Hi I am new to this forum and being a stalker reading this forum up to 1 years. Finally I made up my mind to move into Singapore and work there.
I will joining banking sector. Now i requesting to transfer to current Foreign bank in SG but i would like to try to apply for others bank in SG.
Btw: I am applying for Relationship Manager position. Is that a stress working environment if compare to MY?

Get the offer before worrying about other things like EP application. Finance line recruitment very soft in recent months cos of all the uncertainty going on.

"I am born in dragon year 1976, age 36 this year, here are the benchmark if you are at this age - sample taken from hcjc classmates

I always take internet message boards with a (huge) grain of salt. Same thing like LYN, whenever there is a "how much are you earning by 30 years old?!?" thread, invariably the answers don't reflect my personal observation of my friends & colleagues ... i.e. everyone by age 30 already earning rm10k++++++++

QUOTE(tgrrr @ Feb 24 2012, 05:59 AM)
Also, I'm wondering if there are any legal rules that prohibit the renting of whole HDB flats to foreigner (i.e. PR, non-PR), and thus I must rent a private apartment/condo only which will be much higher than my current estimate?

No such limitation on renting, single foreigners can rent whole HDB unit.

true. get a 8 years old car. after 2 years when Coe expired get another 8 years old car. keep repeating till Coe drop then buy new car

QUOTE(chanti-sama @ Feb 25 2012, 06:17 PM)
2nd cars are cheaper but driving in sg depends on alot of factors.

i thought of that too, actually you see those 2nd hand cars with 4-5 years left of COE can get for cheap one. But then maintenance costs + parking costs + all that ... calculate liao then decide occasional taxi ride still WAY cheaper biggrin.gif

I am not too sure about how to extend my visa to long term while I'm looking for a job in SG.

No longer applicable. Up until Dec last year you can get an EPEC (Employment Pass Eligibility Cert) from MOM (Ministry of Manpower), and using that Cert you can apply 1-year LTVP (Long Term Visit Pass) to stay in SG for a year. But unfortunately the scheme discontinued since last year Dec liao.

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Feb 26 2012, 10:36 AM)
my supervisor travels in and out of sg during weekdays leh... he dont have any work pass, how can leh?

5 days out of 7, long term works out to about 60 days out of 84, so he is sort of within the limit of 60 days out of every 90 days mah assuming he every other week come in 4 days instead of 5.

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Feb 26 2012, 04:43 PM)
Actually, after the first 30 days, the immigration will not give you 30 days for the 2nd time.
They will give about 21 days.
If you reenter after 21 days, they give u about 5 days.
They have some sort of buffer.
This is real experience of someone i know.

No such thing for my fiancee before she got her LTVP. After 30 days, every time she comes into Singapore the ICA ppl calculate exactly how many days she has left (out of the 60 days allowance) and mark it on her entry chop in the passport.

I think can apply for personal ep as a measure for long term visa. I discussed this with my boss b4 when considering to hire some msians. Anyways can check the details, wat i know is the ep is valid for 6mths

http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...es/default.aspx

only applicable if you're a high foreign earner i.e. earning more than $8k equivalent icon_idea.gif

Just a question, i need bring along the IPA letter when in the SG immigration, the white card i need fill in 30 days is it? and for working?
Now pack all my things, I know that in SG rent a room need EP, however i only have IPA, did anyone use IPA letter rent a room during waiting EP process?
i think during early April i need go back Malaysia to submit the income tax, my employer not ready the EA yet.

1. yes bring along the IPA. immigration will give you a white card for 30 days as usual. then when you're here you make appointment with ICA to finish the EP formalities and you will surrender the white card and IPA and they will give you the EP card.

2. I rented my HDB with my IPA, after 1 week+ then only give EP card for the owner to update HDB.

3. Do e-filing mah no need to go back malaysia.

@shinichi go to jaben at adelphi (coleman street near city hall mrt). it's a small shop, the uncle is super friendly, you can sit and try like all types of headphones til you find a pair that you like, they don't pressure you to buy at all one.

I ON one, I'm always looking to move SGD to MYR every other month or so. The problem is the trust issue ... I need to bank in SGD to forumer X, and he need to bank MYR to me, but who does the first move? If me, how willing am I to trust some random stranger with my money and vice versa?

i usually do remittance, costs me SGD8 - 10 depending on the speed of the service.

what service do you use? my current bank (scb) charges are ridiculous, sgd40-50 each time. It's been mentioned few times in this thread that maybank can do it for $15 or so, but I lazy to open another account with them just for the occasional remittance every few months.
