i can afford but it will be a risk to me. its actually not about me, having a choice whether to go SG or not. its about exploring my choices.

Let me rephrase. This is what you said:

"coz i have commitments and my fund might only let me survive around a week or so."

If you are so cash starved that you can only afford to stay in SG for a week, then effectively you have no choice. You will not find a job within a week, and even if you do, the process for issuing offer letter, applying EP, etc etc, can easily take another month. So during that time if you have no money, what are you going to eat?

I might be joining you guys soon. I will be going to Singapore soon. Just curious. What kind of salary is considered "high" in singapore when it comes to status. Please dun tell me 10k + because this is something not many people really like earn.  Tell me a sum that say most professionals would consider is ok.

too many variables. best is to go search for those salary guides and estimate for yourself.

15K RM or SGD ? smile.gif
15K RM is like 6250 SGD ~ around a manager/ senior manager post in SG ?

MNC: junior manager pay.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17543356

Supposedly Singapore average pay according to BBC (no idea where they get their data from) is ~sgd3875/month.

Many of my friends(NUS Grad, 35) are earning like 4.5- 4.8k. I would think that this is considered like a senior post already.

I would think that they are underachievers or underpaid. That age bracket i.e. mid30's-40? There are a few in my department and I doubt any of them are pulling in less than 100k per annum.

QUOTE(sylar111 @ Apr 9 2012, 05:35 PM)
Wat is a System Analyst suppose to earn over there? Wat is the acceptable salary over there. Dun quote from salary guides pls. Just let me know generally how much people are earning over there.

I can understand your misgivings about "trusting" salary surveys, but short of coming into possession of a big MNC's HR salary data, what better source is there?

Robert Walters Salary Survey: http://content.yudu.com/A1vf6s/RobertWalte...urces/index.htm For my job function/title and experience, the figures are accurate.

Systems Analyst (5year exp): $80k-$100k.

QUOTE(LiangZhuge @ Apr 9 2012, 05:52 PM)
On a happier note, 4K SGD you can live quite comfortably in SG (single, not sure for family though ~ even with the high rental for room).

For family a bit tight. Unless the whole family cram into one master room.

More than enough. Again, depends on how is your spending habit. But for average person, is more than enough

Depends on the definition of "average." According to Department of Statistics, average household income 2 years ago is $7.2k/month.

- was offered a new job in sg with 5.5k (incl allowance of 1k).
- it's a sales job n required me to own a sg car. by the way, there's 13mth bonus given.
- my healthcare industry experiences r not much..just 3yrs plus..

What sort of car allowance / travel reimbursements are you getting? "incl allowance of 1k" = your entire car/transport allowance? SG cars are damn expensive now. New Kia Cerato is about $88k, so assuming $8.8k downpayment, 5year loan = $1.5k per month, 10year loan = $900 per month. Then you gotta add in ERP (i.e. tolls), parking, maintenance, insurance, petrol, etc etc, easily spend $2k/mth on driving your car around.

(of course buying second hand car is cheaper lah)

QUOTE(alvin227 @ Apr 10 2012, 09:45 AM)
If you're paying $1999, means you are earning 60k annual income, that was calculated without any relief though. biggrin.gif

Or I could be paying $1001 meaning earning 46k smile.gif

Eh guys, renting out rooms for HDB flat when you yourself renting is allowed or not? hdb website seems to say that it's not allowed.

i.e. i rent entire flat from owner
i want to further sub-let out one of the bedrooms to another random person.

I am OK paying the commission if the agent provide the service (pick you up, etc) but I am doing all the work (Search on the Net, call, got to the place, etc) and the agent just shows up and ask for commission.

The agent is supposed to take care of formalities for you. He checks whether the landlord has the proper approvals from HDB (if applicable), he prepares the letter of intent, goes through the tenancy agreement and the moving in checklist and other documentation prepared by the landlord / landlord's agent to make sure no crazy one sided clauses, etc etc.

Guys, no reply? WELL, I guess this is Malaysia Hospitality afterall?  sweat.gif

you think this thread is relocation agency ah? some more post during lunch hour when most people are out eating and expect within-the-hour response? doh.gif

until last year your gf could apply for one year validity visit pass to look for work but sadly that scheme already scrapped by ministry of manpower, so she's limited to the 30-days social visit pass (limited to 60 days out of every 90).

how long have you two been going out? there's always the option of registering your marriage with ROM first so that she can come in long(er) term on a dependants' long term pass, then do your customary wedding later on.

the salon that i go cut my hair at, seems like more than half the hairdressers there are malaysian, i'm assuming that the salon would have applied WP for them, so there definitely is a possibility for your gf to find this kind of temp work. just note that non-degree holder WP normally gets the limitation by MOM that they not allowed to marry SC/SPR (otherwise their WP gets revoked and they get banned from entering SG for like 5 years or something)

What kind of work permit does a Malaysian citizen need to do 10 weeks for an internship in SG? How long does it take to obtain such a permit and what are the requirements?

TEP? I heard about intership ppl normally getting TEP instead of a full-blown work permit

http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...es/default.aspx

In any case, SG everything (except the Personalized EP) must be initiated by or sponsored by company one, you can't do it yourself. So you need to find the internship first, then the company will decide what kind of pass they wanna apply for you.

Anywhere from a day to two weeks. Mine took two weeks (dunno why). My fiancee's took two days.

Is there a reason why yours take 2 weaks? Sorry if my question is stupid. because difficult to book a house if i really do not know whether i will be working in singapore

No idea. MOM doesn't tell why some people 1 day some people 2 weeks. Same case if they reject your application and/or appeal, they also won't give the reason and you just have to guess.

Personally I think that the agent my company engaged screwed up my application and didn't give enough info in the first place or something but like I said it's nothing more than suspicion.

im working in MNC company that have large center in SG...if i go for internal move to center in SG...what's gonna happen to my tax in Malaysia...should i still contribute to LHDN....or no need?

if you *fully* move to SG i.e. you are employed by the SG entity and paid in SGD, no need to pay any tax to Malaysia.
