hey CY i see lately you took landscape pictars with polarizers. which one do you use?
*
Did not use CPL for my recent landscape shots. Some are real blue sky, some went through PP to recover the blue sky out of the white sky laugh.gif

PS.

PS stands for Photoshop.

The sky was there, but some shots is limited by the dynamic range of the sensor. So I had to recover it and the mask it smile.gif

One of the example... the original shot sky was pure white as I need to expose the pool nicely... but when recover I am able to get the details back.

is it really worth it to go for the 14-24? or shud i just settle down with the 16-35?

haiz..everyday got problem to think sweat.gif
*
Just grab the 14-24! There's nothing else to upgrade for UWA =P Unlike the 16-35 you might itch to upgrade to the 14-24 in future, like me >_<

QUOTE(ComradeZ @ Feb 13 2012, 05:56 PM)
Really really nice landscape of the place. I went there actually late last year and I got to say. The place and the scenery are magical  thumbup.gif

I really like the part where the plane just broke into the set  laugh.gif

will it be alot of difference? i know in price there is tongue.gif

saw some reviews and yes the 14-24 is better (barrel distortion, light falloff, bla bla)..but is it worth it? really considering it now  icon_question.gif
*
14-24 at f/2.8 seems sharper than my 16-35 at f/4! That shows how much sharper that lens is... and distortion control is superb as well.

Nikon already have their flagship 14-24 f/2.8, they don't need another product to compete against it ;-)

Hahaha more like they have 17-35 f/2.8 already don't need to make another one.
though 14-24 targeting different level of user  tongue.gif

14-24 replaces the 17-35, 16-35 is for budget users.

have you used the current canon's 16-35?
it's yuck
*
thumbup.gif , you're right. Used it before and didn't like it at all... my Canon kaki friends were jealous even of my 16-35 f/4's IQ!

The 14-24mm f/2.8 has the better glass. If you have the 24-70mm f/2.8, the 14-24mm f/2.8 makes a great pair.

Oh, while you're at it, get the 35mm f1/.4 too.  rclxms.gif

I think it's silly to make a new 16-35mm f/2.8 lens when Nikon already has 14-24mm f/2.8. Besides, I believe they made the 14-24mm f/2.8 to complement the trinity zooms i.e. 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8.

If you want the 35mm range, you can get the older AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8. Not too bad lah but if compared to the 16-35mm f/4, it shows it's age.
Budget? LOL There's nothing budget about the price though.  sad.gif
Agreed. Wide angles have always been Nikon's domain.
Depends on different shooting styles...
*
35mm is poisonous! One of my fav lens at the moment, kinda ditched my 85mm and 70-200mm for the mean time LOL.

16-35 is 'affordable' when compared against the king lens such as 14-24 and 17-35 though.

still dunno how to use fill flash properly outdoors sweat.gif

You need way more light to balance with the background... else the bokeh becomes really busy like what is shown here.

Here are some of my close up shots during the show in USS wink.gif

It was so much fun I sat on the roller coaster ride for about 6 times I guess.. 2nd time here, came all the way just for the Transformer ride which took me 45 minutes to get in sad.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Was at the wet zone during this show! I was soaking wet and it was so fun!
*
I took less than 30 minutes to sit Transformers back to back tongue.gif. I went on Battlestar Galactica Human and Cylon ride too, but didn't sit again because I'm tired of climbing all the way up ._. LOL. Managed to almost cover entire USS from 10AM - 4:30PM... minus The Lost World river ride and the bird eye view roller coaster... need to go again when there's new ride XD.

yeah, website is abit uncontrolled, saw a few frauds posted on the adverts, unlike mudah ,you ned to key in your NRIC which can be traced.
actually i was thinking that i wouldn't mind getting YOUR D700 when you get your D800  laugh.gif

Added on February 15, 2012, 2:09 pm
thing is thats its kinda difficult to differentiate between genuine sellers and frauds, plus the sudden surge of low priced, low used D700 sounds little fishy too
*
D700 is going to stay in my line up... will only be selling my D90 away. D700 is still an awesome machine.

Not sure about else where, but the one in Melaka at Mahkota Parade is crap.

I still remember back then... I was shopping for a D90 kit set... wah seh the boss lansi me as if I no money to buy, best part is he's charging me RM4600 for it... I ended up buying for about 4200 or was it 4300 else where... or was it RM4000+...

What help? We just pushed you into the pit !  rclxms.gif
Yup. I always say that teles are easiest to shoot. Most difficult is when you shoot wide and get your shot correct.  nod.gif

Just like what Robert Capa said, if your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough.
*
Tele lens gives a feel that you're shooting from far away... like sniping. But when shooting with a wider lens, 35mm for example it gives you a feel as if the you're in the zone... as in like you're really there instead of from far away sniping.
