Just would like to take some times to continue my next chapter..
Done another 100km today, mainly city drive, jammed, lots of traffic light, waiting in the car and so on...this lead to the FC dropped significant to 16km/l ( from 20km/l) and range dropped from 1k+ to 700+ and still dropping. Surprisingly, the auto stop doesn't causes the aircon to produce hot air, the air con is as good as when the engine is running. I've to test further if the ( auto stop ) functions will start the engine when it detected that it's no longer producing cool air due to very hot weather or too often of stoppage ( BMW 520i having the function to auto start again when the engine need the power even the break is being continuing press )
Since when does the auto stop stop the aircon as well? Ive driven auto stop cars in Germany and none of them produce hot air. The air con cooling drops a bit for sure but its still cold air.

And just to correct your statement on FC above. When u said the consumption 'dropped' from 20km/L to 16km/L, it means that your consumption increased not dropped. 20km/l means you car travelled 20km on 1L of fuel while in city driving your car could only travel 16km on 1L of fuel. This shows an increase in FC not a decrease.

May be it's my wrong assumption on :- engine stop ---> compressor stop ----> hot air....,
You're right, FC high which indicated dropping of mileage covered. Anyway, the FC for civic hybrid is acceptable to me, and running at highway is very much better. Overall I should be achieving RM0.10 to 0.14/km.
Never use money to determine FC. Always use km/l. Easier for long term reference.

I've tested K5 & sonata 2.0, the civic definitely was the winner in terms of acceleration
Yes i agree. K5 is sluggish for sure. Much heavier body.

Does it related in between what car he drive with the comment?
Yes it does. He will be using his current ride as a benchmark. Ppl also use various test drive cars as a benchmark too.

Mean HM giving discount of RM1k to those trade in their old honda vehicle or ex-honda vehicle owner?

Anyway, is my first honda purchase.
I think its just a different way of saying it la. They use the word 'discount' but when u trade in they offer less 1K for your car. But i may be wrong.

Hello, our lovely bro raised up his concern where someone claims K5 beat down civic in terms of performance. Of course the answer is No!
Is it performance or acceleration? Who said the K5 beats the Civic in terms of acceleration? Mind posting the quote? K5 0-100kmph is only 10.9secs (factory tested). Bit sluggish.

Anyway, my 2003 Vios could easily beat many cars out there in terms of acceleration. Factory tested 0-100kmph timing of 9.8secs. But was it a performance car? Good handling? Surely not.

That's pretty good, my first gen vios only traded in for 56k back in 2008. After bank repayment, I was only left with 32k. It was also a 3 year old car with 67k mileage.
If 3yrs old then it wont be first generation rite? That would be the facelift if im not mistaken? I traded in my 2003 Vios 1.5E for around RM38K after 9yrs+. Purchase price RM74K+.

Does our Civic come with Traction Control and speed sensitive control power steering ? Read the manual but it doesn't say anything of them. Thanks.
Any car with Stability Control means it comes with ABS, EBD, BA & Traction Control. You can't have VSC without these other systems. in lay man's terms, VSC can do what these systems do but these systems cannot do what VSC does.

But everybody has their own taste so ill respec yours. But i think the rear would be better if not for those lights in the middle. But i think the spoiler itself is quite nice.

I think thats because of the Toyota badge more than anything else. biggrin.gif

The only thing i found out is the engine idle sound a bit rough while on the stock engine oil. Perhaps new car they didnt use fully syn? Exhaust sounds like diesel sound by the way..hehehe
probably need Change the ori exhaust to some after market exhaust ( will this void warranty?)
New cars normally comes with mineral which is better for new engines. But later on you can move up to semi and then fully syn. Only then will you see your FC stabilise. No point checking fuel consumption this early. It will usually be a bit high but later ull get better readings as the engine is broken in.

BTW, completed 1100km with average of 11.5km/l on 80% city 20% highway (econ on & off). Believed the FC could better if managed to push more highway drive, not bad.  icon_rolleyes.gif
Yeah thats quite good. What's your instant FC at 110kmph? Mine is 9.1L/100km and 10.20L/100km at 160kmph during highway cruising.

Totally agree with u.......

Plan to change engine oil at 1000km service, wanna get rid of metal debris.....gonna use 5W-30, then 5 mths later upgrade it to 0W-20.....i find it hurtful to stay wiv stock oil till 6 mths or 10,000km
0W-20 is not advisable. Thin oil is used mainly in cold weather. Not suitable for Malaysian weather.

Most car manufacturers dont change oil at the 1000km interval as your engine is not 'broken in' sufficiently then. If u change then, the remaining pollutants will go into your next oil change which is a waste of good oil.

My advice would be to follow the manufacturer's recommended oil change intervals.

But Honda M'sia recommends the new SM 0W-20 for this 2012 Honda Civic. I am not going to change oil at 1000km interval, that will be too hardcore.

I'm gonna change at 1 mth/ 1000km, which Honda juz do checking. Then, 5 mths later, change again. Then follow the 6 mths interval as planned (dun think I will hit the mileage, seldom drive).....
Well if they recommend it then do as they say cuz ultimately the warranty is under them. Both Toyota and Honda are very tough on warranty claims. They will fight tooth and nail before admitting to a problem. Ive been a Toyota user for 9 yrs and had a Honda City in my family in addition to a 2006 Kia. So quite well versed with all 3 companies. biggrin.gif

My readings not quite correct as i found out yesterday. Now ive calculated my FC at 110kmph is 6.0L/100km and not 9.1L/100km as i mentioned above.

So that works out to be 7.0L/100km at 110kmph.

Hi guys, do you face sone sort of hissing sound from the engine when you turn off the car, its not that loud but it sounds like somethin boiling. Checked under the car but could not find any water leaking. At first i thought it was my radiator
I believe its the aircon compressor.
