Of course you can

I don't think something like a PhD is practical to be done on a part time basis. its just that intensive.

And you'll be put to work too. Doing all the stuff that your supervisor don't want to do. Like handling 1st year students, marking exam papers, assisting in research and so forth. You'll be paid lar.. but this means if you're thinking of work outside of the university, not very like as you just won't have the time to handle it.

My application failed.

Why? What's the reason given?

My bad. Didn't study well during my Degree.

I got border line of 3rd class and 2nd lower. Just 1 pointer below to get into 2nd lower. Hence, MyBrain said my CGPA below 2.50.

And in other case, my friend's spouse failed while her husband approved. Reason was the course started before this programme. But both of the husband and wife enrol the course at the same time. One got approved, one got rejected.

U mean he started the course way back before 2010?

Both of her and her husband started the course back in Oct 2010, same enrolment. But one got approved one got rejected with the reason of the course was started before the programme launched. Then what the heck the wife's application got approved?

Not dare to appeal as worried the approved application will got rejected.

Anybody already extend or will likely to extend the myphd scholarship? I mean when you can't complete studies in 3 years, you can apply extension for another two semesters.

It depends on the kpt side, uni will refund to u in the form of cheque or if u hv cimb bank account(direct transfer). For my case, I paid my own school fee on Sept, I got my offer letter from mybrain on 31 Dec. And I submitted all the required documents to finance department of uni on middle of Jan. I got my cheque on early of April (after I got my first allowance on 23 March). For ur case, u hv to wait after u have got ur allowance (the upcoming one should be on 23 June).u shall be able to get ur refund on July then. Btw, I'm student of UPM (not UMP though).

@edited: My advice would be, ask the bursary to refund in the form of cheque. =)

How do you know when is the upcoming allowance? Is it stated in the website?

I went to my uni's bursary and ask again last week. They ask me to fill in 1 form for claiming. Then today I went and check again, the person say UMP has done it's part and claiming from KPT. Now nid to wait for KPT's side.

For my case, I applied mybrain on August2013, enrolled to Sept intake. I failed my application when the 1st result announced on November (bcoz of 1 number filled wrongly), I resubmitted my application within 1 week then I got offered on the 31 Dec. Ur fren should go kpt ask clearly

You must be blind sayang. Oh i forgot, you are those from bukit bukit type no wonder your thinking is so old fashion.

Master's Degree is slowly being phased out from some disciplines even in elite foreign universities. Some of those colleges only issue Master's Degree in some discipline to those who did well in their PhD course but were to put out. They don't offer Master's on its own.

I'm sure if you check contemporary colleges, most PhDs are slowly removing the need for a Master's Degree.

Remember that this is because a PhD is not a display of excellent mastery for the industry, but a hyperspecialization for academia.
