Just ignore and reject this 2012 Civic. Its totally crap to me and many ppl worldwide. The Malaysian version of the new Civic will launch locally in the 2nd half of the year. The main reason for this is to push off old stock before the new facelift arrives. Those who dont know will rush to buy the Civic without realising that in 2013 the facelift will arrive in Malaysia. This would mean big loss of resale value for those who buy the 1st gen 2012 model. So please dont fall for this trap!

Honda planning 2012 Civic facelift after only 8 months after worldwide criticisms
Current version criticized for deficiencies in design, quality, drivability & poor braking

By Tom Krisher

ROMULUS, Mich. — Honda is scrambling to revamp its Civic just eight months after a new version hit showrooms, and critics say it’s an admission that the compact car fell short in quality and handling.

The facelift, to come by the end of 2012, is rare because new models aren’t usually overhauled for at least three years. Honda executives say they are trying to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive small-car market.

The new Civic was panned by critics when it started arriving at dealerships on April 20. Consumer Reports magazine said the new Civic was less agile than its predecessor, and its interior quality was worse. The magazine refused to give the Civic its coveted “Recommended Buy” rating, saying that the braking distances were long and it suffered from a choppy ride. The car’s sales dropped to fourth among U.S. compacts from May through November.

The previous Civic, which came out in 2005, was known for its sporty driving, high-quality interiors, lack of noise and excellent braking, said David Champion, senior director of auto testing for Consumer Reports. “The new one seems to have fallen apart in those areas,” said Champion, who thinks that Honda cut costs with the 2012 version.

Honda also recalled more than 1,000 of the 2012 Civics because a fuel line could leak as a result of a manufacturing error.

Honda has told dealers that a reworked Civic will arrive before the end of this year. The car’s sticker price starts around $16,000, and a base model with automatic transmission gets 32 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving. Its price and fuel mileage are about the same as its competitors.

American Honda President Tetsuo Iwamura said yesterday that the company will improve the Civic’s drivability, but he stopped short of saying exactly what the company will do to the rest of the car.
I guess this posting is in line with what was said earlier:

assuming if you have 130k budget...will you buy a civic ?
If my budget was only 130K then i might consider the Civic. But if i cuold top up a bit more, i would go for the Optima K5.

Emmm....10.6km/l is really makan minyak le ......
Why is it considered makan minyak? rclxub.gif

10.6km/L for 70% city driving would give you a range of 530km on the Civic's 50L fuel tank which is quite ok if u ask me.

Just try to get a KIA forte 2010 and go to car dealer, and a Honda civic 2010 to a car dealer, see how much you can get from them and don't talk about the selling prices of the dealer.
They take ur car very low,not how much ur car can sell. get what i mean?
KIA is unfamous eventhough KIA optima is a very nice car,but the value is still worse, just go and compare with Toyota Camry.
I can buy Honda and Toyota without test drive it,But KIA,i don think i will buy bcoz of the resale value.
If you dont agree with me,then you go ahead with ur KIA. Here is HONDA CIVIC Thread.
Thanks
So safety, value for money, specs, technology, design & warranty terms are not important as resale value? What is the % of drop in value for a 2.0L Camry? Did you check yourself or are you merely vomitting out other ppl's garbage without doing any checks of your own? D segment car resale values are far lower than C segment makes. Its a known fact.

well if jazz can do 21km, why can't civic do it?

http://savemoney.my/malaysia-hybrid-car-bu...save-you-money/

i dunno lah. i dunno how car manufacturers can put these figures or get these figures. we need real life numbers or a database of people putting their figures online
Fuel consumption figures are secondary to actually testing the full tank mileage.

Fill up till the first click of the pump, drive till almost empty, then fill up again till the first click of the pump. Record mileage driven and then compare figures. Do it about 3 times to get an average reading. This will be more accurate. But also take into account % of highway or city driving.

to be honest i dont really check my milage or fuel consumption etc etc. i mean not in figures. my driving distances are pretty much routine. so i know what the appropriate ringgit cost per distance i drive. it is easy to realise something is wrong by just checking my petrol payments or refuelling intervals. and for the econ button? i never fail NOT to push it. haha.
the cruise control works well. so far so good the civic.
I think the purpose here is to know what is the fuel consumption and if its really economical or otherwise. Not to check if something is 'wrong'.

Well, if the ECON button works the same way as the the ECO button on the Optima, then it will regulate your RPM, and lower the gear change ratio (which results in faster upshifts). Not sure if it has any effect on the aircon.

This will give you a sluggish feel but slightly better FC during town drives. But ECON has little or no effect on highway cruising speeds in excess of 90kmph. Its best effects are felt during stop go traffic conditions.

But i would recommend you to do a comparison of FC during 100% city driving with and without the ECON button switched on.

haha i know...but 5 yrs warranty unlimited mileage..i guess dun care bout it too much..haha
Bro, u dont understand the importance of engine run in do you?

If you dont break in your engine well, your engine is not gonna fall apart la. So the warranty issue does not come into play here at all. Engine breaking in is about getting the best performance from the engine over time. If you dont break in your engine the right way, you are not gonna get the best from it. Yes it will still run and accelerate but ull get other 'issues' over time which won't be covered under warranty as its not a defect and its not a problem.

Dont trash your car just like those ah bengs out there. You have spent hard earned money on it so keep it well. But now that uve bought your car, focus on more important things in life.

Anyway, your days of speeding will come to an end in mid Aug when the automatic camera's are up and running. So getting a high cc car is kind of a waste in my opinion now. cry.gif

First of all, camry is not for u to race,i don think Safety is important for me
This really reflects on your mentality. I didnt realise how backward you were till i read this statement of yours. Its really pathetic and this reflects the tidak-apa ignorant attitude of some Malaysians who associate safety with speed only.

I really hope that you are not involved in some accident before you realise the importance of safety in a car.

I have no idea..how to check whether its UV glass or not?
UV Solar Cut Glass would be mentioned in your manual or spec list if it was installed. But the glass itself will have a natural tint and when u sit inside it on a very hot day, u wont feel the burning heat so much.

We find that our Civic 1.8 is pretty quiet using GY NCT5. I owned Altis before to compare here. Thanks.
GY NCT5 are crap tyres. Damn noisy and poor road grip. If you claim your car is quiet, then its because of NVH. Not the tyres. Change the tyres if you value safety. U can exchange for almost zero cost or just pay a small amount for Continental CC5. Much better tyres, good wet grip and more quiet than the NCT5.

Thanks mate for the head up. What other good tyres to get other than CC5 ? Thanks.
CC5 gives you the best balance between performance and price. Other tyres like Michelin will give you slightly better performance but at much higher prices. I would think that CC5 is quite value for money. But if you have the extra money and dont mind spending more then go for Michelin.
