my eyes on it since it launch -,- but i only get it on January.... and it is just a 16gb =.= i wan to get the 64gb, but my mom and all my relative stop me..... i insist 64gb until the day i buy n9, but the day i buy, is just 16gb.... i kind of regret now. Different people have different use of their phone. My N8 always have about 10G free and I have about 1000 photos in it. So I see no pointing getting the 64G N9. May be I am wrong but I think only those who like to store huge amount of CD of video or movies need that much storage.

Need some guru to answer a few questions. 1. Is there a way to know which apps have been using all those data? 2. Is there a simple switch to offline all widget that goes online? But leaving the email retrieval and skype intact? Thanks

QUOTE(yeohsheng @ Mar 29 2012, 04:32 PM) why would you come for n9 only for the nitdroid? if only for that, why not you go get an andriod phone? May be he like the good look of the N9? It sure looks better than SG2 or iphone4 my friends were using.

I am having GPS problem on my N9. Can't search using coordinates. I have tried: 1 22 33.33, 4 55 66.66 1 22 33.33n, 4 55 66.66e 1 22 33.33 n, 4 55 66.66 e 1 22 33.33 n 4 55 66.66 e
So how do you do a 'take battery out' reboot? I had held down the power button for a long time but nothing happen.

QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Mar 30 2012, 08:59 AM) Previously did that GPS method worked? I think you need to turn off the online search from setting before entering coordinates. Didn't see a reason for it to work such way but probably it is a bug which is fixed by now (last tried few months back). You are right. N9's Map has to be set to 'offline' for it to work. Definitely a bug and my version is 4.2.55 Is there simply no way of transferring favorite from N8 to N9 even with apps? This post has been edited by Optiplex330: Mar 30 2012, 10:38 AM

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Mar 30 2012, 09:35 AM) N9 last because the moment you connect to internet, it will update feeds; Perhaps can set to manual.
How to set update feeds to manual? Is there a 'one switch' that does that?

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Mar 30 2012, 12:07 PM) In Settings --> Notification --> Feeds on home screen, got automatic updates, you can switch it off. You will notice there got other notifications services, which I believe will run when you connect. IN Settings --> Applications, there also got feeds, you can also customize there. Not sure got any other service. For Chat, by default it will auto-connect. In Maemo5, we can disable the service since it doesn't have feeds and notification feature. In MeeGo, the Chat and other services is under 1 account, so if you disable, it will disable those services also. However, you can disable the Chat under that account. If you switch it off, what about emails?

QUOTE(pikacu @ Mar 30 2012, 04:16 PM) switch your maps to offline, exit and enter maps app back, then only you can search by coordinates Yes, you are right. This is definitely a bug. So you know of a way to transfer en mass all the Favorite in the N8 to the N9 (both on different Nokia account)? I can only find one way to do so but only one Favorite at a time and it's time consuming.

QUOTE(pikacu @ Mar 31 2012, 01:44 AM) to me not a bug ..if N8 didn't behave this way then it is definitely bug This is only theoretical...you may try it on your own. at your N8, with all favorites available, switch to your from 1st nokia account to 2nd nokia account, perform sync, and perform sync (using 2nd nokia account) on N9. didnt try yet anyway, because I unified my nokia account Interesting & theoretically workable method but for some reason, it is not working. On photo geotagging. I took some photo with N9 but couldn't see the coordinates in the photo gallery. (FYI, i have sent those photos to the computer and the coordinates are there). Having both the N8 and N9, I find Maps (not Drive) performance on N9 being bad comparatively. It's slower to launch and worst still, going into Favorites always incur temporary freeze and scrolling of Favorites is super lagging and getting stuck often. Do you people have the same problem? So far, the No.1 disappointment I have of N9 is the lousy Maps application. Slow. Lagging. Unstable. A far far cry from N8. Only Drive is OK.

QUOTE(pikacu @ Apr 1 2012, 09:32 PM) When I launch my Maps, i'll let it to sort it out itself for a moment, then after around 30-1min, good already with snappy UI well...trade off of having smooth UI i believe Not when you want to use the Favorites. It will be super super lagging. Found another problem. When downloading huge maps data of a 200MB using MAPS, it will freeze (showing....starting) but nothing got downloaded and sucking battery life. The only way out is to exit Maps and then re-enter to continue downloading where it left off. For a size of 200MB, you have to repeat the exit-reenter at least a dozen time. Maps in N9 is simply a piece of junk. Added on April 2, 2012, 12:09 amHow to force N9 to use Wifi instead of Telco data when wifi is available? Where are the priority setting? QUOTE(KennyKB @ Apr 2 2012, 08:18 AM) I'm not having the problems you are experiencing in Maps. It is stable and smooth. I don't find any super lag when selecting favourites. Downloading big map data doesn't crash it. It could be a damaged installation as what you are experiencing is not normal. How many favorites do you have in the list? Once tapped, how long does it takes to get into Favorite list in the Maps program? I have since did a Clean Device and with no Favorite, it is pretty fast. Once I got 150 favorites into the list, it will again take 8 seconds and a mid-way freeze to see the listing. N8 has no such problem

QUOTE(KennyKB @ Apr 2 2012, 07:34 PM) Less than 10 favourites. Do you really need to keep that many favourites on your list? Those you seldom use can be searched on the spot and used as a destination without keeping as a favourite. That explains why your N9 is more responsive than mine on Maps Favorites. Any one else having Favorites of over a few hundreds care to confirm? Is that normal? When you goes into Maps/Options/Favorites, does it always temporarily hang with notice "Maps not responding" appearing and then ok again? Thanks I reckon if a system can't keep even track of a few hundred mere numbers or just a few KBs, it must be a lousy system. N8 has no such problem. N9's Drive none either. Only N9's Maps got problem. I stayed with Nokia for precisely it's GPS and Favorites are important to me. This post has been edited by Optiplex330: Apr 2 2012, 10:06 PM

QUOTE(KennyKB @ Apr 2 2012, 10:19 PM) I suppose the designer of the system didn't expect so many favourites to be stored. You can't call them mere numbers as you don't know what storing a favourite actually involves. It is a lousy system if he has set the limit too low for the average user. He cannot cater for extreme users as it would gobble up too much resources. Comparing with N8 may not be fair as they are 2 different os with different requirements. I'm not saying storing 150 favourites is extreme as I have no idea how many other users store but this is not a common complaint in this forum or other N9 forums. Work with the system instead of fighting against it. Ask yourself if you really need to store so many favourites. The essence of favourites is to keep a few you use frequently for fast access. How do you select quickly from a list of 150 destinations even if there is no lag? I goes traveling and collect Favorites and over the years those added up. So the logical place to store them is on maps.nokia server. While I don't need all of them at once but every time you sync with the server, everything got downloaded into the phone. You can't selectively download some and not the others. In this modern computing age, database capacity of thousands and millions are common. So a few hundred is mere chicken feed and no excuse not able to handle. Definitely a design fault because Drive has no problem. This post has been edited by Optiplex330: Apr 2 2012, 10:53 PM
