QUOTE(hao @ Nov 30 2007, 05:17 PM) Yeap, if lucky, slightly better than dial-up. So now I need to ask TM to change the phone cable from my house to the pole? Not really. It could be their end too. Meaning something to do with software (or their hardware etc). Last time I also face the same problem. My solution is to call them and make a report. A couple hours later the line bounce back to it's awesome condition. Could give a try though. If that doesn't work, then yeah, changing the hardware might do the trick. Last time my connection got so wanked up that I can't even make any calls from the fixed line, the phone is noisy as hell (can't even hear what people are talking) and of course, modem always out of sync/internet disconnected. @wayn3san
Your SNR margin looks bad and your line very noisy (line attenuation) this can cause you DC alot. No wonder you only can get connected at 512Kbps instead of 1Mbps...and paying RM88/mth...sigh! I spoke with a friend he is the TMNet technician in charge in my area here. According to him the line attenuation should below 6dB but normally in range 6-20dB. Higher value can cause your line problem also can affected your connection too. FYI..mine is 6dB Anyway...I suggest you call and tell TMNet about your frequent DC. Remember to mention about the low Download rate and SNR margin but higher signal loss (line attenuation) you get. ps- Sometimes changing the path mode from Fast to Interleaved solve this issue...but only TMNet can do this... Good luck |

@stormer..
i dont know hjow to explain to u about my line my line is different from normal houses my dad,disconnected the line from the pole to the wire in the roof.. he connected the pole wire to a splitter for my modme ,and a phone. so prolly if i change the whole wire...excluding the copperwire from the pole..i can get better signal? dun bother about the speed coz im confident that its alright as yesterday it was at 1xxx+ normal ..only today the problem came up. everyhour i DC... im returning my modem tomorrow. to change for another type/brand fedup wit this shitty thing. and i will climb up the roof and replace all the wiring.. hopefully it can solve the problem coz i cant do anything to the copper wire from the pole.. p/s where u live? roughly..im in subang , usj. |

Okey...IC.
Anyway...allow me to give some suggestion to you. If your house not far from the pole and you got money to spend...instead of DIY by rewiring the telephone cable on top of your roof why not just call the Telekom contractor to do the job (better call the employee instead their boss) . Ask them to replace the cable from the pole to your house and make sure their fitting the telephone socket (wall) close to your modem...i think its only cost you below RM50. I've once replaced my telephone cable from the pole to my house up to my utilities room (about 90 meters + 1 telephone socket) and they ask me RM30 but i paid RM20...(I knew the money masuk their own pocketlah... On side note...sometimes by replacing the old telephone wire, including inside our house can get better signal by reducing signal loss (you knowlah the old wire inside putuskah)...yes its happened to me. So guys don't just hentam TMNet...do your own investigation first. If you're sure you already follow all the necessary actions but still having problem...I'm 110% sure you have right to hentam them KAU..KAU!!!..LoL!!! ps- I'm in Sabah.... |

This thing happened early last year if I remember correctly. I'm having frequent DC due to my SNR/Line Att problems....the TM Net technician do anything they know (change,reset portlah came to my houselah) but still the problems exist...but I wonder why whenever i'm online and pick-up the phone I can hear the buzzzz sound (i suspected something goes wrong but dont know what it is). I asked my friends, Telekom technician to checked at the "Appolo" he said everything looks okey...but still i'm having this problem.
Finally i browse through this forum ( Finally i'm enjoying my streamyx connection...the SNR margin increased and the Line attenuation dropped, so basically its improved as far as I can tell. HTH... |

@gsan,
What your modem modulation setting currently in use ?. If set to auto or multi-mode..have you try to change to G.DMT...?. |
